I seen him open up for svdden death, hands down one of my favorite sets to date. I was so exhausted after SL. Was heavy dub like 90 percent of the set too!

@@BMoore556 In that case, I can wholeheartedly recommend getting into producing music for that reason right there, if you haven't already. Been doing so myself for 14 years, and whereas I'm definitely no Space Laces, I'm still making the music that pops into my head, and it's so satisfying, whether you make it for yourself or for others.

That kick hits so insanely hard that you just can't do anything else but go nuts. I really don't like dubstep, but the VIP mix of Dominate is one of my favorite tracks. Fucking unreal.

Hard to believe No Mercy and his New World Order remix are 12 years old. Plenty of other artists were on the Shambhala 2011 mix, but this dude stood out and it paid off big time. Having your own unique sound means a lot. Listening since I was teenager and still dancing like a dummy! Keep it up Spog Logs

The best part of this whole set is that virtually no one is on their phones, they’re actually living in the moment like we all did when all things EDM were still underground back in the early 2000’s. Aside from that, Ian always destroys, no surprise there.

@@AhlexMGO I just got back from his show in Dallas at Stereo Live and my God, the guy is sitting on SO many unreleased tracks that even I as a huge Space Laces fan haven’t ever heard and I’m usually on the hunt for any new clips of anything he’s got out. Insane energy from start to finish.

This and the Dominate VIP were the ones I keep coming back for. This Melodic stuff really suits his style. He keeps this sound very his own while also being totally different from the rest of his stuff. Very nice work.
It’s hard to describe how good this set is. The depth of his understanding of how to mix and create an atmosphere. Be able to manipulate people’s emotions like he does. How the drops are spaced out, when to have double drops, how fake outs are executed. When to pullback and have moments of space. The way he used the verses and vocals to tell a story without overdoing it. The balance of grit, silence, and melody. The fact that he can make ridiculously heavy bass music but make it flow and feel so effortless. It’s mind blowing. So much of modern bass music is mindless head-banging and bad mixing. People don’t understand the intricacies and depth that need to be present in this art form. It’s so much more complex then people realize. Space laces knows exactly what he’s doing and he is VERY good at it.
the only complaint I have is that it seems like the ending is a little mellow, what do you think?
@@davidtyleryork I think it’s cool that he ends it in a positive more mellow mood. It’s almost like finishing a song with the last chord being the home chord of whatever key it’s in. Like a positive/major resolution. Kinda like they do in movies, where instead of having the the climax at the end. It brings it down a notch for a more mellow and resolved ending. In a weird way, it’s like the afterglow phase after having sex, lol.
I understand what you’re saying though. Where it would be cool to have the last one to be a really heavy hitter.
@Hogi Bunz I agree with both of you; I'd given anything to have gone to the Chicago show. For the longest I've been telling myself if I see this dude live he might as well play all the Vaultages back to back lol. He didn't disappoint in the slightest. Disco Bloodbath though in comparison to the rest if the is "chill"; I feel like it's lowkey kind of his signature track. He clearly has a love for synth chords and funky kick patterns. You can hear it throughout just about all of tracks dubstep or bass. Regardless this is one of the dopest sets of the year so far haha.

I don’t even go to a lot of shows anymore and a lot of new bass music sounds stale the older I get. But I will always go to a space laces show. He uses the DAW to its full potential and is a real producer.

Koan Sound, Autechre, Must Die, Rival Consoles, Floating Points, Max Cooper, Sleepnet along with Noisia, Halogenix, Misthanrop, Nicolas Jaar, Mr. Bill, Daedalus, Tipper, Forest Swords, Prurient, Marc of Lifeseeker, Moody Good, etc. There’s tons of amazing producers and sound designers that I think are a bit better than Ian. I mean, I’m a big fan of Ian and I even went to go see him live in 2018, or 2019. Misthanrop by far, has the cleanest mixes, and the most mind blowing production in my opinion. But I love Space Laces ofc, like I said. But there’s other incredible Musicians, Multi-instrumentalists, sound designers ( including Lustmord, Ben Frost, Tim Hecker, Matmos, etc. ( Martin and Drew Matmos. )
