It's the same 5.1 mix, the Atmos mix is new for systems with Dolby Atmos. If you have an Atmos system then this Blu-ray is worth it, otherwise you may as well stick to your SACD.

I've been convinced for years now that Gilmour played the bass on Money. It just sounds different to how Waters played it before (i.e. his acoustic demo and gigs) and after (Live at Wembley, various bootlegs from the 70s).

According to a guy I know who worked at Britannia Row {Pink Floyd's studio and live touring arm) for quite a while it is a well known "secret" that Gilmour played bass on the vast majority of the band's recordings in the 1970's. Hardly any of it is Waters. Wikipedia has even been updated for albums such as Animals and The Wall. Tracks such as Pigs (3 Different Ones) and Hey You are so glaringly obvious in their style its DG on (very skilled) bass they've had to acknowledge its him. But, yes, according to my mate Waters wrote Money but Gilmour played it. There are numerous pics on Google Images now of Gilmour playing bass in the studio during both the Obscure By Clouds and DSOTM sessions.

Well I listened to the folded down ATMOS version. I got a bit mixed up after listening to all the versions I had. To be honest, I preferred the 5.1 version.
It's true that Atmos is very niche...and I do feel quite silly for buying the box set....but the Atmos Mix is incredible. I'm not saying you should upgrade a perfectly good 5.1 system and spend ridiculous money just to hear it...but you won't be disappointed if you do. At least I wasn't.
I am surprised you never played the Atmos mix Darren it is the only new mix of the album and just cause you don't have Atmos it does not mean you cannot listen to it in 7.1 which all Atmos mixes are made from. Though I have to say that like the 2023 remaster I was far from impressed with it and still think that Alan Parson's original quad mix is the best way you can listen to this album. I can also say that I too wasted my money on the Blu Ray 😁😁😁.
Frankly (Mr shankly) Darren, i was expecting a 50th anniversary of DSOTM with something new. I mean, where are the "dark sides" and "bright sides" mixes 🤣😂 ? Waters, Gilmour, Wright and Mason are lazy.
I Think sounds best on reel to reel ....remixes are Like Putting A Monster in A Jar and There is No Dark side of the Moon ..Its all Dark and hopefully its Made of Cheese

It always sounded good from the very beginning. That's part of its universal charm. You just end up buying the newest version because its the newest version!

My daughter's inheritance is intact as I won't be buying this version of the album. Like you, ATMOS isn't living at my place.
