I could watch USC drumline videos all day long...
Way under rated. It is so hard to get in sync like this. I loved every second of this video. AWESOME JOB GUYS!
My school just got our first ever marching band this year. Brand new, proud to be one of the founding members. I play the snare and despite not being an SC fan football wise I definitely look to these guys as a model for my drumming. They are beasts, hands down.
These aren't really the best models man, if you want good models look bluecoats they are very hard working and very clean and great players. My drumlins plans on going there individually our lead snare has been to their camps. They're really great people. Look them up.
+Laughingdawg13 There's a big difference between a college drumline and a drum corps drumline
It just does NOT get any more BADASS than this! DRUM ON! FIGHT ON!
Percussion is the most exciting section of any ensemble
. . . as Gunny Sargent R. Lee Ermey would say " Out Fucking Standing " ! ! ! . . . what a honor and tribute to the brilliance of the USC Cadence & percussion team get'n it done to this already cool Drum Line . a whole bunch of fortunate Pep's got to see this live , I was not one of them , cheers from Arizona , usa . lake havasu city
effin USC drumline is bad ass! i have to say that their drumline is one of the most legit drumlines Yet to come
The execution of this drum line is cleaner than the original version. Bravo for taking it on like this. Good stuff.
USC Drumline is so awesome to watch.....always so very talented..at games and at all the different places they perform around LA......
This must have been incredible to experience live. Awesome.
I played top bass in this (fight on!) You DO hear the cadence sequence, but they are right... they specifically asked for, "that drum part in Drumline." The sequence you are familiar with doesn't start until 5:05ish, before then is all the Drumline cadence
Hey guys,
I am a band director, a drum corps guy, a wgi indoor guy etc. But I gotta tell you guys that everytime someone from "the activity" comes on a public forum where any non DCI/WGI line is playing and just rips it makes us look and sound stupid. There is more than one "Species" of the marching activity and ALL of them are "legit". They ALL have their place. Its great that so many of you guys are BD fans etc but you need to realize there is more out there. Its like arguing which movie is better: The Lion King or "Lincoln". They are both "Movies" and are both great. WHY does one have to be better? the answer is, it doesnt! Neither one of them is better. They are alike only in that are "Movies". Same with college lines, "Show bands", WGI, DCI, etc. Stop trying to feel superior just because you are a fan of the activity. I would best most of the commenters probably have never marched corps anyway so relax! Do you guys find videos about people who like to eat Oranges and then comment how much better some apples are that you saw once?
WGI PIO medalist on quads here, was literally just about to remark on how extraordinarily clean these guys were coming up to the stage. You already know about listening responsibilities/environments and just how garbage their listening environment was. Great job by these guys. Would also like to mention USC Series is one of my favorite cadences of all time, whether it be college or DCI. It just sounds groovy as hell.
@@leaguemaskthaamumugod7552 -- Couldn't agree more with you and Tony Perez! Never marched DCI or WGI, but was in the drumline in high school and college (including Tournament of Roses Honor Band). I've been to the GC Drum-Offs and seen USC perform there, and the listening environment is exactly how you described.
Drumline was a move from 2002. I was in the USC TMB in '93 and we've been using the same cadence even before that. It's been extended somewhat over the years but what I heard on this vid has been around for a very long time. Point to the time on this video to be more specific!
The first cadence USC played was "Destruction" by Morris Brown College's Percussion. It was also featured in the final battle of the movie "Drumline" which is, I'd guess, why they included it.
Fight on Troy!!
Best in Nation
Love it
Trojan Marching Band ROCKS! Drumline is awesome....thanks for the post.
@drumersl yeah i know its not hard but its hard for me to learn it by ear. also i like how they put the bass splits in there. cause the original didnt have any bass splits. cause the other parts were played by single toms
haHA!! Man that was so fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!! One of the best videos on RUclips. And yes, way too underrated.
I've never seen something like this in years.
I love the USC band because they incorporate urban and pop songs like our HBCU'S. Now theres no way USC could beat them of course!!!
This cadence sounds very familiar.. Definitely badass!!
I love the tenor groove at the beginning of their cadence
Chills when USC came on and a smile the whole time. A few too many cooks in the kitchen, but those Rock star types aren't used to second string.
The beginning was pretty AWSOME!
This was AWESOME!!!
