- There’s a special big wave slab spot 25 minutes from my Sydney home and when all the stars align Deadman’s can seriously put on a grand show.
It only breaks good (meaning over 10 feet) every two or three years.
This swell event was big and anticipated as ever.
Deadmans lived up to all expectations. Enjoy
PS There is a mistake on a date that comes up which we are trying take out at 2.41.
PS Make sure you watch what happens at 7.50 in..OMG!
PS 2 PS Don't forget to leave us a comment if you like what you sea.
On the Drone was Sky Monkey 5

And not a jet ski in sight....Hats off my men.
Used to surf the Bower after school with my mate Bill Farnsworth in the late 60's before leg ropes were invented. Anyway the first time we saw Deadmans surfed was very large SE swell when the Hawaiians competing at Bells happened to passing through Sydney and paddled to Winki and kept paddling south. It was a treat to behold and a level Bill and I had never imagined seeing Reno Abillera and his intrepid crew surfing where we thought was impossible.
The clips drop fast and furious after the day. A few days later Tim has put together something special and it's "Hold my beer" time. Great variety of angles and as usual an edit that shows your vast experience...ah yeah I liked it.
Agree seen this footage at least 3 times before , Tim has different angles.. a story line, better music and editing, makes the footage seem completely new
I am always so impressed with you Australian waterman and women. Toughest people I've ever seen. And yall seem fun af.
WOW! The footage, the music, the surfers, the carnage! Definitely one of THE best surfing videos I’ve ever seen. Well done! Cheers from Florida 🍺
I Love this place! I surfed so much in the 80’s and 90’s. Hope one day to surf it again before I die 🤪 67 now surfing since 1971 and still going riding a Mitchell Rae Outer Island 7’8” Quad Coral Reefer. Truly perfect for Deady’s!!!
I hear ya, 1970 for me.
Good to see nothing has really changed at Manly.
Great vid and hats off to those who paddled out! Insane! Wave ridden by Joshua Ku at 12:22 absolutely epic!
So good to see this wave getting recognition from this channel. This really is a world class ledge and five mins from the Corso!
These ledge surfers are a gnarly breed. Effn nuts 👍
Don't tell the whole world!
I loved this! Especially the drone footage 👌
Thanks bud! Was stoked to hear from Tim and that he wanted to use my drone footage. I am on instagram if you ever want to see more 'skymonkey5'. 🐒💨
Thanks for capturing the skill of these chargers, Tim. Definitely the best images from the day. As a mother of one of the crazies, I can only watch once I know they are safely back on land (particularly seeing how savage those wipeouts were)!
Just insane! Hats off to the drone operator for getting so close. Awesome filming
Those waves are so gnarly, the gnarly couldn't even be gnarlier than this.
Incredible. Holding your position & not greeting the wave is something only experienced surfers master. Once you make the drop, you’ve got to be patient enough to get under 2nd gnarly ledge. Once you get under that, the white water behind you accumulates rapidly so it becomes a race against the wave. At this point you’ve barely enough time to make a bottom hand turn. Then the wave barrels intensely over you… incredible.
Great different angles of these muncher waves… love the Osprey with his fish casually flapping by! 😮😮😮
Gnarly wipeouts 🤯 Can't imagine what those hold downs feel like, I'm already out of breath in the comfort and safety of my living room. 🤣
Stella job by all involved. Production, cameras, surfers!!!!! Amazing. Kudos.
Now that’s a hearty crew of surfers. Mind blown 🤯
Totally brilliant!!! The interviews, the angles of filming and the music! loved it, thank you and God bless you
That was awesome to watch Tim.
Thanks.
They don't call it dead man's for nothing eh.
Epic sesh! Also great soundtrack - thanks for putting good music into surf films. (it's more rare than it should be)
I love all things Surfing and filming and you've stepped it up! The energy surrounding the spot and the culture is core.
Love your art Tim. Always great music. It amazes me how a semi close out that not along was only ridden by those paddling over from winkipop on a crowded day has turned into a surf break that people travel for.
Amazing footage and really well put together Tim. These guys are nuts! I was up on the cliff taking photos and thanks to this video, I can now tag a few of them, thanks for putting their names up
Great footage - awesome waves - you can actually see the light flashing in the edge of these - amazing surfers too; so much carnage ! AND so many who made it - thanks Tim and co- great stuff
Tremendous video with greatfootage! Found myself leaning into the waves & gulping a breath going over the falls!
Watch out for those freak waves & thanks for the great job!
lovin it no shit like jet skies, life wests. Just natural paddling one with nature . Greetings from the south of germany.
Joshua Ku pulling into that closeout section is GNARLY! ! Epic filming.
A swell for the ages
Always love your content
Spectacular footage, ballsy surfing, loved the interviews. Great to put a face to the chargers, they deserve recognition. Bravo 👏
Insane wave. Hardcore surfing 💥☠️🌊🏄✨
Amazing video, I was holding my breath with every wipeout. At the end I got stressed. Thank you sharing.
Brilliant edit Tim. Love the story in the story about the GP. So good it was found so that the footage could be included.
So sick. Love all the different angles. That drone footage is insane
Thanks bud. I'm on instagram with my drone footage 👍skymonkey5
@@skymonkey5 followed 👌
Josh ku’s wave would have to go down as one of the biggest slab waves ever ridden off syd!
12'+!!!
many of the biggest waves ridden this day would be in that category yeah ?!
F💥kn Epic 👌🏼🤙🏼
That looks like an incredibly difficult wave to surf! Great music! Well done Mates! Good on Ya Lads!
12:20 Joshua Ku, gotta be one of the rides of the day 💪🏽
Great soundtrack. Perfectly ominous...
There’s a fine line between surfing & surviving. Well done chaps.
I wouldn't DREAM of surfing that wave when I was that kid with the long hair's age. I wouldn't dream of it now, unless it was in my nightmares.
shaking the tree good vibes all round top shelf love ya work!!!
Last time I went out at Deadmans on a big day I got washed up on the rocks and barely survived and it was half the size of these ones. The guys really showed how it should be done. Thanks Guys and Tim for another awesome show
David, Is the choppy, rough quality of the the wave characteristic of this spot, or was the choppiness only this day? Does it get more glassy?
@@mr.h3134 Actually it can get glassy. This was a massive storm tho and this generally works on a SE so usually a bit messy. But chop is not the issue, its the surface contortions of the wave. I honestly have not been able to push over the lip into all but one and I pulled off straight away as I approached the buckle.. Kudos to those guys dropping into this swell. Crazy! I'll never be able to haha
@@jamesreynolds6195 Ok, so the “buckle” occurs regardless of it being a choppy or a glassy day.
@@mr.h3134 Yeah, its the ledge bottom, nothing to do with wind
Hey Tim some great waves their, certainly got a bit of a Mully look to it!
Great finally this wave getting some credit and proper footage. It's been pumping like this for years and years. Well done.
Respect to all the riders.
perfect music. AMAZING footage! OOOing and AHHHing the whole way! wow
the risk / reward for this wave just seems fucking crazy but damn there were some utterly insane drops and slabs here. respect to everyone out there holy shit. maniacs. amazing footage! and the interviews are pure aussie
Awesomeness for the editing and especially for those surfers grinding it out👍
Amazing work. Heavy wave/setup. That trip over the falls at 4:30 hurts every fiber of my soul and being. Not usually a fan of that type of music, but that shit was banging. Great job, subscribed!
Crazy surf- sick beats…!!
Boogs were dialed in.
great visions and surfing, well done
It's a long way, and a long time, away from "Top of Taps", Tim! Thanks for reminding us in Semaphore why we followed the coast to the ocean when we were the same age as these kids. It's a long way from the V.H. town hall to youtube too, mate. Cheers and all the best from Bossdingo.
No words. The best.
alot of solid backhand action🤙
That is incredible surfing and photography. Thank you
Amazing music and footage
That was almost a killer interview... Great footage, Cheers.
You are the best! Thanks!

