I believe most of the feel and plot of Hotline Miami came from this video alone. Thanks Craig Hand for basically creating part of inspiration for the game
Riding on Lakeshore drive one foggy summer night in Chicago blazed out of my mind and all I see are the rectangular lights of windows on skyscrapers and wavelengths behind them while listening to this song. Definitely the peak of my trip. It's a night I'll never forget.
I know i know, but it is hard not to notice how awesome this music fitted the start screen of that game, as long as the whole mise-en-scene. Perfect match.
I remember going out partying with a friend, and getting pretty drunk, so I spent the night at his place. He had these Muslim neighbours in the apartment above him who blasted their call to prayer at 8am or something like that, which was actually kind of a pleasant sound to wake up to. I lay on the couch, just listening to it. This song reminds me of that.
What none of you realize is that this is psychedelic in nature. The long drawn out beats, the disemobodied callings, the waves, the very "chill" that forms the backbone of this song. But ignore me, I have no fucking idea what im saying, just another wandering stoner. hahahahaha
Here are the lyrics if you are intrested. Also I am high on dr**s and have been singing along, hit me with that bomb. great article about sun araw main man cameron stallones in mountain fold music journal - third issue of free melbourne street press. another great musician on not not fun label. Pocahaunted and magic lantern also really good things happening now which stallones is involved in.
You know what, I just discovered by accident that if you play this with David Byrne and Brian Eno's Qu'ran, they are strangely complimentary...that's cool
Woah....For one second there I felt like I was part of the entire human race, everyone that had ever lived and everyone that will live. Just for a moment though, it felt good.
This song feels like a fever dream.

Seems like it, this song encompasses what playing hotline Miami feels like perfectly
That's why it's perfect. It's calm, yet distorted. Shows the tranquil city of Miami, combined with psychopathic insanity of the player.
I resonate with your comment so much!
The normal pictures of life together with this weird music make me feel uneasy.
well this is just one big ass shroom trip
;)
after hearing this song many times it makes me feel like everything is going to be alright
How's life been treatin you in the last 13 years? Hope you're doin alright

Sun Araw is a master
It feels unsettling yet calm at the same time... as if the world is crumbling right in front of me...
Damn, son. I really wish I could experience that awesome moment...
I've read this story every time I've listened to this song and it's comforted me imagining the scenario, for whatever it's worth.
This song dose strange things to my thought process. I honestly cant decide how it makes me feel.

this song never gets old to me. *swoon*. so amazingly ethereal and just surfy-rad.
Slip'n in and out of a hazy fever dream in the dying sun light of the Miami coast. So much mellow...So much...groovy~
you feel like you've done something wrong, but the fever whisks away your troubles
Simply beautiful.

It almost sounds like Vaporwave, but the difference is that this song is actually non-ironically awesome.

Indeed it's a crime-infested slum. But there's still the sun and novelty of the city.

I listen to loads of new music, too much probably. But Sun Araw is one of the few bands that I reach for when I'm fatigued by all the rest.
