I purchased a Series 9 (45mm, non-cellular, sport band) last month. It's my first smart watch so I have no point of comparison, but so far I'm happy with the quality and functionality of the device.
@@Blue824 That's a hard question to answer because, for me anyway, the Series 9 watch is a luxury, not a necessity. I did fine for years with an iPhone 6S Plus and a $30.00 Timex Expedition (which I still have). I do like the ability to see the weather and texts at a glance, and I've even taken phone calls on it. But I think my favorite feature is navigating while I'm hiking using GPS, which my iPhone 14 doesn't have.
@@Blue824I use my Apple Watch to make rq phone calls and texts rather than me pulling the phone out of my pocket or reaching for it because it’s very unnecessary imo. I also have weather and temperature displayed on it too because I always check those before I go out somewhere.
I had the Ultra 2 for a few days and returned it for the series 9. I jog three times a week and didn’t like the weight feel during my runs. Even though ultra 2 is durable, I kept bumping into things more often in the few days I had it compared to never while using my series 9 for almost two weeks. I am 5’10, weigh 205 lbs, and I still feel the 49mm is too bulky for my taste. Series 9 is the perfect fit for users who workout and run. Thankfully it was on sale for $379 (45mm GPS only).
Haha, it's so funny to read that the Ultra is massive, when for several decades, practically since my youth, I wore massive G-Shocks that are both bigger and heavier, but even those felt pretty normal.
@@Oleg__ I grew up in the late 90s and I remember them being bulky which is why I never wanted one. But for sure I don’t remember plastic watches being heavier than an Apple Watch Ultra.
@@WidePhotographs You're wrong if you think all G-Shocks are plastic. As an example, let me give you the best-selling GW-9400 Rangeman, which weighs 93 grams (61 grams Ultra). And I, like many people, adore this, already legendary G-Shock. Or the GMW-B5000 all stainless steel, weighing 167 grams. And people wear it with pleasure.
Just bought my U2 damn it’s good I first thought it looked too big after wearing it for a week it’s normal. I get 2-3 days. I don’t have all notifications on which helps. Awesome watch I didn’t like Garmin Fenix 7 pro.
Decided to pick the S9 41mm since it looks nicer on my hand (I prefer wearing small watches/under 40mm). Paired it with an aftermarket rubber strap that are thinner than Apple's. In total it only weighs 46g which is very comfortable and almost unnoticeable most of the time.
i love the long battery life and larger screen of the ultra 2, but it's size and thickness makes it uncomfortable to wear all day/night, so series 9 wins out for me, because long battery life and larger screen is no use to me if i am not wearing it.
The display isn't really any bigger. 1.9 to 1.92 inches. No human can perceive the 0.02 inches. This is not an argument for the ultra. I have a 7 stainless steel and am super satisfied. I bought the Ultra and sent it back after a week and kept my 7. The reasons are the nicer design, especially the stainless steel. I don't care about the battery. I charge my watch every second night. That's completely ok. It lasts 1 hour then I have 100%
Great video I just picked up the Apple Watch Ultra for $300 on Facebook Marketplace and the battery life is a game changer if you ever used any other Apple Watch. Also this video just reassured me that I'm not really missing out on anything when compared to the Ultra 2. Just Subscribed.
That's my personal choice, if I had the money for the ultra 2, why not, but only if I had the money for it .. because I don't see the point .. for most people, having the series 9 is absolutely good for them .. yes the battery .. but spending 799 for the bigger battery ?? really ? and most people are living the always on activated (if they cared that much they would turn off the AOD). If you turn off the AOD, with a series 9 you have almost 2 ays of battery and at least, a full full day of battery through the day. when you go showering, you put that on charger, it gets all the way to 80-100 .. that's it.. I don't know ... both are great but it's just on how you want people to see you at the end
Very nice video But where is the stainless steel? I keep thinking that maybe i should go back to it. My ultra keep scratch my cars right rear door (Right had drive) 😂
Fun fact: The most expensive apple watch is the Apple watch edition, it is 18 Karat gold series 3 which retailed for 10,000 USD. But if you dont consider it as its outdated, the Apple watch hermes is 1300 USD!
So glad u made this video, just like you said im looking at the Ultra 1 and series apple watches and noticing the price similarities and cant decide lol
Ultra 1 is the best value right now because of the price (it costs the same as a Series 9, but bigger face). Internally, it's almost identical in specs (minute differences most users won't notice) to the U2. The biggest difference being the screen brightness which to me is a gimmick more than anything else. Battery life is identical to the 2, except in low power mode, where the 2 gets about 12 more hours of use. Outside of that, they are pretty much identical. The U2 is superior for diving, but honestly if I'm diving, I'm not counting on my Apple Watch. There are better devices out there for this. All Ultras have crappy bands, so get the cheapest configuration because you're going to be upgrading that from day one. Currently as it stands, U1 can be found on Amazon for 549.00
Ok switched off the always on display like why not. (Feels strange and needs time to get used to moving the hand to have a look, reminds me of my Apple Watch 3)
Now that Apple is pulling these due to a lawsuit, I grabbed the ultra 2. If they stay pulled they'll gain value and in the far future a collector might very well be looking for one of these and willing to pay way more than what they cost.
i choose the Ultra 2 because of Sapphire Display and built. But you can choose Series 9 Stainless Steel and it’s the same price as Ultra 2, so why not choose Ultra 2?!
Hands down you have the crispiest, cleanest, and most interesting RUclips tech videos out there. Great job, we enjoy these videos.

I have the ultra 2 at the moment but considering swapping for the series 9 stainless steel I don’t find the ultra 2 comfortable at all
I also have the intention to swap, cause the ultra is just to bulky. Are you happy now with the series 9? How is battery life?
Another banger, always fun to watch because “why not?”

How do you separate Apple Watch usage from the iPhone ? I’m always using my phone, finding myself using the watch only to see time

It’s ultra 1 still worth buying in August 2024 ?
VERY professional video - thanks
the ultra feels a bit lacking for it's use case. I think it needs a couple more generations to get really really good.
i have the ultra but im hating the thick bezels big time :/
