"Boy, the days of easy to memorize resolution surely are gone these days" Except for the Surface Book of course, the easiest of them all. Just 3000x2000, exactly 5 million pixels. So satisfying :P
This is the best review of the iPad Pro yet. It's honest, critical, and complimentary. Nice to see a review without the Apple bias that you see with so many of the tech blog sites out there. i.e. The Verge, Mashable...
Just thought of this: when the original iPad came out people called it a just a big iPhone. Now that the iPad Pro has come out people are calling it just a big iPad. While I somewhat agree that it mainly is 'just a big iPad,' I also think there is a lot of potential here, and in a few generations we may see a significantly improved product that seriously competes with a laptop. Possibly iOS 10 will do a lot for the Pro, and make it a better laptop replacement; as of right now, I think it is only half way to what it really wants to be (a laptop replacement), but it's only a matter of time until it reaches its goal.
+THE AUSTRALIAN OPINION OUTSPOKEN AND IRREVERANT well I already have a MacBook Air that I can store stuff on so not having external storage on my iPad is fine for me. iOS is great IMO and probably my favorite OS, use it every day, ur to each his own!
I'm agree with you. In my personal opition, it would be an option if it doesn't exist any other option like surface pro that it's completely a desktop computer.
+Gerald Andrade Yeah, Android OS's have had expanded icon grids for years. There's absolutely no reason they can't run 10x8 icons at least. 5x4?? What is this? 2007?
+Chazzy Chaz I can see why they'd limit the icon grid... you can easily make an ugly mess out of a home screen (I've seen some hideously cluttered Windows desktops in my day). Still, Apple should give some credit to their users. If a user wants a cluttered desktop, that should be the user's prerogative, not Apple's.
Lisa, you talked me out of it. I was very much on the fence, but seeing your review helped me to make up my mind. I will wait for iPad Pro 2. Apple usually makes the second version much better than the first, so I'll wait a year. Thank you!!!
I'm typing this on my Space Gray iPad Pro 128GB Verizon & I'm in ❤️ with my iPad Pro!! I've owned every single iPad and nearly every iPhone. I am enjoying this more than my iPad Air 2 by far. Watching Netflix, Amazon prime, RUclips (videos in 1440p), Playbox HD, Moviebox HD look gorgeous on the huge screen!! Drawing apps are fun even though I don't have an apple pen yet. Adult coloring books are even more fun now. The Texture app which is Netflix for magazines looks superb! Gaming is on another level with the much bigger screen because I am seeing games with so much more detail. I'm a writer, so Notability is pure joy on my iPad Pro. I'm rocking the Incipio Faraday cover, so the typing position is very comfortable with the onscreen keyboard. The 4 speakers are LOUD and amazing sounding. I watched Interstellar and it sounded fantastic! Games sound way better. Music is so fun to listen to on the iPad Pro too. The 4GB of ram makes everything super fast. I ❤️ it!!!!
Tim says hybrids are compromised, all I see is compromised in this product though. Compromise on IO. Compromise on storage space. Compromise on a wobbly keyboard experience. Compromise on a single keyboard angle (after Microsoft went through so many iterations from one to three to an infinite position friction stand, no less). Compromise on gorilla arm, which Apple used to make fun of, and in this one there's not even an option for a trackpad to prevent it. The ipad Pro seems more like the definition of compromise than hybrids like the Surfaces.
I bought my iPad Pro and CREATE keyboard over a year ago, based on this review, so thank you for your excellent advice. I note in your later review of iPad Pro accessories you have altered your view of the Logitech CREATE keyboard, and now prefer the Apple keyboard. I loved the CREATE keyboard even more than the iPad - the backlit keyboard is excellent, having the ability to cmd-tab through apps is great and instant volume/brightness control is very useful. Unfortunately, you were right to anticipate difficulties with the physical construction. The two areas that hold the iPad into the cover began to crumble, and would not hold the iPad in place. The good news is that Logitech have redesigned the lid, and will replace the whole cover for free if you are within your two year warranty. The new case is much sturdier, and my (admittedly brief) use of the Apple alternative left me wondering where all the good keys are, and why it didn't protect the back of the screen, so I will continue to recommend the Logitech CREATE.
