Art is just such a balancing act between "learning and understanding xy" and "forgetting about the rules and limits we set for ourselfes" I think one of the reasons art takes so long to become really comfortable in(for most artists Ik at least), is because it includes a lot of self-exploration and society is great at telling us what we should and shouldn't be like and limiting our beliefs by that. A grown elefant only stays captured because it believes that the chain at it's foot can still hold it back
You always start badly, it’s that way for everyone. I mean if you’re constantly comparing to amazing artist of course you’ll feel like yours is bad, but actually, when you start getting better and look at your old art it’s so fun cus the proportions look all goofy and you know what you did wrong haha.
Unironically enough, I think I got better at drawing by growing up and just... Doing other stuff. I tried to learn how to draw all my childhood, yet failed every single time. And so, one night four years ago, when I was 15, I was just lying in bed, and thinking about an old dream I had, which I kinda forgot early on because of some stupid fears. It was to make my own game, and the reason I kinda stopped thinking about it for most of my childhood was because I assumed that by the time I grow up, every single idea for the story will be taken. But by then I grew up, and was writing some fan fictions for my favourite indie fandoms, and so I thought that if I can't make character designs I will start writing. And it made me happy. I found a way to finally release all my inspiration that I was collecting throughout my life. All these four years I was writing more and more and more, making my own universe, that was also inspiring me. And what's important is that I got better at writing. I got better at analysing what my problems were and how I can fix them. And there were also other things that I started taking more analytically, thinking about how and why. And so, four years later, in January I started drawing again... And in just a month I made the biggest progress I could imagine! My mind was finally at the right place to actually learn and study. And these past few months... Were incredible. I am still far away from being able to freely draw the characters I like, but I got to actually enjoy drawing! And it quite literally saves me rn, since I am currently at my first year in university and honestly I don't know if I want to keep stressing about education. At least now I believe that with time, I can become an artist
I'm kinda the opposite sadly, I have drawn quite a lot as a kid (mostly looking at art on a slide phone that can access the internet and redraw it on paper) and got pretty comfortable drawing bodies, but as I grow up, my hand became more and more rigid and wobbly after years of not drawing due busy school schedule. I can't even trace a straight line even after weeks of practicing just doing that. While I still do some stuffs such as drawing some sketches for planning decorations, I always have to set smoothing to very high (~80-100% smoothing in photoshop) in order to get an okay-ish line. I know art is done by practicing but even if I do, I don't feel like I can improve much. I know I kinda come of as playing the blame game and I should be practicing but there's just something that blocks me from being able to do so, both mentally and time.
Thank you so much for this video! It reiterated to me the reason I have art block: I'm guilting myself for not improving rather than making the art I want to make with the skills I have now. Love your artstyle(s), btw. You've got a fan in me who'll watch whatever strikes your fancy to make!
Thank you for those words at the end. I’ve been struggling with some things in my life and what you said was an eye opener for me :) Great video as always
Riifu, please don’t get discouraged by hate comments, it’s a part of an amazing journey:) remember to keep going and never give up, your content is honestly amazing and I can’t wait to see more
Love seeing artists talk about their art process, didn't know you did everything in Procreate! I have to get back to using my iPad some more, I've stuck to Clip Studio Paint for the past year. Also, I can relate with drawing grass and clouds a lot hahaha
5:05 I think it's really encouraging to see that every artist has a unique way of creating their own art, you tried to imitate the style you saw in that Ina stream but you found out it wasn't your thing, and that's okay! Every artist goes through such a process in order to develop a style that they're happy with. It can be daunting for a new/less experienced artist but exercising patience and practice always helps you to learn more about your own art and how you view other peoples' art as well! Really great video Riifushi, I hope you attain your goals in learning how to draw those immersive worlds!
Three staff to know about me i 1.don't know how to draw (expt for one thing) 2.i don't know nothing about drawing 3.i know how to derw a stick man (barly)
1:55 Full body do be more detailed... Especially nape! Shhhush! You got banned from the cafe for making a rhyme with another particular word Oland! Plus also, wasting a ton of an admins time over explaining the bit and other things your anxious mind thought you had to make mends for which didn't really matter and just wasted a ton of time! Remember, social skills! 4:33 Woah 7:26 Super Mario Galaxy! 8:13 The cafe logo! 9:30 I tie way too much self-worth to what I draw...

Interesting, as usual ! Thus, a brush is the cause of this "blur" effect as i named it... About ideas to enhance this visual attire of thine, i would suggest a personal background which appears when thy character is upon the screen ? Taking recess before resuming any works (especially in art) is indeed advised. For one will notice flaws with a gander afterwards. And first and foremost : Love the creating process, without disregarding the results obviously. But one ought to remains objective toward their own work, regardless of their nature.
I already love your content so much and I’m struggling to learn how to draw do you have any tips for consistent drawing like how to get used to getting into a routine, also i would love to see more drawing tutorials in your style. Just so you know you just got a viewer for life have a great day ❤

Ah yes, just in time for my weekly "I have no literally zero artistic skill" sulking session.
At least you can make computers do what you want. Even if sometimes, the inverse happens.
