Hey @Tommy @TFL I have a question. I follow you guys on all platforms so... What if when you guys do these reviews on the audio you guys cut it from RUclips and post it on TT, or IG or just make a completed different clip on those other platforms? 🤔 Or do you guys get hit with the same Copyrights there too? Just a thought... And yes as your dad said @Roman everyone should know that the sound won't come through the same without some high end mics but hey it's something 😉 👍
I don't get what the issue is with the touchpad. Test drove one and within 3min of using it. I got used to it and prefer it over touch screen. I get it that it should have the touchscreen as well but that's would defeat the purpose. Reaching your arm out almost fully extended to touch the screen is counterintuitive, especially while driving. I find the touchpad very useful when I am driving. It's also relaxing to use. I don't need to lean forward uncomfortably just to use the infotainment. I can just sit back in my driving position and navigate through the infotainment. It's just intuitive to me.
Agreed……..I think it has become standard commentary for most car “experts” to just bash the touchpad because everyone else is doing it………The touchpad is much better and easier to use than a touchscreen. I have no idea why people would think that reaching out to a screen to scroll threw menus is “intuitive” while driving.
I have the touch pad in my Acura and I agree with you. It is not hard to learn. I guess it's just too steep of a learning curve for some people. Regardless, it keeps greasy fingerprints from showing like a touchscreen does.
I have no complaints or issues with the touch pad during my 2 weeks loaner experience with this vehicle. This one of this personal preferences matters, but imo, hardly a deal killer when deciding for-against the MDX.
Never thought I'd say this but I actually prefer the touchpad over the touch screen. Once you get used to it it's a lot easier than hunting for space on a touchscreen. The area where it fails is using Carplay or Android Auto because it acts like a mouse pad in those applications. If you stick to the Acura interface it's easier and safer than a touchscreen.
Amazingly I really enjoy the touchpad, it is much more comfortable to use and your screen stays without fingerprints. I will say that it would be nice to have both as some people prefer the touchscreen
Could not agree more. The way my brain works, the touch pad is intuitive.. must be how I naturally think as there was no learning curve. It's the other systems that I have to 'think' what I'm doing. To each their own!
It becomes second nature once you realize that you should not break contact with the pad before clicking in corners. The interior space created by moving the display forward is priceless, creates the illusion of spaciousness. Also love the padded wrist support behind the touchpad, protects the phone so nicely. Our Type S is awesome, half the price of an equivalent MB.
Great vehicle. Drives way better than the standard MDX. Very nice daily driver. Can have fun with it in sport mode. Air suspension options make this vehicle a jack of all trades. Love it.
When you tested the acceleration, you didn’t press the drive mode into sport. You have to press the drive button twice so the light ring turns red and it goes much faster than when the ring is green. Maybe that’s why the acceleration didn’t really blow you away respectively 😅
ELS Studio 3D/Signature audio is probably top three in car audio system across all manufacturers period. That needs to be mentioned. Air suspension and handling set this apart. Power is not anything to right home about agreed. Feature wise it has a lot to offer. Looks great in person.
Great content, however the button inside of the cargo is used to close the tailgate after you walk away, not to lower the rear of the car like other makes.
Have had my MDX Type S now for 2 months. Absolutely love it. The touch pad is a learning curve…definitely prefer it over a touch screen with finger prints all over it. Wish it gave you an eco mode… mpg is not the best with me averaging 22.6 with mixed driving (was able to get 26 on highway road-trip) Overall very happy with it, and definitely think if you’re looking for a sporty suv check this out.
I get tired of the negative comments about the track pad. I actually like it better than a touch screen because I can rest my hand while using the system. You guys act like it’s hard to learn and hard to use. It isn’t.
We have had our MDX type S for a few months now and we really enjoy it. We did have an issue with our air ride system but Acura was able to get it fixed. I don’t love the infotainment but I can deal with it. 355 HP in sport+ mode is very quick and the SHAWD and air ride handles amazingly. They didn’t touch on the amazing sound system.
The MDX is an amazing vehicle. I have 2 at hone. Having said that, I would only consider this “great value” at a $$55K-60K price range. At $70K+ it’s just what I would expect.
so, I use to have a Range Rover Sport and hated the touch screen. Always had fingerprints . Once you get use to the touchpad you will never want to go back. It is so easy to use. Also, this car comes loaded and that 3D sound system is AMAZING! Why pay for the Range Rover name and not get all the special features in this car and the resale is better. Check out the return on your investment. The risidual return is great!
Great review, piano black plastic is a horrible trend that I wish they stop doing. Not only does it really show dust but it scratches super easy. My neighbor has a new Grand Cherokee & by the gear selector is all scratched up & it’s only 3 months old.
I see an attractive aftermarket "wrap" potential for the areas with piano black. Maybe a carbon fiber, brushed aluminum or other treatments. I'd jump all over such a product. Now I have a 2018 Murano and it has generous piano black areas, but not like the MDX.
I agree with Tommy . The Acura MDX type S should have a minimum of 400 Horsepower However, If Acura builds a New MDX Hybrid with a non turbocharged V6 The Hybrid System could easily improve overall MPG and significantly increase Torque and Horsepower
The Type S horsepower is fine, it just needs a Hybrid option, adding more power on top of NA V6 while maintaining a good fuel efficiency. It’s a sweet spot between Regular MDX and Type S.
I just don’t get why every car reviewer on RUclips thinks all the type S models were meant to be track gods. I mean really, how fast are you trying to go on public roads? 355 horsepower is enough, plus I know if I go the German route, it’ll be in the repair shop by 40,000 miles
These two got SOOOO many things wrong with this review it's hilarious. Trunk button doesn't lower car, 'mouse pad' works when you press down, there's more than 3 massage modes (like 9 I think?), Sport+ never selected, etc... if you're interested in this car please search the other reviews.

