A small how to video on operating a Eaton super 10 transmission with no clutch in my dump truck! P.S. Got a little ahead of myself going into 7th lol Damn distractions.
You just saved me. This is my first night on the job. I just got my license. I've only driven a regular 10 speed. I drove this truck with a super 10 60 miles and it was not shifting correctly. Thank you Jesus for this video
This gives me motivation. Tomorrow, i have an interview, and i've only driven a 10 speed since I got my cdl (1 yr and 7 mo). So God willing with the video I just watched right now and your experience of what i just read. Hopefully, I'll be able to pass it so I can get the job.
I am currently at diesel tech school and am getting my CDL to supplement my degree, and this is how they are teaching me to drive a super 10 at the school. Your video is helpful for me to understand the step by step process. Thanks.
You drive a super 10 the exact same way I do. I drove one years ago, and am going into another one starting next week. Once you get used to a super 10, it's one of the easiest manual truck transmissions you can drive. Nice video!
I drive it the same way. That's how I was taught back in 97 and never had an issue. I don't understand why people have a hard time. Lol. It's just like driving a 13 speed or 18 speed once you're in your higher gears when splitting.
My 10 speed broke down today, watched this video twice, jumped into a super 10, drove like I knew what I was doing. Loved this video, and you helped me alot, thank yo for that....actually don't even want my 10 speed back 🤘🤘🤘Thanks guy
Glad to help, the super 10 is by far my favorite to operate and down shifting is a breeze, give it time and you will fall in love with it. The first month I ran it I hated it to but now 5 years later wish all my trucks had it!
dirtfan54 I’m a little confuse on how to downshift once I drop a gear do I rev the rpms n step on it again??? Thanks I’m just trying to learn from your video
Looks nicer to drive than a standard 10 speed Road Ranger, easier to flip that switch every other time than to throw the lever for each gear. A lot like driving a straight truck with a five speed box and two speed rearend.
You make it look easy. I'm gonna drive a super 10!10 wheel dump druck tomorrow. Hope it's that easy for me. Thanks for the video. It's the best video I've found on how to shift this trans.
The last one I drove one of them was 20 year ago.Honestly I didn’t even think they made them anymore hadn’t heard or seen anything about that setup.Cool to see again thanks🙌🏾
Your video was really helpful . I drove straight 10 for 10 years now just couple days ago bought a super 10. And watching your video helped me a lot to know how to shift . Thank you
I have ran 9 speed for many years. I am just now getting into trucking school to get my class A. this is definitely different than what I'm used to, but thank you for the video it has helped me out a lot.
Aw man you made it look like a piece of cake. I was a little nervous abt driving one at first but now I'm ready thank you so much dirtfan this video is gonna help lots of truckers/new truckers
I've been driving different transmission patterns for awhile now. This Super 10 baffled me. Thank you for your video! I'm about to give it go tomorrow!
Good job! You obviously know where all the sweet spots are on the box... didn't see or hear one lurch or grind. Drove a super 10 for many years but learned on my late Dad's 359 Pete with a 6 + 4...
Interesting transmission, I kinda like my plain 10 speed seams like it would be less likely to miss shift on a hill, but I'm sure in time get used to it
Everyone who is confused by this obviously does not know how reds blues and whites shift. It is simply a five speed with five splits. A red is a four speed with four splits. A blue is a five speed with five splits. A white is a four speed with eight splits. I have never driven a super ten, but the concept is simple. It is a straight ten without a range change. Removing the five/six six/five shift from a straight ten makes this a box I wish I had the chance to drive.
I drove one of these once as a loner truck for a delivery and that thing confused the hell out of me. The loaner was an old Freightliner FLD daycab in it with an eaton fuller super 10 in it. Many many moons ago.
Not gonna lie man this video helped me out more than you'll ever know I been driving a regular ole ten speed for a while still new to trucking jumped in this damned ole super ten and made me feel like a shit driver now i got it down thanks to ur help
Thank you so much for the video...have driven nothing but a straight 10 for yrs.....I got to play around with on the other day....I have to say its not to bad....but it does take getting in a driving ....
thank you for the video I'm picking up a truck next week and it has a super 10 in it, I've never driven a super 10 and probably will check out your video a few more times.
Thank you thank you man for the video, we have normal 10 speeds which I can drive by have to drive one that's a super 10 and was having little trouble shifting, this helps me out so much. Thank you again
This is basically like a high and low split between each gear except your shifting 2 gears in one shift using the splitter. Always wonder how a super 10 was operated this was really helpful.
hey this is a great video in uk we have a transmission just like this only it has 12gears. its called eaton twin splitter. i have a video up of me going up and down throgh the range and also using a technique known as , bunny hoping.
We have these in some of the older trucks at work... the guys who love them love them and the guys who hate them wont drive them. Ours are in international flat floor cabovers. Im the only one who doesnt shift with the jake. They scare the shit out of me sometimes just because its so easy to drop into neutral hitting the gas too soon or too late when ahifting
I learned with a normal 10 speed and mastered it rather quickly but I hopped in a Super 10 today and it threw me for a loop. Wasnt quite used to that pattern and concept
I dunno if I'd rather thumb split, or have to select and shove to the left and down. Hmmm got me thinking. Ideally I'd take a 13 or 18 anyday of the week. But it ain't my truck.
Gears are just split differently than a normal 10 speed. To me this actually seems easier than a normal 10 speed. If you can float gears you can use a side splitter like this just fine.
Seems easy enough, but when you have a trainer that's so picky and grabs the shifter when a mistake is made it isn't so easy. Now make a video like that and bro you'd have saved my life. Btw every new to the cdl world
It is pretty easy once you understand the concept of it, I think people just dont like change and so when you give them something different they tend to hate it but once you actually run for more then a day or two you will never wanna go back. With full loads down shifting it really shines.
I just don't like automatic trucks if you ask me(it's just less fun and less control in my opinion)... But manual gear boxes aren't that hard to maneuver. It's only a matter of knowing how it works!
If it was a gas truck it would have been called a 5 by 2 5-speed on the main transmission and the second I believe was like a brownie box It worked beautifully
Until you start up a steep incline then it gets a little moody. On mine, i sometimes have to take it out of gear and put it back in (same position) gear.
You just saved me. This is my first night on the job. I just got my license. I've only driven a regular 10 speed. I drove this truck with a super 10 60 miles and it was not shifting correctly.

