Beautiful Ship! If you ever are in the NYC area, I volunteer on a retired FDNY Fireboat that is now owned by a nonprofit and tours the Hudson and is fully functional. It’s called the John J. Harvey and it is 92 years old. She came out of retirement and pumped for 80 hours during 9/11.
@@DAngeloDino I would love to do that!!.. I've have seen the Firefighter at a distance.. but it would be great to see one of these great older fire boats
Great video. Your video tour does it justice. Thank you Red for sharing this on your channel and thank you Boat 2 and FS 112 for being so community minded and showing what a fire boat is and what it does. Oh, and I love the candid pelican moments in the video.
It was a lot to take in! I hope folks have the patience to sit through the whole thing and experience it for themselves. Sadly I missed the sea lions 💔 Thank you so much, Mark!
The controls on that ship is amazing. With those pumps and electronics, i say their's a lot of maintenance. Cool that you got to go out. Wow can't believe how big those anchors were. Great tour.😮
Thank you! It’s a little different from my usual content, but I’m not one to say no when given an opportunity like this. I do have a subscriber who volunteers on a historic fire boat in NYC, so that will happen next time I’m there!
I worked in port of LA/LB on an oil barge/tug and I must say this video was awesome. Next time you’re there you should try to do a similar one onboard the Long Beach fire boat. (Fireboat 15)
Thank you! My normal content is trucking related, but one of my Facebook followers arranged this for me last year. Happy to tour any machines or facilities! Glad this one has been appreciated :)
It was over a year ago. September 2023. I squeezed 2 weeks of activities into 4 days. I’ll definitely include the Iowa next time! This was a pretty last minute activity a Facebook follower arranged for me between a 4-hour horse ride in Griffith park & flying home!!! I slept for 2 days when I got back to Ohio 😅
This is not at all my area of expertise - everything he said blew my mind! It was an absolutely wild experience, and I’m glad people are still watching & learning! I wish more would.

Several good friends have lived there since high school & college, and I’m overdue a visit. I’ll let you know when it happens!

Thank you for watching! Not my usual content, but same format, and big cool machines are big cool machines!

Great job bringing us the beauty, complexity and strength of the boat.. Crew must spend days polishing... Thanks MFR
Thanks for watching it!
Great video. I've always wanted to see inside a fire boat.
Thanks for the tour, these fire boats are amazing
Thanks for watching!
A very interesting video. I think that you were lucky that this guy was on duty.
I’m lucky that one of my Facebook followers/customers had the connection and thought to make it happen for me!
AWESOME VIDEO OF LA CITIYS FINEST L.A.F.D.

Nice. I remember when they built that station. I think they were still using the old boat at that time.
Thanks Red👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for putting them on there. Brings back memories from my childhood, and when my old man drove.
Interesting, thank you!
They were all so nice & happy to share the story of the fire boat! Thanks for watching & going along for the ride :)

George Peppard reincarnated as a fire boat captain.
Do the bumps and hoses need flushing with fresh water
Battleship Iowa volunteer here. What day did you take the tour of the Fire Station?

So cool. Did you tour the navy ship that went off during the filming of this?
No, no time. I went straight to the airport from here. Next time!
It is the USS Iowa, the one whose gun turret exploded
I have a model of that boat!
"We draw 14.5', I'm not going into anything that's less than 15'." Yikes. Six inches doesn't give you a whole lot margin for error.

If you use the word “zilch” you may be an 80’s kiddo.
I’m not that old!!