I think the silver/blue combo is gorgeous. I have a 2020 RDX and actually love the touchpad. Previous car had a touchscreen and I just couldn’t keep up with the fingerprints, so it always felt like I was driving a dirty car. Much prefer the no-touch screen for that reason because it stays clean. Don’t love the piano black, but all in all I think they did a great job with this.

I agree with the touchpad. I would get used to it but I’d still prefer the touch screen. It’s kind of annoying since Honda does touch screen. I also would find the touch pad harder to keep clean since things could fall in between the cracks.
It’s really not that hard to include the touch screen while keeping the touch pad, I don’t think it will cost much for Acura to do both. I’m sure there are many people who still prefer touch screen, even though Acura’s one to one position true touch pad isn’t too bad, but because of it, it’s a dealbreaker for many people and that includes me. Also, Apple CarPlay is designed to use vehicle’s infotainment screen as a touch screen, but you can’t use Acura’s own true touch pad method, but instead, it works like regular mouse pad which is annoying.

The infotainment is an absolute deal killer. Planned on buying one for my mom, but she and I both hated the touch pad. Prefer knobs/buttons or touch screen. Acura dropped the ball with the infotainment. In a time where everyone else is going touch screen or knob, they do the touchpad thing that virtually everyone has hated since its inception, especially on Lexus.
Had a 2011 Mdx advance, bad torque converter, engine oil consumption. Bought a 2016 Mdx advance, whining transmission, stereo sounds like a walkman, rear ac doesn’t exist and more. Never again!

I had a bit of time with one today and my biggest complaint with the type s is the tune. Idk why Acura always does such a neutered tune. If they let it get closer to redline instead of shifting way under and opened up the exhaust, it would really change the overall feel of the type s.
It still uses a timing belt. They need to keep it reliable for still using a belt. I’m shocked they have not upgraded to a chain. Especially for an interference engine. Belt snaps and engine could break.

My wife and I really enjoy and appreciate Honda/Accura products BUT, they have fallen way short in the area of infotainment/navigation systems. Nothing is intuitive and it seems inputting information is exactly opposite of what you would normally do. We get very frustrated with the vehicle navigation.
Yes maybe and I always buy cars just because they have an amazing 360 degree camera. The single most important thing. Completely over shadows everything the Acura does better like the handling, ride, seats, sound system, etc, what could I have been thinking? I stopped even considering Nissans when they teamed with Renault and their ugly stick.