I'm a newbie who got the licence only 4 years ago and never driven a super 10 before. This help me A TON! THANK YOU SIR!
I am currently at diesel tech school and am getting my CDL to supplement my degree, and this is how they are teaching me to drive a super 10 at the school. Your video is helpful for me to understand the step by step process. Thanks.
I've been driving super 10's for 20 yrs. I shift exactly like this and never had any trouble.
Same concept with the 13 and 18 speeds. You're shifting correctly. 👍
You’re an overachiever
whats the correct rpm no one talks about it
You drive a super 10 the exact same way I do. I drove one years ago, and am going into another one starting next week. Once you get used to a super 10, it's one of the easiest manual truck transmissions you can drive. Nice video!
The most freaking helpful video on RUclips to date !!!!!!!!!!!! For this subject !!!! Best video so far !!!!!
I drive it the same way. That's how I was taught back in 97 and never had an issue. I don't understand why people have a hard time. Lol. It's just like driving a 13 speed or 18 speed once you're in your higher gears when splitting.

i was that way with the 13 speed. hated it at first. i still love grabbing gears getting on the hwy.
what? your the first trucker I've heard that said that
David Smith , Never heard someone say they hate a 13? EVER
dirtfan54 I’m a little confuse on how to downshift once I drop a gear do I rev the rpms n step on it again??? Thanks I’m just trying to learn from your video
@@camaro_kyle6851 i hate 13 lol
Looks nicer to drive than a standard 10 speed Road Ranger, easier to flip that switch every other time than to throw the lever for each gear. A lot like driving a straight truck with a five speed box and two speed rearend.
Thanks bro! Starting a new job driving a super 10, I'm good to go thanks to this vid
You make it look easy. I'm gonna drive a super 10!10 wheel dump druck tomorrow. Hope it's that easy for me. Thanks for the video. It's the best video I've found on how to shift this trans.

Best explanation in a small amount of time
By far, my favorite transmission. I learned on a super 10, and you are right. Downshifting is a breeze.
Nice setup; I've always loved the Cummings Diesel engine. Having a Cummings mated to a super 10 must be a dream.
There is no G in Cummins...
I never understood why people hate these so bad. I've only drove one that had this but I kinda liked it
I've been driving different transmission patterns for awhile now.
Brings back memories of my driving days, I always loved my super 10 trucks!
A very thorough, concise tutorial! Thank you. Well done.
Awesome.!! I will start to drive a super 10 next week and this video is very helpful
Thank you

Just got a loaner truck with the super 10. Thank you, as I was totally lost
Thank you. I was like I can only drive a 10 and 13 speed but now I can drive a super10. Appreciate it driver.
I was hoping you would go over the rev match a little more
I drove one of these once as a loner truck for a delivery and that thing confused the hell out of me. The loaner was an old Freightliner FLD daycab in it with an eaton fuller super 10 in it. Many many moons ago.

