Long time nemesis of my swing. Of late I've tried to concentrate on setting my left hand (left handed golfer) like I'm holding a tray of water. I like this tip and will give it try. Thank you for sharing.
@@lenframe hey mate fro. Australia. Alex has another video where he puts a tee peg into the back of his glove (where you Velcro) and at the top it should point up. Really Cool little visual aide.
Love this! I've been trying to do this but the tee peg is a great visual aid. I'm one of those mid-teen handicappers that can take the entire Winter off golf, get back to playing off 15 within a few rounds, then fail to improve further after 40 rounds during Summer. I wondered why I'm hitting 7/8 iron crisply to 160 yards, but only hitting 3 Wood 190, and I think this is why!
Excellent! I strengthen my grip last season and that artificially fixed this problem. This season I used the same grip with a bowed wrist and hit rocket pulls, good ball compression. I simply weakened my grip and now have much better contact evidenced by the straight marks on the sole of my club. Another gem Alex!
No PM at the US pga, very strong Aussie field with Cam Smith perhaps the strongest and MinWoo wanting bragging rights back from his sister Minjee... Will try this drill, always good to have a reference....
This changed my game in the last year, or so. I hit it further, and straighter. But, the main thing is my iron strikes are so much more consistent, and distance, and direction is so much more predictable. I used to sometimes shoot around par, if my timing and flippy strike was on that day. However, bad days were in the 80’s. And I had a lot of bad days. Now…. My last 6 rounds have been 71, 70, 72, 70, 74, and 72(par 72). My irons compress, and make that hissing sound, and my driver is dead on. People are fools if they don’t work on this til they get it right. It’s truly a game changer. One thing that clicked with me is to cock the wrists “back”, instead of cocking them “up”. This puts the right palm facing more towards the sky at the top(like holding a tray), and flattens or slightly bows the left wrist. This position lays the club down more, for a shallower approach, and also automatically squares the face so you can turn through the ball, without having to stall your rotation to flip the face closed.
Excellent video Alex on how to square the clubface! Over a year ago, I changed my takeaway to how your video is pointing out. The flat left wrist and bent back right wrist are maintained on the downswing, and at impact, I am in a knuckles down position with the left hand and a still bent back right wrist. I am seldom off the fairway or if so, not by much. This is with driver, fairway woods, and irons. Good Job Alex! Keep up the good work!
I'm beginning to think you are basing your channel on my problems! 😂 This is exactly what I need to focus on next, because I've been struggling with exactly these problems. Can't wait to hit the driving range and practice!
Alex, I’m watching slo mo video of my swing and I think this is exactly what I’m doing wrong. I’ve very recently been working on my wrist position. Hopefully this gets me back on track. Thanks!
I can relate to this, evening went to the range today on my lunch to work on the wrist bowing/position. I’ve been slicing a far bit lately which is hindering my scores. But I put a pink tee inside the back of my glove with the point on my wrist to stop bending my wrist toward the ground at the top. That said, your way makes more sense. Back to the range tomorrow. Pray for me this Friday ☀️⛳️🏌️♂️
I think my issue after having the lead wrist straight is keeping that pointy end of the T towards the target at impact. I noticed the transition in my downswing squares after impact. I tried turning my wrist earlier which caused a hook which is in the right direction, but also working on an inside out path.
That works well Alex, but then I still struggle with the moment of rolling over and sometimes result in the club face too much close. So at what point do you roll over?
Been trying this at home and it feels so alien as it's never really come to mind before. Look forward to trying this out on the course tomorrow. Great vid alex 👏👏
Hi Alex, I have been trying to flatten my wrist but in order to do so and keep my left arm straight I have to significantly reduce my backswing. Yes I hit it straighter but I feel like I'm losing a ton of power.....frustrating to say the least.
I would crush that course Alex! Nice flat wide fairways. Easy. Try playing on my course where you can hit it in the middle of the fairway and still have the ball above or below your feet.
And the last minute save is exactly what the pro said when I’ve been in lessons over the last year, basically my window of the club being square is to small, leading to my inconsistency, golf is hard
I don’t see a problem cupping the wrists for most amateurs at the top of the swing. The club face is too strong at the top with a flat wrist for most golfers and unless they rotate like a pro the club face will be closed at impact. I’ve always had a slight cup in my wrist at the top but it flattens as I come into impact naturally. In the 80’s and 90’s the cupped wrist was actively taught by coaches and no doubt it’ll do a full circle at some point.
I’m excited to watch the PGA championship this week, sad that Phil withdrew. Hoping it’s good coverage and not just tiger coverage. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy watching him play but if he’s not in contention focus on the ones that are. I think Justin Thomas or Spieth win it this week!
I tried keeping the club face more closed than usual today, not a big shift but one that kept me from feeling uncomfortable. My strikes seemed a bit more solid! I think even a small change may be helpful, so I will keep experimenting.
Will definitely give it a go, fed up of losing distance on drives when I know if I hit a good one it goes far, just weird how I can hit my 3 wood straight when I feel I do the same swing
*This WRIST move is key to SQUARING THE CLUB-FACE! Try this and promise this is the answer*
I actually did this with my driver and wow, what a difference…now I can drive it straight or even a baby draw…before it was a slice.
It is so damn frustrating when you start to notice this creeping into your game. Cupped wrist just feels so natural at times. Pain in the bum.
Great for me when I tried this drill

