Arem is my bias in Rolling Quartz, but every time Iree is on-screen you can't help but return her big smile. She just looks so damn happy to be performing.
Luckily, I do speak Korean. And I agree. They are wicked cool. In Korea fan bases for metal and girl groups are not so large. And I also hope they develop a strong base in Korea as well as overseas. 💪💪🎹🎹🎵🎵✨✨❤❤
Hopefully they can get a good fan base in the years to come. Plus I think it's a good idea to use idol visuals in their music videos to help them attract more people.
Interviews, reactions, and VLives are really making me realize i need to double down on my efforts to learn Korean. I just feel like the older I get the harder something like that is, but i ain't getting any younger. I hope RQ is able to form a strong and lasting fan base among the korean GP and globally for many years. They literally rock.
@@Cowgirlsteve26 random reply, but you're absolutely correct. At 3-10 humans are literal sponges when it comes to language. And setting all the parameters for grammar (also why good education is so dang important). Past 30 it IS harder to learn, just how the brain works. But no matter what, I'm gonna prove that brain wrong.
Personally I'd like to see a deeper discussion with them, or any girl group, really. Most of the time Korean female artists are interviewed in a very superficial way about makeup, clothing, who is most likely in the group to do this or that, asking for aeygo, etc. I'd like to see a more serious conversation about the challenges they face in the industry; possible sexism, harassment and belittlement; how difficult it is to make it in the Korean music industry, especially if one is a non-K-pop artist; whether K-pop is sucking up all the industry resources leaving other music genres with next to nothing; whether it's problematic that literally dozens of new girl groups debut every year, few of them ever making any money, why this is happening, and whether this is a sign of some problems in the system that produces groups; what could/should be changed about the Korean music industry; how deeply a group analyses their own music and its meaning, or if they just put together notes and lyrics that sound good regardless of meaning; how much they focus on learning music theory, and if they do, then how much time do they spend on it; what are their goals as artists, not in terms of sales and recognition, but in terms of creative output, etc. Whom better to have a conversation about all this than with an all-girl rock group, which is quite rare not just in Korea, but everywhere?

Just comes with the music. For reference Dreamcatcher's "Sahara" 'budget' MV or Floor Jansen from Nightwish performing "Shudder before the beautiful" (they got a live MV)
From being a dreamcatcher fan to become a rolling quartz fan is just a natural step, if you have not listened to their mini album yet go on and do it, it's very well done, every single track is absolutely enjoyable... honestly had not have this much fun with a pop rock band since Averil Lavigne Sk8ter boi...
Also japanese girl rock band *Scandal* was this good their first 3 or 4 years. Shamely enough they later changed to a more mainstream pop style, maybe forced by their company.
@@BlackHoleSpain You are a little off about Scandal. As they grew in popularity they made a lot more decisions themselves as in ditching the matching outfits and what direction their music would go in. They are at the point now that they own their own label. It is the opposite of what you said, they got more freedom to choose their direction then being told what direction to go in.
@@dennisa4039 I guess you're right same thing happened with Bandmaid over the years, they are also starting to grow their own personal taste in their music as their fan base grew and they found their solid footing... actually I was starting to think maybe RQ should go on and do a collaboration with one of these super successful JRock girl bands some time in the new future... not a ft tho, more of a vs... a five minutes long track with girls of each band playing their pieces and showing off their skills... that could get epic fast...
@@BlackHoleSpain Same here, I was a big fan, even my very first asian gg CD was theirs (kagen no tsuki - all editions), and even the budokan Blue Ray, but their latest releases are not as attractive as their "non-indie", but that's their true style, what they always wanted to do. TMI: my very fist CD was "Let Go".
