Lovely green which I would use with a Noodlers Sequoia green and a 1.5 stub nib.

It is quite rare now but if you can, test a Lamy Lady Rosenthal with the plaid porcelain barrel. I use with Diamine Eclipse and Ancient copper ink. Also have an original Rotring 600 fountain pen.

I love Lamy Studio's (I have two), I am thinking about getting an Aion and ink-up with a Diamine green-black. Great review, thanks!

This is an excellent review; thanks for highlighting the pen dimensions, and mentioning the play on the cap. David Parker [Figboot on Pens], in a 2017 review of the Aion, pointed out that the cap also rattles when you shake the pen. Will you please be kind enough to comment on this particular issue, and perhaps test it on your newer Aion? Also, does the Pelikan 4001 Dark Green have reasonable water resistance? Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

It’s a very slight rattle when shaking the pen. Though I do not shake my pens in normal use and the slight play on the cap does not find the nib drying out. I would recommend checking out the full review that I did for 4001 Dark Green. It was rather extensive.

Great review. I'll buy a Lamy Aion BRG based on your review. I was on the fence, but now I want it bad. Also, plz do a review of J. Herbin Verte Atlantide ink review. Would love it if you do.

    My sentiments entirely.
Safari etc are for kiddies, the CP1 is a hipster's pencil and the Studio is a failed prototype, nice clip, shame about the pen, too skinny, ruined in aesthetics and in use by the shiny metal grip. The Aion, a perfected Studio, and the 2000 are for discerning adults.
It now comes in a more substantial clamshell case and the wiggle has been corrected but the revolving cap remains, which is probably inevitable with a snap cap.
For me, it ticks all the boxes, understated classic style, great design and manufacture, value for money and a lovely colour - with a gloss paint job it would be perfection. Add a piston filler and a gold nib and I'd think I'd woken up in Heaven. But don't be greedy, that would double the price.
If there is any justice, it will become a new modern classic like the 2000, now rather quaint in a 'futuristic' hooded nib, Parker 51, retro sixties style.

Lamy has not fixed the cap issue.... It's why I did not order this gorgeous green pen.

Oh no...I was so determined to get this green Aion. It’s just about as perfect as a green can be on a fountain pen. And I like (and own) green pens. I’ll probably buy the pen anyway, and pretend the loose cap problem doesn’t exist.

@@sajjadhusain4146 How is your pen? I'm looking into getting one but it's rather expensive. I don't want my purchase to disappoint me

@@houghwhite411 …I did buy the Dark Green Lamy Aion last month. And I’m very glad I did. I had previously bought he Silver Aion.
I like the pen a lot. The style, design, feel in hand, a large but not heavy pen. Both my fine and medium nibs on the two pens write very reliably and splendidly, every time. The ‘loose’ cap problem that I feared turned out to be a non-issue for me. The cap doesn’t have a tight, snug fit to the section as many other snap-cap pens might. But the cap still fits and feels secure enough. The nib never dries out either.
I bought my Aion for $ 72-76 (minus shipping to my state). For a pen of this quality, reliability and very understate yet elegant and pleasing in its own right, I’d say the Aion is worthwhile buy. Of course, you must take your budget into consideration. I’d argue the pen is a pretty great value on the price .
