  • The mysterious vanishing of teenager Jay Slater has now been linked to speculations involving a stolen Rolex watch.
Jay, a 19-year-old trainee bricklayer, disappeared on 17 June while on a trip to Tenerife for a three-day music festival with friends. After leaving his mates in the early hours of Monday to head to a secluded Airbnb with other revellers, he embarked on a perilous 11-hour walk back to his lodgings in the island's south.
The Civil Guard officially halted their search on Sunday after an extensive near two-week effort. Despite this, Jay's parents, Debbie and Warren, his brother Zak, and a circle of close family and friends are determined to continue their quest to locate the young man.
Alex Phillips speaks with former Met police detective Peter Bleksley about the latest surrounding the case.

@@user-pl4bm9tl7sI can see both sides of this argument.
And as a mother of 4 boys myself I can imagine what the family are going through.
With that in mind I made the decision to contribute.
And I did so seeing the other side of the argument and agreeing that it does look like the money may be being misused?
And this is the reason why I still choose to contribute.
I weighed up the facts that we have been presented as true and factual against what I know to be true and factual.
And the only thing I actually know as a fact is that there is a boy missing.
Now the reasons and circumstances of him being missing are endless.
And if a proper search is to be done?
Then £50,000 is a piss in the ocean against what is actually needed.
Launching a helicopter for an afternoon would deplete that and probably a lot more besides?
Now people are funny creatures (and I know because I am one🥴)
We seem to take great exception to be treated like fools.
      I know I definitely do!!!
And because of the lifestyle the boy chooses to live and the people he chooses to associate with are risky at best.
I can see why this would be significant in influencing people's decisions on whether they give or not.
It's like adding insult to injury as well as making fools of us IF there really is more to this story than meets the eye??
However I still only know factually that there is a boy missing.
      And the circumstances are undetermined.
And as much as I don't want to be made a fool of.
On this occasion, actually it's preferable.
Because for me not to be made a fool of, would mean that the whole thing has ultimately had the worst possible outcome.
And from one mother to another I sincerely want him found safe.

I'm not saying there is no need for a deal of attention, just wonder why, when the other one was missing for days, the media ignored it? His parents must have gone through he'll for those days too. Jay was massive news from day one, another kid was not given any attention. None of this case makes any sense what so ever. I've been a police officer for 21 years. I'm a DS in MCU, which for those don't know, it's a branch off of CID, otherwise known as the Major Crime Unit. I've dealt with many MISPERS, some are known to us and are regularly reported missing and we invariably locate them pretty quickly. Others are high risk MISPERS, usually because of mental health needs, medical needs, they may have absconded from hospital, a psyche ward, have suicidal ideations, are minors whom always take priority, or there is the potential for third party involvement. When a person is reported as a MISPER, call handlers in ACR/FCR will seek to establish a timeline, questions will be asked such as, what was said person wearing, how was their behaviour prior to going missing, do they have any medical requirements or conditions that could be viewed as important, could they have gone to a friend or relatives house, is there any reason why they may have wondered off. It'll then be categorised as a priority job and passed to district officers whom will being searching for said person. NPAS, Drone officers, dog handlers, will seek to search local areas, woodland, main arterial routes in and out of where they were last seen. If an address is highlighted or person of interest, an SIO will be briefed and said person's loved one's will be allocated a FLO. The last person to see and or speak with that person will be spoken to and a first account taken. This information will then be reviewed and scrutinised. If said person isn't located within 24 hours, that's when we'll start worrying and stepping up a gear. Social media appeals, local media appeals, signs of life checks will be made, ie bank account checks to ascertain whether or not their debit card has been used, cell site data, and something we call a Shpock, which is never undertaken lightly but it allows us to locate a mobile telephone very quickly, amongst a whole host of other intelligence. Any addresses potentially linked will immediately be isolated a scene put in place, same goes for vehicles that may come to our attention.
When a person goes missing and third party involvement is present, it's rarely a stranger, and is invariably always linked to a person known to our MISPER, loved one, former partner, current partner, friend or associate. These people will always find themselves being spoken to at length, with any details, information provided, cross referenced and checked. We have a saying in the job, ABC of policing, ACCEPT NOTHING, BELIEVE NOBODY, CHALLENGE EVERYTHING.
As a Dad and a human being, I find this case very troubling and heartbreaking. As a DS, I am not buying any of the details or first account information, that was provided by Lucy Mae, nor Brad. As for the two males whom were occupying said Airbnb, from day one I've suspected they're linked, with Lucy being complicit in such way or another.
All of them need to be interviewed under caution by Lancashire Police, their devices seized, ECU investigating their banking transactions, source of funds and a few other things that if I was SIO, I would be requesting my team to obtain as soon as possible.
As it stands, I don't personally think Jay is alive, I think something sinister has happened to him, and my first thoughts are Lucy, Brad and the two Asian chaps.