With a gamepad, this would be such a fantastic gaming system. I'm sure you can grab third party ones, however it would be interesting to see apple create their own one (although they'd probably charge an insane amount for it)
For me the iPad is a great laptop replacement because everything I do business wise & entertainment wise I am able to do using the supported iPad apps without the extra weight of my MacBook. I love an all in one device that I can throw in my bag for on the go. It's easier for me to have all my books, magazines, web browsing, presentations, notes, drawings, briefs, textbooks, flash cards, games, music, movies, cash register & etc in one place. Just to give you a little background I am a legal studies student, paralegal, & small business owner, so this is perfect for my life. I do plan to purchase the iPad Pro in the next week because the larger display will enhance my overall experience, but again this is only my opinion based on my life. I use my iPad for everything, and I just think deciding if this will replace your laptop or not depends solely on what you use your laptop for, the features you use in the full desktop applications you have & your budget.
you HAVE to make a video on the Apple Pencil. maybe in a smackdown with the surface pen, but you have to touch on it, it really is a game changer i would say.
Love my iPad pro. Returned my surface book pro 4 for a 128gb lte model. I hated the surface. Only got 4 hours of battery use. It got hot and was so buggy. The screen was not as responsive as the iPad. I'm getting 16 hours of battery life off my iPad pro. I haven't used my laptop since I bought it. I don't want or need the pencil or keyboard. I love iOS and the App Store. I've got nothing against Windows I have an Asus i7 laptop. I just like the simplicity of iOS.
I also hate my surface as its a buggy piece of shit with no battery. But I would only buy an iPad pro if I had money to burn, I just got a iPad mini for web browsing and media consumption while I save for a skylake laptop to do real work
Jake Gelly at last someone who agrees with me. You can get iPad pro's on contract for a fraction of the price. You just pay out for the data you use. What country are you in? In the uk you can get the 128gb 4g iPad pro for £120 and £35 a month. The iPad mini is amazing too.
+tracey cross if its not too much to ask ,how is it after month after usage ?,i did notice when i buy the Air 2 it did slow down after 1-2 month, but turns out it was faulty IOS update,I shouldn't update it but now it run IOS 9 it run perfectly like new
+tracey cross And also how was the split screen ? Is it kinda buggy? ,Since it was the thing that attracted me alot to the IPad pro

Your conclusion is really close to what you said about the surface RT back in years. Cannot run desktop apps, not so good laptop, etc. Of course the ecosystem is alot better, but to me it's still having a powerful tiger in a golden cage. Great review, as usual. Thanks !
I'm watching your review on my new iPad pro. I've had it less than 24hrs and for me it's an absolute game changer. Having a near A4 size screen makes this brilliant for reviewing and creating documents. For drawing apps it's superb, for mind mapping, for books that have a lot if diagrams etc, for browsing, for planning, for reference apps (like redshift, molecules...) the extra screen estate combined with the iOS apps and all day battery life are excellent. I've got a surface pro 3 (love the kick stand). But it doesn't have the range of apps I need for my work (though there are a couple that are Windows only). But my surface pro 3 doesn't get me through the day. The new keyboard on the iPad pro is great. I love having the number row. Though I'd like to have had the option of the split keyboard like on the iPad Air. I've got the Logitech keyboard but I'm thinking if returning it as the pro is more than big enough for me to use the onscreen keyboard for most situations.
Thanks for this great, thorough review, Lisa. I was pretty excited when Apple announced the iPad Pro and believed that Apple had finally made a tablet that could replace your laptop. But between the iffy keyboard, no pointer support, and apps not designed to take full advantage of the larger screen, it sounds like they aren't quite there yet. Perhaps by the time the iPad Pro 2 comes out they'll finally have ironed out all the kinks, added improved features to iOS, and have a full stable of iPad Pro optimized apps.
It would be better to Apple to add touch screen on the mac pro models rather than make bigger ipads and come one, Apple was the first to use complete panels on the screen, is it hard to put a touch screen instead???
Hi Lisa, please do a comparison between the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 4. I know a lot of people will point out that this is just iOS rather than a full OS such as Windows 10, but that would only be relevant if I wanted a laptop replacement. I want the best note taking experience in OneNote (and occasionally a media streaming device). I originally thought that OneNote (a Microsoft product) would be best on a Windows device. However, the apple pencil seems to work really well, and Microsoft has been adding features to the iOS version of OneNote, so I don't think the decision is so clear. Which stylus works better with OneNote, and is the iOS version still so limited in comparison to the Windows version? Great reviews!
Even though this is two years ago I think the iPad Pro is much improved and why I am not an early adopter and wait for the improved versions a year or so down the road but you have to start somewhere.
