To get the grab switch buffer-you can’t be on guard or landing a combo. You need to hit attack at least 1 step away and whiff the button presses for the grab buffer to work.
On a real note this guide just upped my game play 10 fold!!

The switch in the middle of a combo doesn’t always stop the support for multiple reasons. Some jutsu support go through because they are simply uncancellable even when interrupted. Other reasons why it doesn’t go through are simply due to positioning. Some supports get called out in different positions from where the combo/switch are taking place and most times its the main characters combo that pulls you and the opponent away from the original position from where the support was called out or the switch occurred.