    • @Maria19107
      @Maria19107 28 дней назад +9

I think it could be something to do with Audemars Piguet watch that Jay claimed to have stole.. perhaps he went to that accommodation so far away with the two men to get away from the scene where he had just committed a robbery? Perhaps the two men were going to buy it off him? Or they stole the watch off Jay? Or the other way around- maybe Jay waited for the two guys to fall asleep then Jay's left in a hurry with the watch and the money. Hence why he was deliberately going "off road" walking fast in the wrong direction, away from where there was busses, people and off the main road incase they went looking and found him? Perhaps the two guys did find him and killed him? I think Brad and Lucy aren't being 100% honest about anything as they're afraid to implicate themselves into their own criminal activities I.e.) purchasing drugs abroad for their own use on holiday or the fact they all went to tenerife to take drugs, hang around with a bunch of criminals etc.
I just can't believe a 19 year old lad goes abroad for the first time as an adult Goes around robbing people, hanging around with drug dealers and was clearly up to no good! What a stupid lad! He seemed to think he was invisible to the law or other criminals (in my opinion)

@@Maria19107 I am not buying the whole story surrounding a stolen watch Maria. No valuable or tangible evidence has been presented in regards to this alleged theft. The only people whom have made this claim, are Lucy and Brad, citing Jay sent them a Snapchat message indicating he was fearful and felt unsafe. No screenshot or evidence of this supposed message has been presented, thus I would take it with a pinch of salt, and go with the assumption that until proven otherwise, this is unlikely to be true. I personally feel that Lucy and Brad, are essentially trying to build a story around something sinister, paving the way for local police in Spain, to have a possible motive for how and why Jay has possibly met a gruesome end. I personally think Lucy and Brad are complicit, and have concocted a false narrative as a means to remove or displace suspicion from themselves.

    • @Maria19107
      @Maria19107 28 дней назад

@ste9071 that's a good theory actually that Brad × Lucy are trying to spin a false narrative...
The only reason I believe there is any credibility in the watch theory is I found the snapchat online (obviously it could be potentially edited/fake) but it looks legit to me.. the only thing that I don't understand is IF and why the person who has had it stolen hasn't come forward- unless the person who was in possession of the watch didn't get hold of it legally either.
Something is wrong here as to why Jay would travel so far with two men he doesn't really know. By the time he arrived there, jay was only at the accommodation for 90 minutes before he left.. he quite clearly didn't go there to sleep or nap like the Qassim has stated. It's honestly like absolutely nobody involved in this case is being 100% honest. Brad and Lucy are hiding something but I'm unsure of what.

I don’t feel Jay was ever in the area his phone last pinged ! 1. They used sniffer dogs if he had been there they would have picked up his scent but they didn’t…2. The picture on steps of Airbnb you can’t see his face so it could have been anyone and it looks like there are 3 feet in the picture whom does the other foot belong to…3. The last person to see him was the landlady why didn’t he ask her to get him a taxi ? Why didn’t she offer him water as you can see in the videos at the festival he was off his face so I’m sure he wasn’t a picture of health next morning…4… The guy that booked the Airbnb said he knew Jay he was helping him out as he had no where to go? He had an apartment not far from the festival! The guy then said he didn’t know him well only through friends and that Jay was alive when he arrived at the Airbnb and alive when he left !!! Strange thing to say !!! Lucy, Brad, the guys from Airbnb and landlady all need interrogated and investigated throughly as in their bank accounts, phones etc … As a parent I would have been searching that whole island and going round with his picture to see if anyone had seen him…Nothing adds up at all and as they say there is no smoke without fire !!!

@jeancunningham8013 I agree with what you mean about sniffer dogs, except I did see a video showing the terrain and they were explaining that not all areas can be searched by the dogs because of how dangerous it is for them, with unstable paths, holes, rocks ect .
With the last snapchat photo he took at the accommodation you can see that the hand with a cigarette is white.. where we know the 2 men he went to the accommodation with were black, so if the case is that Jay wasn't there.. that implies another person to have taken that photo of themselves holding the cigarette. I don't see what the motive would be for his friends, the land lady and the two guys to say he was there if he was not? We know his mobile phone was there in that location because of where it pinged.. I can't think of why everyone would be in on it, especially the land lady?
If Jay never ended up in Masca, then where did he go? There's alot of CCTV cameras in the area the rave was.. surely some type of CCTV would have picked him up at some point after the rave..
What's your thoughts on the motive?

I bet Peter hasn't even heard of the nature reserves, such as Punta Del Teno, or beautiful, historic towns and villages, such as La Oratava, scattered around the diverse and stunning volcanic landscape of Tenerife. Dismissing the whole place just because of a few idiots - who aren't even Canarian - just makes you look like a thick, Sun-reading bigot ... but I don't genuinely think Peter is that type of guy. If someone was arranging a funeral but were skint then you got a bank loan or the like. You certainly wouldn't make it public knowledge that you were skint and ask complete strangers for money. . it's akin to begging on the street ( how embarrassing ) Second : Who are these stupid people giving money on line to people they don't even know and have no idea how it will be spent? I stopped giving to any charities years ago when a friend of mine who worked for one of the big ones as an event organiser was offered a new " company " car every year instead of every 5 years. Yea it came from his phone, and yes the phone apparently had low battery, but nothing here makes any sense in regards to why anyone would wonder off into the overgrowth when basically in the middle of nowhere, sounds almost as if he was running away from someone or something and ran in said direction and hurt himself in the process.
The only thing that comes to mind for the reason why would be:
    1: Bad Trip.

I have intentionally missed out alot of information in my other comment, particularly in relation to techniques and investigatory methods that we can utilise. Any other DS reading this will know exactly what I'm referring, particularly relating to cell site triangulation, movement of devices and other devices checking in with the same CCT and travelling with Jay's device. We can also ascertain whether or not his phone was manually powered off and shut down or whether it was indeed a dead battery. If I was the SIO in this job, I would be throwing everything at finding that phone, and obtaining the cell site data for each and every phone connected to that tower at the time Jay was reported missing and backtracking several hours to when his device checked in with that cell tower before it dropped from the network. Any other devices connected at that time, I'd want to know who those devices belong to, their IP addresses, telephone numbers, and from there cross reference them against one another to ascertain any potential links.
