The Matrix of Leadership was supposedly going to debut before the movie, in the season 2 episode "Cosmic Rust". Rumor has it that the episode script mentions it as having been taken to the then-dead Autobot colony world of Antilla.
Whilst I'd give firepower and fighting ability to RX-78-2 Gundam...I think, as we saw in the animated movie, Optimus Prime has SO much strength of will that even close to death he would fight until there was nothing left - So I think I go with Prime! :)
Not sure if you see it James, or if I'm seeing things, but the face of Optimus Prime with his antennas on each side, kind of reminds one of the Batman face mask. Also, Optimus Prime was voted years back as the best leader in a cartoon series in poll of a magazine, could be online, I cannot remember. Thanks for the video. Was a really good watch.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video - And I can kind of get behind your Batman/Prime comparison - Now, a Batman Transformer...if that hasn't happened already, it should! :)
If you like voice work, and hearing actors jump back and forth, you're going to LOVE the video that goes up on the channel on the 23rd of this month...:)
Yeah, as a kid, even though I loved those KARR episodes, I never clocked that Cullen was involved - It wasn't until the mid-nineties when I first got on-line that I learned about his role as KARR! :) - Man, I need to watch those Knight Rider episodes again...
I did a fanfic that mentioned the aftermath of Prime Target (it's called *Legacy of the Last Headhunter* and is both on my DA and Transformersfanfic pages). I had it where Chumley mentions - after resurfacing unexpectedly - that he spent some time in a Russian Gulag before obtaining a transfer to a prison in Great Britain because the British Ambassador to the Soviet Union owed him a favour. From there, he manipulated the system for early release. From thence he gets into mischief by attempting to take the pelt of my OC for a trophy. Maybe he thinks she'd make a nice throw rug. 😛
The shot you took of the trailer is something that I noticed also in my rewatch of the ultimate Doom mini-series. It appears that the trailer is materializing. In a sense it seems to operate much like the size shifting of the boombox Transformers/Cybertonians.
It's bizarre that in no production materials it was ever stressed - I think it was often up to the storyboard artist and animation director to figure out where it was going and where it was coming from! :)
I really enjoyed this episode, Optimus Prime is one of the greatest cartoon characters or if not the greatest cartoon character of all time!! He just stands out along with He-Man, Lion-O, Voltron, and Hulk Hogan.
If he can turn gray when he dies, then I guess he could turn blue. 🤷♂️ I think there was a pre-TF Diaclone toy where among various color schemes available, one of them was blue. That COULD'VE been where it came from, or it could've been some completely unrelated error.
I've seen the budgets for Transformers...it was outsourced to Toei-Doga...and they didn't do things cheap! :) - AKOM episodes on the other and...now those WERE cheaply made! :) - Also, it freaks me out that Hasbro only ever release Rhino's God-awful "remastering" of the series - People think "Heavy Metal War" was actually broadcast with all those mistakes - It's nuts! :)
A good 50 facts on the best Prime of all Primes, Optimus Prime. Some I knew and some I didn't, I liked the ones on the animation mistakes. Seems to be a very recurring theme in 80s cartoons. With artists & animators having to work to take deadlines. That is sadly nothing new. It is still happening into this very day. Just shows quality takes time, as they say more haste, less speed. In all one of my top cartoon/toy characters, being a Transformers fan I do have some of the 100 figures and a few third party ones. Where Hasbro/Takara Tomy cannot be bothered or sorting out their mistakes. Got to love some of those companies. And I would not have been there without Beast Wars. A series I hold close to my heart and yes like many others I did lose my **** at that scene. It was the best. So I look forward to the next video.
Actually I think the writing of prime was thrown off in those first three episodes due to being written by George Arthur Bloom. He wrote like four episodes of the series in total and, Prime's character was never so unkind to his own team after that as far as I can remember. Still, it's important to realize when your leader (like Optimus) says to do something, you just do it. 😊💯
In my Transformers storyboards(that will never get made), Optimus Prime's trailer does not simply vanish, but rather when SkySpy shows up and a truck driver(who's son calls him Spike), driving has an accident crashing into the alien satellite, and it, techno-morphs with the truck into Prime, Prime then makes an agreement to help Spike finish delivering his delivery loads.
Loved this. :) You did Optimus justice with this video James. :) Those factoids were awesome and yeah I'll admit I actually enjoyed cereal:geek issue 9 personally too. ;) :D
Thank you, sir - I'm actually recording scripts for MANY more of these lists over the next few weeks...and the videos will debut throughout next year...and 2025...and probably even 2026! :)
It would be nice if I could turn this channel into a career going forward...as I sacrifice MUCH time to make these videos...time I could actually be earning money - BUT, frustratingly, I do this for the LOVE of the subject matter! :)
@@cerealgeekTV There's nothing wrong in doing that, though I can understand that it is hard trying to turn a hobby not known for making money, into one that does. Perhaps this channel will help with that, if not to make money directly, but perhaps to help lead you into a direction that can? :)
I can't speak about "Jem & The Holograms," but I can vouch that in the other Hasbro/Marvel/Sunbow cartoons for G. I. Joe and Inhumanoids, a number of other lorries made up of red cabs and grey trailers show up, which means Optimus picked a really good disguise for blending in, in that universe. Unrelated thing I just had to get off my chest: I would swear that Lord Chumley was voiced by Brian Blessed, the voice is so similar.
The visual of Optimus Prime's great run from the movie inspired me to include it as a clip for the intro of my House of Love show's Second Season. And I didn't replace it until at least Season... Five, I believe. The only scene anywhere near as awe-inspiring was the circle-pan around the assembled Avengers from the first movie/Battle of New York.
"Sure Shot" is my favorite Beastie Boys track...I had the single, on vinyl, back in the day - "I've got more rhymes than I've got gray hairs...and that's a lot because I've got my share!" :)
I love your channel, Always being more 80's greatest moment! And love old school sound effects! Keep up good work! Make more Transformers G1 Highlights.
One of my fave all time tf characters for sure. I def knew a lot of these especially dealing w the toons. But I must say when we see Optimus prime was a lot more annoyed to me in prime target w lord chumley was looking to acquire him.
They're making TWO of them. One is slightly recolored with different colored eyes and windows or something like that, and only one of them comes with a trailer. I think maybe one of them has an accessory that the other doesn't have.
It's funny...as much as I love the original animated movie, once Prime dies and we have all the new characters, I DO find myself emotionally checking out to a degree - Although my interest piques when Unicron reveals his robot form and attacks Cybertron! :)

ah yes, even Lord Chumley commented on Optimus Prime's temper in Prime Target.
NEVER piss off Optimus Prime was the moral of THAT story! :)

THAT would've been very interesting to see! :)
You forgot to mention that Peter Cullen Based his Optimus Prime voice off of his Brother Captain HL. "Larry" Cullen
No, I didn't forget...Dusan suggested that fact, but I decided against including it - You can only include so much in one of these lists! :)

#40, Optimus’s Temper. I still remember that scene. Made me jump when I first saw it. Uh-oh. Dad’s mad. 😮
LOL - "Dad's mad" - But you're right, it leaps from the screen, because he goes from zero to one hundred in about half a second! :)

#43: MEGATRON WON'T LET LEAD!!!! I, Starscream, am now leader of the...Autobots?
Yeah, now he's all kinds of confused! :)
Peter Cullen's voice was everywhere in the 80's. Even on Voltron.
I would say that Venger is probably my favorite voice of Cullen's besides that of Optimus Prime! :)
He was also one of the two voices of KARR.