Never again!
very an awesome review guys... actually even though I'm a Toyota owner for the second time. I have a 2012 Toyota Venza AWD v6. It a such. an awesome reliable ride for sure. but in design. I think Acura does it better. body structure and wheels and tires spec.
Grand Cherokee V8 or this?
Looks like the MDX family sedan is more powerful than the Integra, what a shame
Give the Ridgeline 7k towing and this motor and it would sell like hot bread.
This doesn’t compete with the GLE53 LOL. It competes directly with the base X5 and GLE 350, price wise.
They need to get rid of all that cheap piano black and integrate the new civic style dash. It would look much more premium.
2:56 why does it always feel like the kid is 80 years old on the inside, while the father is 20.
Kid's like: look at all the trunk space
Dad: what? you forgot to mention the quad pipes, gramps
MDX Type S is not a real twin turbo, it’s twin scroll. I think they are different.
My wife and I really enjoy and appreciate Honda/Accura products BUT, they have fallen way short in the area of infotainment/navigation systems. Nothing is intuitive and it seems inputting information is exactly opposite of what you would normally do. We get very frustrated with the vehicle navigation.
Plus no 360
There is a 360
@@dndodd100 not like nissan it's amazing
Yes maybe and I always buy cars just because they have an amazing 360 degree camera. The single most important thing. Completely over shadows everything the Acura does better like the handling, ride, seats, sound system, etc, what could I have been thinking? I stopped even considering Nissans when they teamed with Renault and their ugly stick.
@@dndodd100 ur a troll. Have a safe and fun Memorial weekend
Man, Roman’s got to do some cardio. He’s a small B cup pushing a C.
Your finger just goes right where you want to the track pad
Please please put this engine in the Ridgeline. It'd had almost the same powerplant since its inception and needs something new.
Ridgeline is already a $50k vehicle. Why would anyone pay $60k for a Ridgeline when you can get a far superior truck with way more room, horsepower, fuel economy, payload, towing……
Will never happen.
Explorer st is rwd based and has 400 hp acura needs to step it on badly
First they need to get away with that button gear selector and add touch screen before I look at this
Well all mdx with sh-awd all motor are the same the chances you get is interior
The dialog felt as it had a lot of friction, disagreement, and abruption. Not sure what happened between two of you but it was akward and it did not bring anything new. Everything you said was covered by many others in the past. I was excited to see the notification popping up but was dissapointed by the quality and rush.
Someone really should have pulled that hair off of Tommy’s shoulder. I think Case was having fun pointing the camera at it to give the OCD folks fits. :)
Old people hate the touch pad.. lol
too bad that there no EV version of this MDX 😢 considered this initially but decided my next car purchase will have to be EV for sure
Coming in 2024
@@ApriliaRacer14 source?
@@csiistandard Google. Going to be built on Cadillac’s EV platform.
A track pad is not enough to cancel out a car. Mercedes and bmw had track lads for years
What is the song that Case hates? Lol
you young kids don't know what back seat spacing is. lol, lol
and us older folks don't know either anymore. where is the back seat where you can cross your legs and ride?
maybe we will see the space come back in the battery vehicles.
The Acura badge is radar.
You boys need to do more homework.
Give the beans first as always.
AND I WILL BUY A FULLY LOADED MDX TYPE S ADVANCE ANYWAY.
Why does everyone act like they have never used a laptop mouse pad, it's not that hard.....

Gas mileage is deplorable considering the performance. Slower than X5 40i and considerably worse gas mileage. Ridiculously slower than X5 M50i and same/worse gas mileage. V6 performance, V8 gas mileage. For 3.0L and 355 HP, it's impressively inefficient :(
Stats:
MDX Type-S - 355 HP - 17/21 mpg
BMW X7 40i - 375 HP - 21/25 mpg (X7 is significantly larger)
BMW X5 M50i - 523 HP - 16/22 mpg
This is probably trying to compete with the Genesis. Which it seems to do to some degree.
This and genesis are the only truly competitive luxury Asian midsize suvs
@@allentoyokawa9068 who cares about the dealer experience? You’re not gonna be living in the dealership. You’ll visit it every few months for service but you’ll be in and out
It’s the car itself that matters.
I Thought this was a V6 turbo
Single Turbo not twins.
Lol since when does Roman need dubs lmao
Love Acura/Honda but no 360 view is let down except after seeing Nissan's

HAPPY FRIDAY.... HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE
Wow, haven't watched you guys for a while, Tommy went from kiddo to full on OLD, what happened?
It’s not a twin turbo fyi lol 😂
The biggest problem with Acura is they by far make the ugliest luxury cars of any brand.
Single turbo.
You should compare this to the Explorer ST. No one has done it but they are both mid sized luxury sport 3 row SUV"s. Both have twin turbo V-6. 👍👍👍
