Thank you Tecopa Mines & Pat for the tour of your mine shafts & square set & broke in 1/2 / 12" timber! Wow! Nice time to exit when you hear sounds! * haunted !
If you consider the years those timbers have been doing their jobs even with the earth doing the shake rattle and roll. Mines are never "finished" theres just places that you either timber back up or just avoid. Good thing you know the difference.
Yes, I tell everyone on the tours. These minds were only meant to be temporary and they’ve all well exceeded their “sell by” date. It’s a testament to the early minor skill, but these places will all be gone eventually.
Gotta wonder if that big quake up in NorCal on December 5th has anything to do with the mine being more "noisy" than you're used to it being. I know it was strong enough to get the water moving over at Devil's Hole about 40 miles north of you.
You do give the best mine tours on the internet Ross. Big boulder in that one area above the ladder looks more like the Sword of Damocles! Rest of the roof is just shards of huge boulders waiting their chance to come down in spite of best they could do attempts to hold them at bay way back in the day. Looking more like the Jenga room of death.
Man please be careful! That looks soooo dangerous. You’re right about “Jenga for keeps”! Just wondering if when you go exploring if you advise anyone on the outside, just in case? Be safe! 😮
WOW that would make me nervous. I'm assuming your plans are to *repair that whole area, Ross, over time, rather than just seal it up. I am glad there were friends waiting outside the mine, should they be needed. 👏🏻👏🏻
It will take some time and lots of new wood to get things in order. Plenty of explosives and pick-and-shovel work too. It’ll probably never happen in my lifetime, but ain’t gonna lie, I’m looking to see what I can do.
Husband speaking sitting at the kitchen table coloring a picture in a color by number book. Also I am in Cebu PH. to get away from the cold in Wash. State. And I am as close as I want to get to crawling around in an old mine. 😁
Stephen King may be an excellent author, but man, he ruined the reputation of the Tommyknockers. They’ve never been evil or malevolent or dangerous…. Helpers at best, pranksters at worst. They’re the good guys underground-they are the ones that let you know when bad things are coming and sometimes, rumor has it, they leave you artifacts to find.
The weight and pressure on those timbers must be enormous. Some of them, big as they are, were crushed and broken like matchsticks. Lumber like that used in the mine would cost a small fortune today- if you could get it at all. I guess those old miners had to be carpenters, architects and engineers as well as tunnel diggers and blasters. I have to admit the mine shafts look like scary places to me. It's too bad you don't stumble across a huge gold deposit, the legendary Mother Lode. Then you'd be rich & famous. Watch out for bats and scorpions!
Great video I love the old workings !
I was glad to see that daylight up ahead of you both!!!
good real time mine tour, thanks
“Jenga for keeps”😜💜💜💜

I worked construction for 50 years and i never saw anything that could snap an 8 X 8 in half! No wonder you guys believe in god!

*Jenga-jungle = understatement.* *I believe that section is talking to ya.*

Oh yes, I have a whole team top side that knows where we are in the mine and when we plan be back out.
I want to know how Pat walks on the walls like that ;)
Cue a certain Carole King song ... 😮😜
Yeah that’s just your common “mine bears” farting after a meal of lost mine explorers!
You know darn good and well that we haven’t lost any explorers back in there as far as anyone can prove.
One of these days you're going to run into some Sleestack lol
Better Sleestaks than Morlocks. 😉

The term "Jenga for keeps" is now in my lexicon.
I recognize that sound as carnivorous squirrels
Tommy knockers are you friends! Geeze, be careful down there!
Time, and pressure.

Definitely some violent shattering going on there. Far worse than after a hot Indian Currie...
I guess we have to bla,e Steven King for the noises in there (Tommyknockers)...

We got lots of bats and some of the older workings. I keep an eye on them so they’ve got a safe place to be.
How old is this mine? Your sense of adventure is inspiring!
It was originally opened in the late 1800s but the bulk of its work was done in this area in the 1940s and 50s
👍🐾
Dora the explorer has nothing on Pat. Doing Dum stuff is pretty cool for a one legged miner.
Back at the saloon🥃🚬.Wheres Ross, why don't he write?
A 3 hour tour rattle
Hi.
That place must be haunted that whole area is haunted if I don't see you Merry Christmas I don't say happy holidays I ain't no communist
Definitely >not< part of a tour route!
You’re right, we only take folks through the stable portions.
To clear that out and make it safe you would have to start at the top and work down. Not going to happen I suspect.
Not on my budget. Although I think we could be cleared from the bottom by blowing those boulders into smaller fragments, but again, not on my budget.
Slow your camera down. You can't tell which way is up
This is not a channel to count on. (Kind of sick humor, sorry.)
A nice overview of your area. ruclips.net/video/X8xW1wfvW0Y/видео.htmlfeature=shared
