    Super nice, i am new to tubeamplifiers and are now starting a we91a clone like, 300b diy build, so finding your video teaching serie, is what i need now. I am not an electrishian, and learn everyting i need by reading and looking on web videos. You are a great teacher, so i learn a lot from this serie. Thank you very much.

    Nice video series so far, helping to filling in some gaps I have, can not wait to see the rest of the series especially the testing and tweaking stages the showing of the voltages etc using your meters and scopes etc will be good and maybe showing some of the methods used to obtain certain values for the tone caps and biasing stages etc, the power supplies and how to obtain voltages really interest me, well all of it does actually..:)
    Thanks for your time in creating these videos really appreciate it, and by the way you don't ramble you inspire & teach

    807 is a great choice. Top cap plate connector gives it that cool factor.

    With regards to SE Tonality Chart . . .
    Keith Richards signature studio tone came from two Fender Champs, one clean / one dirty - soo
    Actually, many of the guitar sounds people can't seem to find - probably came from a single ended guitar amp in the studio

    807s were used to drive the deflection coils in a lot of older DuMont TV receivers.

    I just want to say a big thank you, Ive built a bottlehead crack headphone kit amp, and wanted to build a scratch build. Your wonderful videos and advice has helped me take a leap into this great hobby. Just wondering if you have already or plan to in the future of build a tube based RIAA preamp?

    Speakers more suited to single end valve amplifier would be a book shelf type,with higher mechanical impedance to keep bass under control which gives you titer bass

    I have used 807 for 160 meter RF amp class AB1 grid bias. they are a good tube. still made. I have china ones. still work good.

    I've built a 6L6 single ended amp driven with a 12AX7. I'm running about 280 volts on the plate with .039 amps of bias. I'm also using a Speco style 5-25 watt 70 volt line transformer as the output transformer. It sounds good down to about 93 hz, then goes into distortion. Should I've have sprung for the Classictone? Can 70 volt line transformer be used as an output transformer? Is THIS the reason this sounds like crap? Thank you for your time and great videos!

    I am a few weeks learning simple electronics. I am quickly picking up the subject by watching demonstrations and video tutorials rather than from boring textbooks. I am looking at EveryCircuit for app for my iPad and other apps and softwares too. It does circuit simulations and shows speed and movements of circled electrons on paths.

      usually horn loaded speakers. heritage series klipsch.

      I use klipsch cornwalls, but many of their line meets the goal. There are many folded horn speakers out there as well.

    Tube pa , using high voltage and output transformer , causing soft dampling factor , instead of Transistor : low voltage high current and strong damping for Loudspeaker
    ( Output Capacitor Less ) , therefore with two different kinds of Sound Tone.

    couldn't you designate more tubes to help with bass response and a bigger output stage. say like 6 and designate three of them for bass response so they are pushing more bass to mid range by adjusting there capacitors and resistors? wouldn't this sort out these issue with the lack of bass response? and may be having up to 8 or 10 acting as a equaliser to have a complete balance of the spectrum and introducing more inductors into the mix not just the power supply.

      not in a simple amplifier. sounds good in theory, a pain to execute. Think about it, you would have to have a cross-over of some sorts to spilt apart the frequency ranges, it wouldn't be much of a pure amplifier

      Blueglow Electronics well using 6 is not too much of a problem and adjusting their frequencies for a nice flat response wouldn't be too difficult. I get what you're saying it would be a lot of trial and error may be to get it right but isn't the goal to have the best balanced amplifier possible with fairly low distortion. If you can just build one amplifier and that's all you need for the rest of your life, maybe you might give it some thought in the future and build the ultimate amplifier at a reasonable cost. Talking about crossovers I've never seen one I don't know if it exists, but has anybody built a passive or active valve crossover?

    So the amplifier your going to build a single ended ultra linear amplifier? That's a nice idea.
    Regarding power of amplifier's, most domestic listening is at 1w or less. Your average big powerful transistor amplifier sits underused. So it's a myth we need big powerful amps, though the headroom is useful.

      And that’s the dilemma I’m in. I already have a solid state, 100 watt, stereo *power* amp (no volume control). What I want to do now is move up to bi-amplification. The problem is there’s no such thing as a tweeter amp. Everything I see on the Internet has ~20hz-20khz and 100 watts and above. I know I can (and will) connect a DSP upstream but why am I relegated to amps that are designed for full range boxes with passive crossovers? So I go to DIY sites to learn what component determines frequency and power output. I’m told about inline filters on the input of the amp and filters on the output of the amp. Neither of these options are my preference. I think a billionaire from here (USA) or China should build a company so users can choose wattage and frequency by adding a card or something. ~boutique stereo manufacturer ~

    why not 6BQ6 these are a dime a dozen and they will put out 3.5 watts at 300 volts plate easy

      There are literally hundreds of tube types I could have picked, I selected one with sentimental reasons for myself. There is no "best" answer...

      I was only thinking of 6BQ6 over 807 because 807'S are way less common and take a less common UX 5 socket

    you talked about push-pull just like if there were no Push-Pull Class A amp. You jumped to class B and AB just like if they were the reason of PP operation.
    you miss the point in there.
    in a PP Class A operation both tubes work in class A, tho with inverted signals.
    one can miss this point while explaining PP operation.
    You know that, obviously; but imho, that can't be bypassed.

    Could also use PCL82 they use a 16V filament. easy to build and have a nice response range. Put one together myself,and used a burnt out tube to house a bluetooth Module so it fits in with the rest of the tubes, Stereo Class A (EZ81 Rectifier, PCL82 x2) Chassi was a reused PA/mixer for an intercom system. Could always use an ECL82 if you prefer the 6.3V filament arrangement.

    Push pull can be class A (single ended have to be class A). So many times inaccurate explanations on this.

    GIve an example of "subjectivity" proven. Personal taste is a given. Other than that, either a concept is proven in fact or it isn't. Subjectivity is a lame, false, concept designed to make mediocrity acceptable. You don't impress me as a mediocre person. You are excellent. Stop apologizing for it.

      Sorry that you don't like my style. If you want short to the point, skipping many of the details style videos, there are thousands of them on youtube, I encourage you to go watch them and just ignore mine. I make them the way I make them because that is what a lot of people enjoy.