Do a SURFACE PRO 4/SURFACE BOOK vs iPad Pro comparison and which is the better buy. Great review as always, I'm glad I decided to buy a i7 surface pro 4 instead of the iPad Pro. Apple really goofed not putting OSX on the iPad pro, if I'm going to pay laptop prices then I expect a full OS. Apple obviously didn't learn from Microsoft's mistakes, the Surface Rt was essentially n iPad pro as it wasn't full windows and the device failed due to the lack of a real OS. No kick stand on the iPad pro is a huge deal breaker for most artists. Keyboard is overpriced for an inferior product compared to the type cover. No place to put your pen while traveling. IMO way to many downsides to buy a iPad pro over a surface pro 4.
+Costa “mrGREEK360” Apostolou You must be an idiot to ask for comparison between a big phone and a compact PC. No comparison, Surface wins, hands down. PS: One can make iPad Apps with Surface Pro but same cannot be said other way around! ;)

I'm dying to see a comparison between the Pencil and the Surface 4 stylus. Specifically latency and any feature variance. Excellent and thorough review!
I feel like it only makes sense in the $799 option with no accessories, MAYBE the pencil if you're really into art. I'd love the Surface Book to be an iPad Pro while in tablet mode but a beast laptop like it is when in laptop mode, but in tablet mode the Surface Book seems pretty bad. Apple has room to make an amazing device like that, just make the iPad pro run OSX or both OSX and iOS and there you go, but alas. Amazing review as always!
As a user of 2 Surface Pro 4's they have been buggy for me. Removed the type cover and touch screen stopped working properly. Reattached and trackpad mouse pointer not working. Microsoft really should get these bugs out, I wanted to love these devices. I purchased an iPad pro and have experienced zero problems.
I honestly wish you had just waited until you had a Pencil to review it. That's honestly the most interesting development in terms of iPad tech, but it's a moot point if you can't demo it.
This is best compared to the Google Pixel C. Lisa will you ever do a review of the Google Pixel C? Wonder how many will buy this though. For the price, even the old Surface 3 is a much better buy IMO.
Another great review Lisa. Do you think that with App,e adding multiple speakers to the Pro that they will do the same with the newer regular IPad next year?
Funny, I was hesitant to get the iPad Pro and your conclusion was not really positive. That being said, your review actually convinced me to buy one. I thought your review was great, and you made some valid points against it (especially at the current price point), but you also showed what a great device it is for media consumption. One thing that no reviewer has pointed out yet, is how great this tablet is for reading. With a screen that is basically the same side as a magazine, it'll be the perfect device to read comic books on. You could fit your entire library on it, and with a screen that great, it'll be even better than reading the actual comics. The same goes for reading your favourite magazines. As someone who subscribes to four different monthly magazines and reads a few more irregularly, the combination of the iPad Pro and a subscription to texture.com will be perfect. The iPad Air 2's screen is too small for that, and the 3:2 aspect ratio of the Surface Pro 4 isn't as suited to reading as the 4:3 aspect of the iPad is. The over three hours of extra battery life don't hurt either. I also like gaming on my iPhone quite a bit, and playing the likes of The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us (when Telltale fixes that for iOS 9) and Game of Thrones will probably be the most immersive way to play those. Not to mention games that offer controller support, or the games that'll be optimised for the A9X chip. According to GFXBenchmarks, the A9X actually outperforms the Intel Iris Pro 5200 in the 15" rMBP, so there definitely is an opportunity to bring console quality gaming to the iPad Pro. Lastly, the screen, size and weight, combined with the fairly good speakers, will make it an absolutely stunning device for watching video. Sure, the Surface Pro has less letterboxing due to its aspect ratio and supports way more video- and audio formats, but I'd much rather have the iPad Pro for watching video. Sure, the cons are valid: it might rival ultrabooks in terms of computing power, but iOS is not a full fledged OS. It just doesn't have the versatility that OS X or Windows have, and thus will seriously narrow down the functionality of your tablet. But mobile applications with their dedicated sandboxes are getting closer and closer in functionality to their desktop equivalents (and are much more accessible!). An app like Enlight, for instance, makes it much easier to edit photos for 90% of its users than Photoshop does. Sure, you miss the pro functions, but for most people, it's much easier to enrich their photos than Photoshop is. The mobile versions of Apple's productivity apps, or Microsoft's Office applications are more than adequate for basically every student. What I'm getting at is that you're right: it's not a full fledged laptop replacement and it it "just" a big iPad. But all things that the iPad does well, the iPad Pro does better, and for my personal use, it's better than every other tablet on the market. Yes, it's expensive. I even agree that it's too expensive for what it offers. But I can afford it, and it suits my usage, so I'm still getting one. Great review by the way, as always!
