I’ve done this flight all the way through to Auckland a fair few times. Yes, it is long, but when you manage to get sky couch, it makes the trip much more bearable. Every time, the flight crew have been friendly and are willing to start up a conversation. As I do live in New Zealand, it has overjoyed me to see someone outside of our country speaking about this airline with such high zest. Thank you for this detailed trip report about a small airline.
Air New Zealand’s flight attendants are really so friendly. They’re equally friendly to the economy passengers as they are to first class. The food is also amazing. Definitely one of my favourite airlines.
As I have zero interest in Rugby, I must say that I really loved the Black and White colour scheme of the aircraft. It was very different from all other aircraft's I have been on in the past. Well done, NZ, from a Brit now living in NZ for the past 16 years.

As an American, Air NZ is one of my favorite international airlines; because they always do a solid, professional job in every aspect of the flight. And they feed you twice for free. And ANZ's meals aren't half-bad when it comes to airline food; it was pretty filling and left me very satisfied. Over the years I flew on several ANZ flights between LAX and my favorite Pacific paradise, RAR.
Air New Zealand has always been a favourite for me and i always try and plan my trips around them!! Great service food and over all customer satisfaction :)

I thought the food was just okay in economy and premium economy but as you noted, their service is really great. Also, the premium economy seats are really comfortable. Love Air New Zealand. I got to fly this very aircraft from AKL to LAX back in 2012 after my first trip to Australia. Great video. I hope to fly Air New Zealand again some day
Great video. I work for Air New Zealand at Auckland airport as a air craft cleaner. I get to help clean the airplane ready for passenger to board, great people to work with but I think all the staff that works behind the scenes doesn’t get noticed by many

Awesome Review!! Love always seeing the Fern (All Black Plane) flying overhead as i live in Brisbane, Australia now. New Zealand was Home for my Younger Years lol. Glad to see your Flight went well.
I love seeing special livery planes. But since I work here at Honolulu airport, I always see the All Black planes, either on their 777s or their 787s. Oh and I miss seeing their Lord of the Ring livery too. But now, I’ve been seeing the ANA’s A380 flying Honu, the blue one and the the green one. Can’t wait to see their orange one.
Flew on this aircraft last November LAX-AKL, the extra $$$ we spent on SkyCouch was well worth it. Seatbelts took a bit of working out first time round but I have to say the cabin crew were super helpful - way better than their domestic or Trans-tasman crews.
@@PlaneSpottingBerlin If you're travelling alone, yeah sky couch can be very expensive. For two of us however it was a much better option both financially and comfort wise than premium economy.
Great airline! Flew them in premium economy Houston-Auckland, Auckland-Queenstown, Christchurch-Sydney and finally Sydney-Auckland-Houston. I was afraind a 14 hour flight might tempt suicide, wasn't bad at all. Great food, drink, entertainment and crews. Premium Economy was about 50% more but well worth it, pretty much like domestic US first class. The whole fare was $3k pp and also included connecting flights from and to Charleston, SC from Houston. Thought it was quite reasonable.
1:55 This plane looks stunning. If the nose / cargo doors had a dash more white, it'd look like an enormous Orca ruling the skies as well as the oceans. She is absolutely superb.
Thanks for the review. I love the service on NZ short and medium haul routes, but never taken a long haul with them yet. For my next LHR - LAX trip, I will seriously consider NZ as an option instead of just going with the 'usual suspects'.
You can see now why Air NZ wins multiple awards year after year. Flew on a Air NZ 777-ER from Hong Kong to Auckland. I'm a kiwi, so maybe be a tad biased , but I couldn't fault them.

Funny hearing an AirNZ crew member with an Irish accent (when you boarded flight and also making landing announcements at LAX). Probably someone’ from their London-based crew. BTW you were very lucky to get that row to yourself. Those AirNZ flights are usually pretty full!

I had an option to upgrade Skycouch but it would have cost double the price of this round trip flight... in the end I got a free row anyways 😅😍
