Mr. Crane is more complex than a beast could ever be. In addition to his directness and his courage, he appears to have another subtle gift of delving into the person being questioned. I am impressed by how he made Jill reveal whose side she is really on, on the record. I suspect Jill will wish she had turned her allegiance to America and the people she is supposed to be working to 'protect' when Lady Justice drops her gavel? ... Hopefully, in my lifetime?
I grew up idolizing the FBI agents I knew (my best friend's father and his co-workers) in the 1970s who were fighting organized crime in Las Vegas. Today, as a retired federal LEO, I am disgusted with what the FBI has become. This smug POS should be fired along with everyone in FBI management. The only other option is to defund and disband the entire agency.
What you didn't know back in the 1970s was that the FBI was ignoring or aiding organized crime in many places. They went after the mod in Las Vegas because they weren't paying big enough kickbacks to federal politicians. Federal law enforcement agencies have always been corrupt as their very existence is a violation of the US constitution.