Excellent review, as always. For such a long rumored product, Apple seems to have really rushed this one. Personally, I'm only interested in it for drawing with the pencil. The tablet size is a bit much though; I'm hopeful the iPad Air will eventually support it. And IMHO, that Logitech keyboard is the UGLIEST keyboard accessory I have EVER SEEN. Red and gold? Who thought that would be a good idea? Even Elton John is saying, "Tone it down a little."
If there are trackpad support and a smoother way to save/share/view files, it will actually work. Now it's pretty awkward to use having to always go up to the screen for every small action.
8:37 What about Firefox or Chrome? Do either of those support multitasking, because maybe you can do side by side web browsing, just with different browsers.
Why? Is the question. It is too big for a consumption device, it is too under powered (OS) for a full featured device, it is too expensive to not meet any one of those criteria. At least if Apple would have put a stand built into the iPad Pro it would meet more needs. This is another example how Apple can make products for people who have more money then they know what to do with.
Corinn Heathers I would agree except OSX is crap for touch interfaces, so they would have to do a lot more than just add OSX. I do agree it is an oversize iPad.
+Witcherworks Bigger screen for multitasking is brilliant. I use ipad for many things such as productive apps for work while I need to keep other information available. Ipad Pro allows that easily. It also doubles nicely for watching netflix, youtube and more in a larger screen rather than squinting for details or holding the ipad all the way in my face. Lastly, in combination with the new pen it has the size of a solid notepad and the fine detail to actually scribble down things when in meetings and similar without having to mess around with the magnification tool that many note-taking apps offer. This also makes it easier to instantly drop things into Evernote. The larger screen and the finer detail pen makes it a great tool for both work, leisure and consumption.
Lisa, if you're going to do a comparison between the Surface Pro 4 and the iPad Pro, could you use the Core M3 model of the SP4? Not many people really talk about that variant and also it's within the same price range as the iPad Pro. Where should people put their money if they absolutely don't want fans within their computer?
Great review. Thanks also for summarising what you 'like' and use. It helps to know what your preference is in general. Not that you would ever show bias, its just interesting to know what you use. Good call.
It's strange but the pencil for me is the main attraction, second being the larger screen. I take notes and access emails so often while mobile at work that I think I would use this more than my desk laptop. I'm still tossing between getting a logitech keyboard or the Apple one- Logitech has back lit, and their protection at the back for the iPad, but it kind of makes the device bulky... will still have to decide between the two later on.
I really like your honesty with the review, I was thinking on getting one cause I love to draw and the pencil looks really cool but other than that my mini does everything I really need, keep up with the great reviews xD
I fall into the category Lisa mentioned: "I have a IPad Air 2 and want a bigger screen". I think there are other iPad Air 2 owners that want a bigger screen. Usually, you can predict the users like Lisa that won't like the IPad Pro before they even examine the device, those are the owners of the IPad Mini line.
hi Chris.. I'm trying to get a feel for the use case for this device. is there another major reason why you would get the iPad pro other than the screen size? I can see it maybe being a part of graphics/video editing people's work flow.. but obviously that demo will pale in comparison to the multitudes of casual users who will buy this product. I'm not an apple basher, but I often don't see the draw to many of apple's products when there are cheaper alternatives
It would be interesting to have a smack down with the Ipad Pro and the Galaxy note pro. Personally I am not a fan of the IOS being vary limited in work integration.
Hi Lisa, Thanks for the review. Please compare it to the surface pro. I'm interested in the screen and wifi mainly. Compare the color accuracy of the screen and RGB gamut. The wifi can you talk about the ability of the antenas to get a good signal because I travel allot and wifi antenas might be a decisive comparison. I like photography and have a X100T so I thinking about this two. Thanks.
$1400 128GB with Pencil and Keyboard for a tablet that's not ever going to replace a laptop is insane. The home screen should of have 6 rows by the way not 4, i have 5 rows on my iPad Air 2 128GB. This ain't no laptop replacement, it's a bigger iPad Air 2 with 30% more power. I can buy Dell XPS 2015 for $1300. just unbelievable
Great review Lisa... I think Apple missed the boat on this... It's not a pro product in my opinion. It's an oversized iPad. Can only download ios mobile and iPad apps.. This is really Apple's vision of the Windows surface RT.
Useful review. I looked at the iPad Pro and Surface Pro 4 (M3) at Best Buy. I am currently using the ipad Air 2 and the Surface Pro 1 (i5). Will wait for the Pencil to come out but right now looks to me like the Surface Pro 4 (i5) is the way to go for general Office use and Artwork sketching.
