Stumbled upon clips of this FOREIGNER production. As I know a little something about the play, watching what goes on here with this rather amazing cast came as quite a shock. I'd have thought they'd have gotten more out of the material, found the storyline and timed Larry Shue's well written jokes. Am at a loss as to why neither storyline or timing has been worked out. I'm watching one funny moment after another fly by making absolutely no impact at all on the audience. It's rather shocking.

I'm a little late on the bandwagon but I totally agree. I started watching this production mid-way through the run of one that I'm stage-managing, and I may be biased but ours is just funnier. I was really disappointed in a lot of the direction; Betty wasn't yelling her lines to Charlie in the beginning, Ellard was all over the place, Owen isn't scary, and Charlie just… is still continuing to fall flat. I don't find him funny, and I think that people are laughing just because it's Broderick. I find his manner of speaking trite. The one thing the show has going for it is the set is really well done. Other than that, it's been disappointing so far.

I'm in rehearsals for this show right now...I'm playing Owen....I don't like the way this actor plays him...he's not scary enough..we apparently have very different versions of him lol
