This is my conversation with Ellen Williams. It took place on 2/24/23 from her home in the UK.
Welsh classical singer Ellen Williams is quickly becoming one of the UK's most successful classical artists with No1 releases in the Classical Charts, thousands of loyal fans listening to her music daily, and over 8 million video views.
Praised for her “poise and promise, her voice agile with silvery charm” THE GUARDIAN, and described as singing “with heart-piercing sweetness” in THE TIMES, Ellen has performed in many of the UK’s prestigious concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Royal Concert Hall Glasgow, Bridgewater Hall, the Wales Millennium Centre, for King Charles III in Buckingham Palace, and as the anthem soloist in the Principality Stadium.
Ellen’s music is listened to across 6 continents and her voice is featured on award-winning international soundtracks. Ellen is delighted to have released her rendition of World In Union with Warner ADA, and looks forward to sharing more anthemic favourites as part of an exciting album of rousing sporting anthems and inspirational hymns, set for release in 2023!
In concert Ellen has appeared many times with the orchestra of Welsh National Opera and the BBC National Orchestra Of Wales, and as the soprano soloist in numerous sacred works including the Fauré Requiem and Handel's Messiah in St David's Hall, Haydn’s Creation in the Brangwyn Hall, and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana in Gloucester Cathedral. Ellen was honoured to be asked to sing at the wedding of Sir Bryn Terfel, and performance highlights include performing Vera Lynn songs in the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance concert, appearing as a soloist in the Welsh premiere of The Bards of Wales conducted by Sir Karl Jenkins, and leading the National Anthem for the first ever British Grand-Prix in the World Supercross Championship in the Principality Stadium!
Since releasing her No1 debut single Dancing With The Angels, a new arrangement and lyric written by Ellen to the traditional Welsh lullaby Suo Gân, Ellen has worked with Multi-Grammy nominated producer Chris Craker to release a collection of new arrangements of film-score greats all given a classical flare titled Cinema. It's been a hugely popular disc and includes songs from James Bond, Gladiator and The Lord Of The Rings. The songs have been played many times on BBC Radio and coinciding with its release Ellen was a featured artist on Scala Radio.