Tommy Lee and the Mohawk dude are like the hobo party crashers.
is this suppose to be a cleaner version the last drumline battle in "drumline"
Bravo.
Superb!!!!
USC . . . Ba Da Bam !
perfection
That was cool....
Awesome
great performance
That was a sick intro.
opening cadence is from the movie drumline, love it
killer!!
Oh Cymbal line, the most under appreciated part of the drumline
The hand one!
Fight On TMB!
My goodness that's real talent
go Patrick...
oh yeah go sponge bob...
@drumersl ive always liked USC's drumline cause they entertain the crowd and are still musicians at the same time. most drummers think you cant do both but i say you can. i wish there were more drumlines outside of HBCU'S that were like this. in fact i would like to see USC go up against a HBCU drumline.
That rutine is the same one off of drumline!!!
It really doesn't get any better than the USC drum line.
Tell that to the blue devils
Jordan May The Blue devils are a Drum Corp not a Drum Line.
I meant their drumline. It's awesome.
I agree.
I would say they have one of the best if not THE best bands in college...but I wouldn't say their drum line is the best.
i feel you man
Hella Dope!!!
this is giving me a hamboner
For the first 3min this poor man was trying to get a spider off him and no one in the crowd bothered to help SMH
The stepping in the beginning sure does resemble my frat's style of stepping and some of moves I did in shows....Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Hmmmm. Nice show. and yes....the opening cadence is definitely from the movie Drumline.
Nice
If you whistle at a performance, I will whistle at your funeral.
@TheDragonmaster18
The Morris Brown part no. It was just for that gig.
The part after 5:05 yeah, that is part of USC's cadence sequence.
The one guy with the mohawk thing who was beating the garbage cans was such a spaz lol
fuckkk the look fucken sick
usc drumline is so freeking amazing i would love to see them go up against scsu
everyone's an expert on line.....
super drumsline
The tenor closest to the middle is my drumline instructor now at highschool
@mrfinn99 Awesome! Thanks man!
happy after dancing
son geniales
son geniales
man this was cool. wanna see stomp the yard and drum line now.
You're a great asset to the team lol =]
GO TENORS!!!!!!!!!!!
I might not have been the best performance, but I'm sure it got some people to realize how cool marching can be.
I knew I heard that cadence from somewhere! It's the one from the movie Drumline...lol
awww look at the little baby tenors. they're so small
@nr132386 dude I marched with crown way back in the day.. Have fun man. It sucked at the time but looking back it was the best 3 summers I had. Loads of fun...minus the gym floors.
Those HAND FILLS!
@drumersl so how were they able to get it from morris brown cause there is know sheet music for HBCU cadences unless the people who made the movie wrote out the cadence for them.
or this guy might b my fav
Wow
Im still amazed by how clean it is. If you close your eyes it sounds like only one Quint, one snare and bass and cymballine
It really isn't
I'm amazed at how sloppy it is.
Perron el video
the amount of light is proportional to difficulty of instrument
Fight On!!!
The drumline is playing a part from Drumline the line.
I think.
@drumersl also does USC still play this like for the crowd at football games
FIGHT ON !!
@TheDragonmaster18
The cadence was requested by Tommy Lee.
was one of these cadences in the movie drumline? idk who had it first so dont yell at me about it lol
Or maybe it's the fact that no DCI groups have their lines set in December when they would need to start preparing.
the guy who is dancing he is the character from the movie "stamp the yard"
Fight on!
Who the hell is the guy dancing ? Like what's his purpose ??😂
step up the movie oudition....
Same thing I was thinking. What is he adding?
cool
well hearing that cadence i now feel like watching drumline. lol
i wanna know why they were playing a knockoff off destruction from MBC ?
ah yess the cowbell!!
I know that they probably rehearsed the music for like 10 min, but it has to be cleaner than that.
Bring out Top Secret.
Moderfaker
Did you ask Morris Brown if it was okay to cover their cadence...seeing as they composed it.
Mike Lilly I’m just hearing of them playing this #composer
is that UCLA cadence within? Sick...
@metachozo Because they're USC, basically.
how would i get my drumline toplay at drum off or when ever the next drum off is
i just pissed my pants!
@REDredy agreed...
How was Khalid mic'd up?
What, they couldn't have gotten UCLA's line or something? Or even the Blue Devils?
