    Right now, I'm a high school freshman. My GPA is 4.0 unweighted, 4.15 weighted. This video was very informative, and I really hope that I can be part of CMU in 3 years!
    Thanks!

      I find it crazy that people can get a 4.0 unweighted. Very impressive! My junior year of high school I had nearly all A’s, just one C-. That C- was chemistry, I didn’t give up and didn’t just ignore studying, it just did not click for me. I have tried very hard yet still got a C-, even with studying and asking for help. My GPA was around 3.7 in 11th grade unweighted. I heard of people getting a 3.9 with all A’s, I still find it crazy that people can get all high nineties in every single class. Good luck to you and the rest of high school!

      @@chasehoke4768 Some schools have it much easiers than others, and colleges can't tell which kids went to easy schools and which went to hard schools, so it just puts people who go to competitive high schools at a disadvantage

    Hi, Kristy! I'm going into my high-school sophomore year, and CMU has been my dream college since maybe 6th or 7th grade.
    I heard that CMU has a super good art program and community, which is exactly what I'm looking for in colleges. (I do have college alternatives in mind, just in case CMU doesn't accept me.)
    Anyway, thanks for making this video. I'll definitely keep this video in mind when the time comes for me to start applying! ✨

    hi! i'm a rising junior and one of my dream schools for acting/musical theatre is cmu. would you recommend taking the SAT, ACT, or both?

    • @kristywang
      @kristywang  4 года назад +5

      hi! i recommend taking a practice test for the ACT and SAT, and seeing which one you like better! after that, commit & practice!!

  • @FeliciaBerrier
    @FeliciaBerrier 4 года назад +6

    hey! i am unsure if you will see this but i am considering CMU for a BS in music & technology and a certification in music education. it seems like CMU accepts students with high test scores, but a GPA of 3.6. i am kind of the opposite - my SAT is around 1200 but I have a 3.99 GPA. do you think it's worth it for me to apply? i also have a lot of extra curricular activities for a long time and i was going to take the SAT again but it got cancelled due to this pandemic so i can only take it once, also i haven't earned any awards. thank you so so much in advance - your video was super super helpful!

    • @kristywang
      @kristywang  4 года назад +1

      hi! thanks for reaching out! i think you should definitely apply because gpa/testing is not everything and isn't the only thing the admissions team will review. your application is going to consist of essays and ECs that are going to show your characteristics, passions, etc. which may or may not be taken even more into consideration than testing. so if you want to go to cmu, you should apply!

    Hi! How much did you write for the writing supplements? You referred to them as essays so I wasn’t sure if i should be doing them in essay format or not. Also, congratulations!

      Hi! There's actually a word limit for each supplement essay! For me, that was 300 words, but it may change year to year. Thank you!

    This is a top university so congrats! And by tops I mean it accepted the most foreign monies of any other in the US without disclosing that info as required. According to the new report..$1.6 billion actually.. Im sure it wont have any bearing on how things are taught though of course the country list is quite interesting as how they treat their own students with opposing views isnt so kind.
