The elephant in the room that you ignore is how to fit text to the entire page, without changing font size, forget that, but with making the settings so the text doesn't just stop in a long essay with footnotes and leave blank space randomly at the bottom of some pages before getting to the footnote section. It's a weird bug in the system. I've called Microsoft help; the lady was of no help. I posted it on the Word support board too and am waiting for a response. I hate Word because it makes simple things complex and hidden, the opposite of what a user-friendly program should do.
