  • Numero Dos. The first one was roughly a month ago and since I’ve conjured more clips earlier than prior from my favorite severe weather livestreamer.

What's the difference between a tornado emergency and a PDS tornado?

Tornado Emergency is an enhanced tornado warning only used when a confirmed, large, and destructive tornado is confirmed and heading towards a populated area. It is the highest level of any warning that comes from the NWS.
A PDS (particularly dangerous situation) tornado warning is basically enhanced wording to convoy an urgent situation (I.E. a confirmed tornado is on the ground.) I think It’s only issued by NWS offices in the central region on an experimental basis.
Tornado emergency is loosely defined and the weather service is toying around with different wording (PDS vs Emergency)
PDS can also be used to convey other warnings like wind chill warnings, flash floods, and severe watches and warnings when they are confident it will be an exceptionally dangerous situation.

A tornado emergency is when a strong, violent and deadly tornado is headed for populated areas (i.e., Oklahoma City, OK). A PDS tornado warning is when a tornado becomes strong, violent, and deadly, but is not headed for populated areas or for areas with disperse and spread out population.