I drove a 96 pete for awhile and this is how I was shown, always worked for me, great video
I loved my old Pete with a super 10. I drove that truck like it was a sports car.
Thank you sir. Never drove a super 10 but this will help quite a bit since I may end up with one
Thank you so much for the video...have driven nothing but a straight 10 for yrs.....I got to play around with on the other day....I have to say its not to bad....but it does take getting in a driving ....
Thank you. watching your video and learned in 30 min.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, Much appreciated.
Great video thanks a lot I’m looking for a job on this and didn’t have a clue what was a super 10 thanks for sharing your knowledge great job!👍🏽
thank you for the video I'm picking up a truck next week and it has a super 10 in it, I've never driven a super 10 and probably will check out your video a few more times.
thanks brother. Interviewing at a place that all their Pete's are super 10's never even heard of it till then.
Thank you thank you man for the video, we have normal 10 speeds which I can drive by have to drive one that's a super 10 and was having little trouble shifting, this helps me out so much. Thank you again
Made it super easy to understand especially when down shifting thanks man Big Help.
Just bought a Pete las week and this video helped soooooo much...thank you👌🏼
This is basically like a high and low split between each gear except your shifting 2 gears in one shift using the splitter. Always wonder how a super 10 was operated this was really helpful.
I will be driving a Peterbilt rollback wrecker with a Cat and a super 10 here soon, can't wait!
This was more than helpful, Gracias Carnal!
Excellent video man that's exactly how I drive mine. Super tens are fast and fun 2 drive
God bless you bro
This was simple and easy to understand, Thank you sir.
Beautiful gearbox in my opinion.
I hate the super 10 dad use to make me drive our 359 Pete during harvest with it . now we have 379 with an 18speed I love that thing.
I enjoyed driving them 💖
Basically a 5 speed with a splitter. Like the 5 ton vans with a 5 speed trans and 2 speed rear end. My favorite is the 18.
This video is very helpful bro. I'm going to start driving a super next week and this video gonna help me a lot.
Starting new driving gig this week, this helped
I learned how to drive stick-shift with an Eaton-Fuller 10-speed.
I’m looking to buy a K100 with a Super 10. I really like what I’m seeing here.
Very easy after listening to you ‼️
Thanks buddy very detailed video!!!!
Wish more trucks had super 10
Nice to find your video l just got a 2001 peterbilt and has this supper 10 speed transmission
You’re video help operating this truck lol 👍

Thanks for this video, I need to know this for a Job interview I am going to. Again, Thanks
GOD BLESS YOU DIRTFAN I LIKE THAT JOB@!!!!
you must be the only guy i know to drive a gas semi truck. he said get on and off the gas hahaha. thanks for the vid though....
Thank you so much of sharing God bless you 🙏
Great video
Good video ,best explication impossible
Awesome,thanks driver.

Wasnt quite used to that pattern and concept
I figured it out in less than 10 min on my first job straight out of driving school that only had 9 gear Tran
Can you show more videos of down shifting and showing the rpm and speed hands
awesome video i love truck driving
Drive on driver that’s how I was taught on a Volvo white lightning super ten is bad ass and fast too
Nice. Just like a split axle.
I dunno if I'd rather thumb split, or have to select and shove to the left and down. Hmmm got me thinking.
Ideally I'd take a 13 or 18 anyday of the week. But it ain't my truck.

Thanks for the class, it was helpful.
Same way I drive this trans. If it gets stuck in gear while upshifting, I just blip the throttle and it takes it out of gear.
I drive an 18 speed speed same way and splitting them. Just use the pedle and no taking outta gear
Thanks for posting
Some say it's some pain in the ass to operate... But after looking at your video, it look easier to drive than any other eaton transmissions
It is pretty easy once you understand the concept of it, I think people just dont like change and so when you give them something different they tend to hate it but once you actually run for more then a day or two you will never wanna go back. With full loads down shifting it really shines.

+Vincent Villeneuve automatic transmission are for "wanna be" truckers, real truckers don't drive those.
If it was a gas truck it would have been called a 5 by 2 5-speed on the main transmission and the second I believe was like a brownie box
It worked beautifully
great vidoe
Probably never had an issue with you clutch either! ❤
I’ve never driven a super 10 but looks just as easy as a 13 and bigger
Thank you for the video
Thanks driver.
I drove a regular 10 speed in CDL school, a super 10 looks like it would actually be easier
Great video thanks
I got my truck today and I am having a hell of a time
Very useful thank you
Man great vid
HEY----looks right to me! Cool.
Haven’t driven one of those in years
Yeah I see more 8 and 13s. I bet the super 10 is pretty rare. Haven't seen one since the early two thousands
Until you start up a steep incline then it gets a little moody. On mine, i sometimes have to take it out of gear and put it back in (same position) gear.
Leslie Taylor then you have another issue sir. Definitely should get it looked at because that is not normal.
Very Helpful man!!
Very helpful
