    This house is most beautiful from the inside looking out, each window a work of art. How wonderful for the inhabitants, a true home.

    One small suggestion for Home Magazine: A few seconds-lasting shots with plans wouldn't damage this film. A part of that 9/10 Thanks

    You've touched my heart with that phrase

    A quintessential NZ aesthetic that manages to be simultaneously bold and quiet

    Perfect example of how to build with your surroundings in mind. It fits perfectly into the landscape, almost as if it was a natural part of it. Wonderful! And those views, wow, breathtaking to say the least.

    Love that home- and it’s environs. Driving through Otago some 8 years ago, I thought of how it reminded me so much of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia... the redness of the rocks, the small pines and the craggy flora.

    The living/dining glazed areas look like walls of works of art.

    Excellent project excellent presentation. As an architect I think she nailed all the main criteria that makes a good project.

    Is this architecture? The scenic view was already standing before the building. The building does not add to it.

    A true work of art indeed. Like how there is also the river nearby. But i'd sure like to have some neighbours to talk to and for the kids to play/imteract with

    So good to see a brutalist style structure, harsh and angular like the landscape, well done in choosing this as house of the year.
    "we should be designing and building to endure"
    Exactly

      Right, but we should also start using more sustainable materials, much unlike concrete.

  • @Mr.Monta77
    @Mr.Monta77 2 года назад +3

    Concrete is a major cause of harmful emission and not an environmentally friendly material. I would never build a house in concrete.

    • @dosadoodle
      @dosadoodle 2 года назад +3

      @K Olsen Thats a myth that homes would last much longer in concrete. Look in Europe for many counter-examples. And there are many passive homes that don't require such gaping amounts of concrete.
      This home is beautiful, but it did consume a lot of excess resources to achieve that beauty. Let's not dance around that or pretend there wasn't another way.

      Look at the Flak Tower's in Germany and the U-Boat Bunkers in France that are made of concrete and are indestructible and will out last the Pyramids. Concrete is the way to go and is fireproof compared to wooden built buildings.

    いいけど周りの石の間に植物を植えたくなります。笑 野草と、、やっぱもう少しは木が欲しいかな、夏は暑そうだから。
    玄関口へ行く通り道に石垣のようになってたでしょう?あそこへ這わせるNZの花があるからピッタリ♡
    オーストラリア産かもしれないけどピッタリなのありますよ。
    あとね、大きくなる木で名前忘れたけど葉が繊細で触ると柑橘系?レモンかな?みたいな匂いがする木があるの。
    それ日差しが強くなる時期に日影になるように家の近くに植えたいな。
    って怒られちゃうかな?笑 まあ想像だから許してください。