Jesus! I had to take a nap after seeing this!!!
Your videos are brilliant, art.
The last clip is my favorite. What a shot!
Always the mad vision from you mate. Awesome footage of an awesome day of charging. Young to old
So many incredibly well ridden waves that are by no means perfect or easy. These giant shallow, thick and heavy as fuck waves are insane. Props to everyone who went out!!!
Another great short !
Apparently anyone called max charges
Epic surf and footage! Thanks to everyone who videoed and surfed it. All time
Great video Dan! [whatever excuse youneed; we all saw the wave coming~]
Deadman & you definitely delivered the delights!
15ft plus for sure - i always look at face heights as if you fell of a ladder from the tallest part of the breaking wave to the bottom and measured the distance.....
so sick, love the interviews!
Dudes your videos are Legendary!!! Mad Video captures Drones and edits! Congrats!!! Loved every second!!! Props for the Surfers!
" Lighting up and doing a scene" yes maaate
🌊🏄 Solid Surf Actions 🏄🌊

'Onya Tim . Another Quality Fillum.....Pumping them out to the masses mate , Kudos to you .. Cheers.
Amazing edit and love the music! Absolute carnage! Where can I find the songs used?
The Aussies just pushing it to the entire next level.
How good is that someone called their kid Axel Rose. Th
Great piece of cinema.
Wildly beautiful.
Excellent.
Lotta sun on a grey day showing
Joshua ku's wave... if I never surfed again I'd be happy with that
In sane....!! M gracias amigo..
aus has the craziest waves, and they just sit out there like any other line up
Excellent presentation!!!
Awesome !! Thanks just awesome!!
Leave it to the Aussies & Tassies. Miles & miles of pristine, beautiful surf breaks. Fantastic, world class waves, then Tim Bonython was born. On a continent where almost everything is trying to kill you, this crew seeks out deadly waves & calls it 'fun."
"Hey mate ! I found a new spot. 40-50 foot faces in 40 degree water. 3 - 4 lips on a single wave face. Breaks on dry rock. In a Great White Shark breeding zone. You hafta parachute in with your board, there is no boat/jetski access ! " "Sounds perfect, hold this GoPro in your mouth & whatever you do, DON'T LOSE IT !!"
Hats off & respect to all the chargers: men, women, & that bizarre bikini bottom dude. Fck me, bad enough he gave himself a wedgie, but the dude has tan--lines. He laid out in that on purpose ?? Surfing will never be the same........
Some of those drops look sickening!
Epic - what a day. Sick.
Sick stuff out there
Glad ya found yer GoPro
Amazing video ! Love it ! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Your Spot is Amazing 🤙🤙🤙
