Elizabeth Taylor speaks so eloquently and is breathtakingly beautiful. This rare footage is a gift to all Taylor/Todd fans. You’ll never see two people like this again. Thank you

She was so beautiful. And I love her voice as well as the way she spoke. Here you can clearly hear traces of her English accent.

I've always loved her English accent. It is heard very clearly in my favorite Elizabeth Taylor movie, "National Velvet. "

Welles also did a version of Around the World ten years before Todd, for Broadway.

It was an expensive, elaborate failure, which closed almost immediately after it's premiere. It was a musical, with songs by Cole Porter. I watched or listened to parts of a TV or radio abridgement of this stage musical (can't remember which) and was very disappointed at the poor quality of the songs, to say nothing of the operetta style singers.

Liz Taylor said in her autobiography that their arguments, their fights would make their
    marriage stronger …
Debbie Reynolds said in her book that Liz and Mike were arguing, she slapped his face and he slapped hers, and then he grabbed by the hair, pulling her into another room and
she was kicking and screaming; Debbie went after them, thinking Liz was in big trouble-
and in the other room she found them on the floor laughing and laughing …😊😊

Wonder what motivated creation and broadcast of this show. It smells of PR promotion for something, either a theatrical re-release of Around the World in 80 Days or a prime time TV premiere of the film. It's the kind of superficial documentary where you know the subject is being treated with kid gloves and through rose colored glasses. Curious that Orson Welles would be narrating it, he accused Mike Todd of stealing elements of Wells stage production for the film; Todd produced Wells stage version. I'm pretty sure Todd was the kind of ballsy, self- promoting SOB -- a talented hustler, -- that
Kirk Douglas played in the classic film The Bad and the Beautiful.
