I use to look forward to this show every Saturday morning right after Bugs and Tweety / just before the Weekend Special and Bandstand!!! Those were great Saturday morning memories. RIP Alan Thicke
I haven't seen an episode of this in 30 years -- and I still could hum almost every word of the lyrics to the theme song. Alan Thicke sure wrote some catchy main title themes. All the more strange the producers of "Growing Pains" didn't want him doing theirs. You got to feel the strength of the wilderness The love you give is the love you get 'Cause animals are just like people too They love their families as much as me and you And we've been hunters ever since the world began (huggers? brothers? I never knew what he was singing there) We're the best of friends and we live in one society It was meant to be 'Cause animals are just like people too Animals are just like me and you, like me and you
My mother and I didn't have the same taste in tv shows. I almost had to twist her arm to get her to watch one episode, but after that she saw that one episode, I couldn't keep her away from it !!
The first five episodes were on Saturday nights. September 12, 1987 saw two episodes at morning and night, and the show was on Saturday mornings only from 9/19 onward. IIRC, it replaced "American Bandstand" in the morning timeslot.
Another RI native who made it big: Vin DiBona...from Cranston, RI. I always did like this show. My Dad was a fan, too...he loved learning about wildlife.
They could've done better if they had announcer for the show like Ernie Anderson or Burton Richardson. Intro: From ABC Television Center in Hollywood, it's Animal Crack-Ups. Now here are today's guests, from 9 to 5, Sally Struthers, from Head of the Class, Dan Frischman, from Punky Brewster, Soleil Moon Frye, and LA Raider Todd Christensen. (after the main theme) And now, here's the star of Animal Crack-Ups... ALAN THICKE!!!!
2/15/1989 is the original airdate of the Growing Pains episode(if it was the first-run airing and not a rerun), and was said to air Wednesday, ergo the airdate here is probably 2/11/1989. Also, Bedknobs and Broomsticks did air on Sunday 2/12, as per Tvtango.
How old were you when you recorded this? 2-3? I am surprised you knew how to work the VCR at that age! God, I wish Alan Thicke is still with us. He would have been perfect to interview for Hosts at Home. You could have talked to him about this, All new 3's a Crowd, Pictionary and a show he hosted in Canada called Face the Music!

We're the best of friends and we live in one society

That theme is pure gold
Very much so! Sung by Alan Thicke himself!
R.I.P. Alan Thicke and Todd Christensen
I loved this growing up
Ah, a Nestle Quik commercial, before they butchered it into “Nesquik”
Wasn't Todd Christensen one of the original co-hosts on AG before Larry Czonka took over?

Ladies and Gentleman, Your host on Animal Crack Up's, Alan Thicke!!
Based on the long-running TBS variety program, Waku Waku Dobutsu Land (Wild Wild Animal Land).
Just like how Vin Di Bona was inspired by a segment on "Fun TV with Kato-Chan and Ken-Chan" to create "America's Funniest Home Videos".

I hope you have any episodes of The Big Moment (also from Vin Di Bona and based on Happy Family Plan) in your library…
I never watch "Animal Crack Ups" on ABC TV, when I was young because I wasn't born in the late 1980s.
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT IN THE BEGINNING??
it went by so fast!!
We will see you again for the next edition of Animal Crack Up's, Good Bye!!
6:54 what was the point of his head turning into a balloon?
16:54 The singers look cross-dressed!
That looks like an original promo for Miss Switch to the Rescue!
I never saw this game show before
RIP Alan Thicke and Todd Christiensen
Does anybody know the name of the game show music at the staff roll end credits? The voiceover interrupts the background music!
Question: Who started the dad joke phenomenon?
Answer: Alan Thicke
They could've done better if they had announcer for the show like Ernie Anderson or Burton Richardson.
