Mice and Rats Fear Men
According to research published in Nature Methods, the smell of men produced a stress response in mice and rats, equivalent to forcing them to swim for three minutes. The scent of a female did not have similar effect. The effects were caused by chemosignals, that men emit from the armpit at higher concentrations than women. All mammals share the same chemosignals, so mice and rats smelled the presence of nearby male animal.