Hey Lisa! Thanks for the review! I always come check out your videos when I need an opinion on tech devices. Would you be able to do a Sony Xperia Z5 premium review?I had a ipad pro (which I returned) and totally agreed with you. It's a great device with lots of potential, but that potential is not met in this product. (They had great advertising though...) I looked at the device and said to it (in my head), "So... what can you do again?" The best feature (if not the only on the iOS) is the "Hey Siri" feature, which works wonderfully and much better than Cortana, except for the fact that it needs to be charging to work for the ipad but not for the iphone... I'm not too sure why they didn't put NFC (for the ApplePay they are advertising on their website) or the iPhone 6s cameras onto the device since the $1000 cellular model is basically a large iPhone... So much power, so little to do with it... For that keyboard cover, if you tilt it towards you to about a 90° angle, it'll disconnect from the iPad (the data connection, not the physical connection)...I would ask you to do a surface pro 4 comparison, but I am writing this on a surface pro 4 already (literally and it's a pain trying to get it to write what I want even though my handwriting is good). However, the surface is way too buggy that I've had as much device breaking software issues in the 3 days of owning the device than the 3 years of my custom built desktop computer... (My Surface doesn't even know the actual time anymore even though it's connected to the internet...) Personally, I'd say both the surface and ipad pro needs to get reworked -- surface on software and battery life and ipad on actually making something new (for that price). Going to wait for the 2016 MacBook Pro since it costs about the same for my needs.Again, big thanks for the review! And, if anyone's reading this and is going to get a surface pro, ask for 10% off for students!
To be honest this is exactly what I was expecting it to be. I'm an apple kind of guy. Ipad 4, macbook 13" retina 2011 and even an ipod classic. But this just doesn't make sense unless you specifically need a small niche (at which point you might run into alternatives). The OS is not adapted to the size it seems to me. It's not that you don't get enough for that price. It's just that the design seems to work against itself in so many ways.
It's nice to see someone look at this fairly and not just buy into the hype. It seems a lot of reviewers make up their minds before they actually even get a product in their hands, or they don't review on actual use or practicality. The iPad pro is beautiful, high quality, thin, light and powerful... But it doesn't seem to fill any niche that isn't already well served by something else. It's certainly not a laptop or even Surface killer. Sure, the Surface may be thicker and heavier (though it's not really thick or heavy) but that comes with a bunch of utility. Between the various ports, expandable storage, adjustable kickstand, not to mention the ability to work with a mouse, keyboard, monitor or any other accessory you throw at it, Surface is way ahead on function. Some people may not want or need those things, but then why would you want a $800 iPad over something cheaper and more portable? This product just feels kinda half-baked for Apple.
Can you do a comparison with the new MacBook? I feel like the iPad pro provides the same functions, and its ios and toouch so kinda makes the MacBook obsolete
as a designer this is the product I've been waiting for. The stylus combined with the adobe creative suite apps and graphic and procreate this is what I need to do initial designs to then send to desktop. I have a Samsung note10.1 which has a decent stylus but no apps. I did have a surface pro but Photoshop and illustrator just aren't designed to be used on small tablets. the mobile apps are just more useful for me. I don't want to create a finished piece of work on the iPad I want to start the work and then finish on desk top. I'm hoping this is going to be as useful as it looks.
lisa, the 3d mark score is unfair, the iPad pro has a much higher resolution than the surface pro 3. thats why they have a similar score. in reality the graphics is nearly 60-70 percent faster than the fastest surface pro 4, take a look at the arstechnica review. also the processor is computationally the same as i5, just a little different architecture. good review. thanks.
All I am interested in is possibly using it for video streaming on iTunes, Hulu, Netflix, CBS All Access, and Amazon Video. I can't imagine using it for much else and certainly would not replace my MacBook Air with one. I'd recommend getting AppleCare for anyone that buys one. The screen replacement cost for it on Apple's site is $599 for the screen!
Have been using an iPad pro for a few days now after returning both a surface book and surface pro. The iPad is crazy fast and felt faster than both i5 surfaces. Battery life is almost double on the iPad vs surfaces. The iPad doesn't crash every five minutes or throw graphic adapter errors like the surfaces. Seriously, how does a software company like Microsoft create great hardware but can't deliver a stable software experience? and I'm tired of hearing the excuse that it's the third party suppliers fault that the surfaces are buggy.