Oh my goodness! Am I ever glad I'm subscribed to your channel. Had no idea a new album came out. I got caught up with all the other GG's coming out with such good bangers lately. " Azalea " off this album is so so good. Please Diadems don't hate me when I say that Rolling Quartz reminds me of a J-rock group by the name of Band-Maid when they first debuted back in 2913. This is high praise. And Sera we love you too. We are happy yes. We are happy when u r happy. If you are ever sad I hope we can make you happy. And if any of us are sad I'm sure you can make us happy. Until your next video. May you be blessed with good health and happiness.
Actually, if you want to compare to J-rock, they are more similar to early scandal 2008-2012 era. They have that raw garage band sound about them that I love.
I had an idea, but I'm not sure how possible it is. Instead of a regular gift a fun time... To try organise a fun activity and/or dinner with RQ and DC combined. Or maybe just a few members of both groups, depending on their interests. It could be anything from a picnic, bowling to karaoke. Something fun, light-hearted and (for the most part) without cameras. If any member wants to vlog or tiktok, or just a few pictures fans would love it, but the main idea is for everyone to just have a good time. But most of all, I'd like the girls to get to know each other in a relaxed way as possible. A small group (three of each) would be perfect... plus the perfect host, you! How hard would that be to organise? Could and would you? And what would be a nice budget for a fun time? It might take a while for their schedules to allow for it, but it should be possible to get a few Insomnias and Diadems and raise the needed budget quickly.
Well hopefully if Covid continues to trend down internationally they will get some invites to some rock music festivals and international music festivals to get wider exposure. A thought I had is that if Dreamcatcher goes out on tour this year that they bring along RQ as their opening act. I think most Insomnia are aware of Dreamcatcher, but there probably are some that aren't who would enjoy RQ if they opened a DC concert with a 5 or 6 song warm up set and they would be a great opening act from a style standpoint as DC is so rock-infused.
Don't know much about rock scene in Korea but this music in context the traditional roles set for women, the demands for conformity and lack of autonomy in Korean society and in particular the K Pop industry, has to be unbelievably liberating for these girls and their Korean fans.
Hi Sera!!! Just wanted to say I am such a huge fan of yours, and seeing your reaction videos brings me so much joy. I love hearing your thoughts and getting to see you produce content. If you get the chance, please watch Brave Girl's comeback Thank You! It has a very 80s disco vibe to it and I think you'd love it. The lyrics are also very sentimental and beautiful, and I would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you for being you and producing content, I love you oke bye
Since I know you like Dreamcatcher, you should check out an all female Japanese band name Band-Maid. Check out the song Domination (live). I promise you will not regret it.
It looks like the guitar players are genuine, but it looks like the drummer is definitely getting help from another drummer. Am I crazy? That being said, I love a hard rock female group.
You are crazy...LOL. She actually graduated top of her class on drums and is also teaching Handong from Dreamcatcher to play. Everything you hear is really her playing. This is the real deal, they write and play their own music as well as do bang up covers of other great rock tunes.
nah she's the real deal and she's fucking crazy too 😂 she was a preemie so that's why she's so petite but don't be fooled by appearances she has a lot of stamina
I don't speak or understand Korean even though I do have friends from work and other areas in life who used to actually live in Seoul for many years. I stumbled across the documentary on your group after I saw a report about China banning all these Chinese bands with feminine young men in them. There was a time long ago in the American music industry when men and women were treated the way you were as a member of Nine Muses. But here, in America, as a people our tolerance level is just not that high. We're bad tempered and very confrontational and much more protective of our selves. Your managers at Star Empire probably would have been curse out and told to take their offer of stardom and shove it. It's just the way Americans are. Makes no difference of race of color. We're brought up to simply not let people abuse us. I know people who tried to start a band and things didn't work out so they immediately went solo as an artist. People here do want stardom but not at the expense of letting companies abuse us and leave us in debt. Besides, you can become a star just starting on youtube now like Justin Bieber did. Nothing is more important than the happiness and well being of one self. Stardom should not be the be all that ends all in a person's life. There has to be more.
Sera is an Insomnia(president of the Insomnia) and she see's how easy it is for Insomnia to transition to Diadem. We love both groups.