The secret to golf! Brilliant Alex

Great video this is so me I've started Boeing the wrist more and gained more distance straighter shots and better scored. I'm going for Shane lowry
EXACTLY what I am doing. Great training tip. Taking it to the range and practicing.
Very good Alex suits me. Like the tip, thank you

This is another brilliant video!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Realising this was the reason I went to single figures handicap. Great tip Alex. John Rahm for win!
Got any advice or videos to help straighten out a draw which causes my miss to be a hook. Im a 4 capp and all my misses are left.

This helps a lot. Justin Thomas !!!
No worries have a great week

My pro told me I need to stop cupping my wrist but find it so hard to do after 30yr of golf but I’m definitely going to try this
Yes Stephen let me know how you get on with this
Brooksie still top of my list.
Nice!!!
And the last minute save is exactly what the pro said when I’ve been in lessons over the last year, basically my window of the club being square is to small, leading to my inconsistency, golf is hard
SPIETH!! Career GS baby!!
Yes yes yes I think this is a great shout
True leakage kills my distance will give this drill a try
Is it a coincidence that, at the top, the tee peg is in line with your spine angle?
This is a great tip…IF you have a video camera doing down the line recording or a friend watching your swing.
You are preaching to the choir , that’s me, great tip. DJ will win PGA.
There are times when you have to be proactive not reactive in the golf swing and this is one of them.

Same!! I can’t wait to
Watch it all this weekend 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
That wrist position creates an uncomfortable tension in my forearm and also changes my backswing.
I tried keeping the club face more closed than usual today, not a big shift but one that kept me from feeling uncomfortable. My strikes seemed a bit more solid! I think even a small change may be helpful, so I will keep experimenting.
Are you sure it's not because I'm not holding my tongue just right?.. also Cameron Smith is going to win
This could have an impact also
PGA championship...has to be Jordan Spieth
Spieth
Career grand slam!!!
This is more all day long, try so hard to get rid and just can’t
Please try this and let me know how you do!!
Will definitely give it a go, fed up of losing distance on drives when I know if I hit a good one it goes far, just weird how I can hit my 3 wood straight when I feel I do the same swing
Or...take it back toe down at P2 and keep it closed (square)? I'll talk to you about this tomorrow 🤣
Look forward to catching up
Great video Alex , this was very interesting 🏌️♀️👍⛳️ speith or JT for the pga 👍⛳️🏌️♀️🏌️♀️