+michael99uk - I can assure you that I do know the difference. Michael performance on a computing device is not only determined by it's specifications but you have to consider the OS and architecture of the device. I own both the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 4. What good is a x86 processor in a device that only gets 4-5 of battery time with buggy software? I already own a MacBook Pro which does my heavy lifting. The iPad Pro is a perfect companion device for meetings, social, web, and entertainment. The Surface Pro 4 fails as both a PC and and tablet in my opinion. I can't afford spending 30% of my computing time tracking down bugs and restarting the Surface because Microsoft failed to perform proper QC before shipping it. Actually they probably knew the Surface Book and Pro were buggy as hell but decided to release it anyways because they care more about driving revenue than delivering a COMPLETE and USABLE computing experience.
+John Zito How? Under what conditions? Under what build? so many factors involved that we can't take anything seriously or even explore the problem until you provide a reference
Good review. Although your resistance for this product kind of shows your hidden Windows preference. Just wanted to point out that we can actually use all of those powerful desktop Apps you mention (Adobe or Autodesk) with the iPad as well. Go check out an app called "Astropad" which tuns that nice big screen into a portable Cintiq for actual work for professionals.
why do people think you have to use an extended keyboard to use this iPad? I never use keyboards with any of the iPads that I have used including the mini4.
I've been hearing about how this outperforms the 13" Macbook pro in single core benchmarks and overall beats the 12" retina macbook in cpu performance, which makes me wonder why they couldn't put a modified version of this processor in say the 12" macbook?
As a surface pro 3 owner, I can't believe how ridiculous this ipad pro is. It doesn't matter how fast it is (and it's not that fast, it's almost as fast as a core i3), it is still a MOBILE OS.
+Kung Lao Master Actually no. Prior to my surface, I had a lenovo ultrabook and a ipad. I used the ultrabook for media creation and the ipad for reading and web browsing. I was not very pleased becausa I had to carry both of them all the time. So, I sold both and bought the Surface pro 3. I'm very happy with it, and despite the bitter price, it is perfect for both work and fun.
+Kung Lao Master "I can see surface owners right now sitting there disagreeing with their arms crossed mumbling hahaha good review lisa ;)" Here's your previous comment Kung Lao Master and one can see it if they just scroll down below. Accussing this man of being the "typical" Apple hater is a typical "stupid Apple fanboi" reply. (Oh see what I did there?) Nobody is praising this "Pro" device from Apple because THERE IS NOTHING TO PRAISE. The price does not justify what it can do. Did you even listen to what Lisa said at the end? "Honestly I think that any art professional would love to have this as an ACCESSORY to their usual work set-up. This doesn't have full photoshop, this doesn't have all the tools that are available certainly to do real work on a real computer, to put it the cliche way, but as an accessory something you can take away to do some sketching on..." This is a decent way of saying this product is shit as it doesn't do much. You can use it to play around with sketching or viewing your social media accounts. A product at this price, size, and only running mobile OS it is ridiculous.
fantastic review as usual. Apple version of my Samsung Galaxy Note pro 12.2 certainly is more powerful, as it's newer, however I still much prefer the Note pro 12.2. I can multitask into 4 screens, have a far better keyboard, and Samsung's version of Microsoft Office ,which is great, and SD card expansion that allows me to have unlimited storage space. And on today's market the note pro 12.2 is half the price of Apple's version. Look around folks.
The iPad Pro looks really nice and its very tempting to buy it because of the screen ratio it don't feel awkward holding it any way (as long as you get use to the size), it has 4GB ram which makes it fantastic for multitasking and overall its a very powerful device but I cant see myself spending that much money on something that don't have a full blown operating system. I really like both Android and IOS both are great but Id rather spend that money on a nice good looking ultrabook like a MacBook air or the zenbook. Great review by the way!
I'm going to college next year. Do you think a iPad Pro will be sufficient to get my work load done or should I stick to a macbook? Also btw I will be majoring in business.

Lisa, you are fast ! !! I am expecting an iPad pro vs. surface pro 4 comparison, am I correct?!
No comparison thou. Surface wins hands down!!!
+SavageArfad vs iOS :((((
they are totally bipolar products. you might also like a comparion between skittles and mahi mahi.
ipad pro = bigger ipad ._.
Surface Pro 4 = Full Professional Computer (:
Why would you compare a iPad to a surface? Ones a crappy bloated iPad with a mobile OS and ones a full PC
"Boy, the days of easy to memorize resolution surely are gone these days"
Except for the Surface Book of course, the easiest of them all. Just 3000x2000, exactly 5 million pixels. So satisfying :P
Love your reviews! Can we open Chrome and Safari side by side?
damn it why do your reviews have to be so GREAT?!?! I love your reviews!
