    The Japa made quick work of the slab wood. And you got a nice trailer full of firewood out of it. and had fun doing it congrats.

    That wood looks mighty fine, good for bundles. A good use of slabs which otherwise it would be scrap. Be safe you guys

    That was a heck of an idea to run that slabwood through the processor!! Did a pretty good job!! I burn alot of slabwood in my boiler...get from my log buyer!! I seemed to get demoted quite often too my friend!! Stay safe!! 🍻🍻😀👍

    Try doubling up the slabs, flat-to-flat, and letting a few cut-offs accumulate in the bin before running the splitting ram.

    I used to cut about 50-80T a week of the same sort of stuff. Sleeper backs which is essentially the exact same stuff but left over from milling railway sleepers. Brilliant source of wood.

    I built a table and set my chip saw up on it for slab wood, quick and easy. Any that need a split I just pop with an old maul real quick.

    I burn softwood sawmill slabs in my garage, they make good heat just dont last as long as hardwood, All my slabs are in 2'x8' bundles, some are 4 years old and still burn good, good slab wood demo video........

    That worked pretty good with the slabs. Time to start getting slabs from a mill now haha we just rid of about 20 bundles of slab wood. A guy next to a camp ground bought them. B

    it's good wood for bundles brother i have been use,ing slab wood for 10 years now to mix with regular wood the flat side,s help for good looking bundles.plus it's cheap to use.it just work,s .

    I would have just cut it with a saw perfect size pieces for my wood furnace. Thought about getting some slab wood for myself.

    I wonder how it would have worked if you were to run 2 or 3 pieces at a time. It would have been interesting to have tried it.
    It definitely made short order of them one piece at a time though.

    That machine is cool! Not sure if you've ever seen the processor that mounts to a skid steer but these guys have them "Bigfoot Enterprises" they're on you tube. I thought from that thumbnail Amanda was going to open up a can of "Whoop Ass" on you lol.
    Nice video! Will that thing take 2-3 slabs at a time? Just curious.

    Next time you might try running 2 at a time. Lay them flat side to flat side. May cut your overall time in half! great video.

    I see you got busted Dan. I mean no disrespect to either of you, but I think Amanda is more enjoyable to watch using the Japa. Great idea using the 6-way wedge and your right about using the Japa to process those slab wood pieces. Another great video from the Back 40.

      Thanks...yeah the 6 way worked well and was much easier using the Japa saw instead of trying to buck up with regular chainsaw. 😀👍🍻

    Why do people cut boiler wood 16"? Are the boilers only that deep? Seems the longer the piece the less waste, cost and time.

      Those smaller splits and slab wood splits are for selling in bundles and the roadside stand. I set the big nasty splits aside for the boiler...lol....thanks for being part of the Back 40, appreciate you watching. 😀👍🍻

      Yeah I think with the slabs not all hitting centered made a lot of smaller splits and kindling. But I'll find a use for that stuff as well...lol 😀👍🍻

      That is what it is designed to do. Dan was just using it with slab wood to cut it to length and partially split it.

      I run alot of slabwood thru my processor every year too.. it's perfect for bundles .. plus the upside is most of it dried
