Looking to pick up one of these Ltd mullet builds, any thoughts on fox MY24 x2 and 36 performance elite vs MY23 super deluxe ultimate and lyrik ultimate charger 3?
@@ts-rf7er I avoid fox suspension these days. I got the LTD version of this bike specifically because of the Rockshox suspension. I wasn’t partial towards it being a mullet, but I’ve ended up loving it!
@@ts-rf7er it was a good shock for sure. I would even switch back if I was riding a lot of flow trails or jump trails. I’m just riding so much chunky tech these days.
Did you ever considered the cascade link to gain more progression or the coil shock have the hbo and it’s enough for the “linear” rear end of the evo? I’ve the elite alloy with float x and wondering about coil or cc link with float x first (seeking for more grip and capability to plow through rock garden, conscious that this bike is not an enduro rig obviously)
I've come to learn that I actually don't prefer a progressive feel in my shock set up. At least not in the air shocks with progressive leverage ratio bikes... I have really enjoyed the massively increased grip and suppleness in a linear rear end. For most of my time on the Vivid Coil I've had the HBO in the middle, but for the last 4-5 rides I've had it wide open. I am still sending pretty big drops and and I've still never felt a bottom out. I have noticed even more grip though. I think I'm going to play with quicker rebound next and see if that can help increase grip...
@ I understand what you say, and it’s make sense. The thing that make me wonder is that basically all the cc link owners claim a big improvement on the rear end of the evo, with more grip, more stable feeling on rough terrain and more compliant on rocky rough terrain, but…. This seems the classic benefit from a linear kinematic (or like coil shock) and cc clink give a progressive kinematic, so this make me confusion.. Btw nice bike and nice video 👍👍
@ yeah all I’ve heard is it increases progression… which I have never really wanted. I do think it could be interesting with a coil though. Prob way too much progression with an air shock though. For me.
@@mattdesmondwashereI’m 5’7 I’ve ridden s3 since 2018, I recently got the 2024 Stumpy Evo Expert 29/27.5, I was thinking of getting a s2 until I was able to ride an s2 nope I’ll stay with the s3. I love my stumpy.
@Belico8269 What didn’t you like about the S2? Too cramped? I have short legs and want the shortest seat tube possible for clearance for jumping et al.

@N8SecondRide haha yup how was the super deluxe rear shock? I would not go coil for sure

According to the interwebs, your frame should have exploded the instant you installed the coil shock.
@@YanDoroshenko there are a few coils that are not approved for the stumpy evo. The Vivid coil is approved. The Fox one I believe was not approved.
How tall are you?
@@mattdesmondwashere 5’10” on the good days
@@N8SecondRide Thanks. Am shorter than you and going to try out an S2.

@ yes, it felt too cramped for me, check if you have specialized dealer around you, I was able to ride s2/s3 around the parking lot.