This is the best review of the iPad Pro yet. It's honest, critical, and complimentary. Nice to see a review without the Apple bias that you see with so many of the tech blog sites out there. i.e. The Verge, Mashable...
Very honest review I'd have to agree, just having a larger screen and a pencil don't really justify the expense.
it doesnt have the pencil
+William Talbert It has the best hardware too.
I have to say that Lisa is one of the best tech reviewers out there. Great work!
JerTheGeek predicted the future here
A really good Review and really fast!
Many greetings from Germany !
I'm agree with you. In my personal opition, it would be an option if it doesn't exist any other option like surface pro that it's completely a desktop computer.
that icon gap is so ugly ~
+Gerald Andrade I have been saying this since the ipad 2 came out, no hope. hehe
+Gerald Andrade They will, when the tPad Pro Air 2 comes out ;-(
+Gerald Andrade Yeah, Android OS's have had expanded icon grids for years.

Does it play Flappy Bird? If so then I'll buy it.
+One lol
+One It plays it 50 times faster wow!
+One screw flappy bird! imagine clash of clans on this baby!
No. That game has been gone for several years now
Grayson Maximillian Phoenix its ranking on google play and iOS app store beg to differ :)
You should compare the surface pro 4 and iPad pro!
yasssssssss the second full review of the ipad pro on youtube.
My only concern with the Logitech case is that the keys will scratch the screen and not protect it properly what are your thoughts
+Ryan King It has left some smudges but hasn't scratched the screen yet. I'm keeping an eye on it!
+Ryan King Screen protector should solve that issue
It would be better to Apple to add touch screen on the mac pro models rather than make bigger ipads and come one, Apple was the first to use complete panels on the screen, is it hard to put a touch screen instead???
kids and seniors are going to love the new IMAX screen. No touch OS X, no usb or sd ports, but the screen will be nice for netflix.
Such an amazing review Lisa!!! So honest and in depth! I can always count on you to bring such a fast and in depth review. Keep up the good work :)
Love your review.
Question: "Does the logitech keyboard touching the iPad screen?"
When I say do a comparison, I mean do a more in depth comparison.
+Costa Apostolou (“mrGREEK360”) Surface Pro 4 without hesitation.

The empty space between the icons is driving me nuts.
Another excellent review as usual. Looking forward to the SP4/iPadPro smackdown.
Apple really need to send you their products for reviews. Your reviews are awesome!! Come on now Apple!
Honest review! Thank you Lisa
This is best compared to the Google Pixel C. Lisa will you ever do a review of the Google Pixel C?
Wonder how many will buy this though. For the price, even the old Surface 3 is a much better buy IMO.
You underrated Lisa! Great review on a device I can't justify paying for.
Great review by the way, as always!
little kids go like "mommy mommy I want the iPad pro"
Somehow gets one...
Plays fruit ninja and clash of clans all day long
Excellent review, as always.
+Edison Tsang iOS doesn't support a mouse, hence why there is no trackpad.
8:37 What about Firefox or Chrome? Do either of those support multitasking, because maybe you can do side by side web browsing, just with different browsers.
Lisa your conclusion does hit the nail on the head, great review.
Thanks for the great review. I was on the fence with this but now I'll be waiting.
It's amazing how much iOS looks and acts like TouchWiz and regular Android.
+Witcherworks Sadly it works, they have a lot of billions in the bank.
+Witcherworks If this had OSX it'd be a legit Surface 4 Pro competitor. With iOS it's just an oversized iPad.
+Ghroznak and there are devices that can do that plus more for the same price. You could have just said, "For what I do IOS works".
The iPad is not a computer. There's your answer.
+gameshoes Not if you buy the style fom Apple.
I'd like to see a comparison between the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 4.
1st and I can't see ios matching windows in terms of productivity
+John Ruter mine 2 minutes ago FFFIIIIRRRSSSSTTTTT
IOS isnt suposed to beat Full Windows. U can compare Windows Rt to IOS. IOS wins by faaaaaar.
i commented by my android phone
i commented by my android phone
Levin Be
+Levin Be but they're advertising it to replace your laptop, that's why I compared it to Windows, especially since it's up against the surface pro 4
Great review. Thanks also for summarising what you 'like' and use. It helps to know what your preference is in general. Not that you would ever show bias, its just interesting to know what you use. Good call.
What is that donut thing you have the iPad pro sitting on a few minutes into the video?
+TheEBrig The stand is called "The Stump". Sells for around $25.
+MobileTechReview compare with the surface pro 4 maybe?
+MobileTechReview Could you please do a review of the asus k501ux gaming laptop?
