    I'm slowly getting thru the 1/48th HK B17F, she's a big and beautiful bird, and I'm struck what a really lovely kit it is, I mean she's a challenge but every time I go back to her I'm impressed at how well the kit behaves.

    Good on you HK it's good to see all the corrected 1/48 kits coming out after the 1/32.

    Great review of a classic aircraft, the J glass-nose has such clean and flowing lines and is an absolute beauty to see in person. In flight those engines are a cant miss what your hearing

    Nice, grand father was turret gunner/engineer in these for the Dutch Airforce in Indonesia WW2, 18Sq NEI. Iconic plane, I will probably get one of these🇦🇺🇺🇲

      I expect ASK has decals for that?

      I have DK Decals for the 1/32 Mitchell in NEI 16/18 Squadron service for my strafer - includes glass nose and strafer options. However don't know about 1/48 scale decals.@@NigelsModellingBench

    Thanks for the great review. I have always loved the Mitchell as an aircraft, and have built 2 (1/48, Monogram and AM), and have 3 (2 x 1/48 Revell and AM and 1 x 1/32 HKM) in the stash. The first was the Monogram 1/48 B25H in the late 1970s - a revelation, with the detail it had compared to kits I had built earlier as a kid. I like the HK kits, but have one issue with them - the tunnel connecting the nose compartment to the rest of the plane is missing. I guess it is hard to see, and can be built from card, but still...

    Ya, I’ve got the Accurate Miniatures kit.. Got it at a thrift store for $4.50 CAD. Lots of extras in the box. Might do this one soon. First thing I did was check fuse halves, they fit perfectly. Best deal I’ve ever got! Checking the kit, Eduard details and extra decal sheets, figure about $200 CAD!

    The seats in this kit are correct as the J had a co-pilot. With the H variant with the 75mm gun, the full size co-pilot's seat was removed and replaced with a much smaller item, as was the right hand control column and rudder pedals. This smaller seat was used by the gunner when not manning the 75mm gun.
    This looks a nice, modern kit of the Mitchell, but I can't help but feel the old Monogram offering gives just as nice a replica in 1/48th scale.

      @NigelsModellingBench  8 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you.. so I guess the seat "correction" for the 1/32 B-25J is actually incorrect then??

      @@NigelsModellingBench Sorry, Nige, I'm not familiar with the 1/32 B-25s. From your query, I'm assuming HK Models got the seating arrangement correct initially, then incorrectly corrected it?
      Oops! 😄

    Nigel, I have a restored B-25J home based just a few minutes from me. If you build this kit and need any photos, measurements, etc. let me know. I have been inside of it a few times.

    In my stash...really nice but I picked up some resin engines to add detail. Also masking is a bit tedious...but extremely necessary. The history around this specific plane configured as "Cactus Kitten" is very interesting and sad. Look up how they ended up getting the chieftains painted on the tails (with masks no less) and how that crew gave their lives up on their last mission.

      Thanks for sharing. I'll take a look. The company Art Scale Kit makes a window masking set for it.
