I was blasting this in my car the other day with the window down. And some woman in the lane next to me started singing it out loud. That was awesome to see.
I vaguely remember I had this album as a kid but most of the songs had escaped my memory after all these years. I'm 31 now and was mostly familiar with the ones that got airtime on Cartoon Network like "Go Monkey Go" in particular, "Buttercup (I'm a Super Girl)" by Shonen Knife, and "Signal In The Sky (Let's Go) by Apples in Stereo. I think I knew Frank Black's "Pray For the Girls" too but I haven't re-listened to it yet.
Same. I knew that the brothers in Devo Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh were the composers of the "Rugrats" series on Nickelodeon but I was too young to know about their regular discography. I know "Whip It" was their big hit though but no one in my family as far as I know listened to New Wave music so I was never really exposed to Devo in other ways but it actually took me til today to realize that Devo sings "Witch Doctor" from "The Rugrats Movie". Remember the scene with the circus monkeys?
There is a great reason why this music soundtrack is one of the best. And no, it isn’t simply because of nostalgia sake. Rather it is because of great choice in how they made this song and also timing and choice for this one. Try listing to the part starting from 0:20. For those who say this is one of the worst, not only hate music in general, but completely miss the point

Is it weird I find mtself relating to this song a little? Like, honest to god I feel some of these lyrics to my core. Seriously, take away the lyrics directly mentioning Mojo and it sounds like it could be about anyone about to lose it and not knowing what to do about it.
True, but H.I.M. was really more dangerous than any enemy the Powerpuff Girls had to deal with based on how crafty and manipulative he really was. Even Mojo Jojo and the other main villains were envious of what powers H.I.M. was capable of.

I was confused why DEVO was on this album, until I learned Mark Mothersbaugh wrote a LOT of music for cartoons and video games.
Didn't he do Rugrats too???

Devo was always singing about mankind devolving and monkeys. They just used the concept of Mojo Jojo as an excuse to make a Devo song.
It's a song about a monkey. De-evolution was kind of Devo's thing, and they were obsessed with monkeys. So I think it fits just fine.