+MobileTechReview is it a requirement that someone asks you about the stump for every video. you should start each video with a link to purchase one.
+MobileTechReview You should start selling them, get commission lol.
i heard from a person at the apple store saying that Apple is coming out with their own response to the MS surface pro
It's strange but the pencil for me is the main attraction, second being the larger screen.
I take notes and access emails so often while mobile at work that I think I would use this more than my desk laptop.
I'm still tossing between getting a logitech keyboard or the Apple one-
Logitech has back lit, and their protection at the back for the iPad, but it kind of makes the device bulky...
will still have to decide between the two later on.
Another excellent review, thanks Lisa!
It would be interesting to have a smack down with the Ipad Pro and the Galaxy note pro. Personally I am not a fan of the IOS being vary limited in work integration.
Can you tell me where you got that tablet stand? I love it! And love the review!
The largest iPad ever built. It can be also substitute or added to your desktop setup.
This product just feels kinda half-baked for Apple.
those spaces between icons.
OMFG
Just in general, what would I use any iPad for? I mean I want one, but partly because I have no iOS device, need to justifiy it first.
Please take a video of yourself doing actual work on the ipad pro and using the pen and markup and things such as that
I think this would be perfect if you can use the Magic Mouse if you get the keyboard case
Can you do a comparison with the new MacBook? I feel like the iPad pro provides the same functions, and its ios and toouch so kinda makes the MacBook obsolete
thanks for the review I look forward to hearing your opinion on these products
as a designer this is the product I've been waiting for.
I like your honesty. I will just get the iPad air.
Soooo... This is a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro about 2 years later and iOS?
Great review as always.
lisa, the 3d mark score is unfair, the iPad pro has a much higher resolution than the surface pro 3. thats why they have a similar score. in reality the graphics is nearly 60-70 percent faster than the fastest surface pro 4, take a look at the arstechnica review. also the processor is computationally the same as i5, just a little different architecture. good review. thanks.
nice review Lisa i like your honesty and you're funny at the same time :)
+John Zito Hey look, guys... a Troll!
+Bas Jansen oh yeah forgot to mention I am getting 10-11 hours of battery time on the iPad Pro vs 4-5 at best with the Surface Pro 4.
+John Zito You simply don't know the difference between X86 and ARM, its good that you got an iPad stick with it.
Honest and fair! That's why I like your channel, Lisa. Keep it up 👍🏽
Good review.
THE BO$$ OF REVIEWS. THANKS LISA!
Wow this ipad is the best device to watch videos on youtube and check facebook!
+El Gato de OS lol
Not for the price it's not my iPad Air 2 will more then do the job.
+El Gato de OS If you notice the huge black bars on the Ipad pro when you watch video.. you won't say so...
haha!
Still waiting for the Nexus 6p review. a lil bit overdue Lisa anyway good review by the way
I think your reviews are great.
why do people think you have to use an extended keyboard to use this iPad? I never use keyboards with any of the iPads that I have used including the mini4.
Thanks Lisa, awesome indepth review!
great review Lisa love you vids always value your opinion on tech products . thanks
+Kung Lao Master "I can see surface owners right now sitting there disagreeing with their arms crossed mumbling hahaha good review lisa ;)"
Here's your previous comment Kung Lao Master and one can see it if they just scroll down below. Accussing this man of being the "typical" Apple hater is a typical "stupid Apple fanboi" reply. (Oh see what I did there?)
Nobody is praising this "Pro" device from Apple because THERE IS NOTHING TO PRAISE. The price does not justify what it can do. Did you even listen to what Lisa said at the end?
"Honestly I think that any art professional would love to have this as an ACCESSORY to their usual work set-up. This doesn't have full photoshop, this doesn't have all the tools that are available certainly to do real work on a real computer, to put it the cliche way, but as an accessory something you can take away to do some sketching on..."
This is a decent way of saying this product is shit as it doesn't do much. You can use it to play around with sketching or viewing your social media accounts. A product at this price, size, and only running mobile OS it is ridiculous.
My biggest problem with my SP 3 is that the fan kicks on even if I look at it wrong. How do you deal with that?
+Michael Goff I noticed that too... but it doesn't annoy me at all
Ueliton Santos
I had been hoping you had an answer. I hear the SP4 fixes it, but that's an expensive fix.
fantastic review as usual.
Please please surface pro 4 vs ipad pro.. btw always gret review.
I hope I'm not replying too late... But, stay with a Macbook. You will need Excel so much. So, bootcamp Windows in your Mac.
