Great job Christian! You nailed that presentation and hopefully people can see the huge potential of regen network as the carbon markets take off.

What an amazing use of the block chain! Finally a way to incentiveize ecologically sustaining methods of doing business. In a world where productivity and profit are more important than sustainability a system to reward those who are putting planet over profit is necessary for survival. An amazing team with amazing credentials and what a white paper. Mahalo nut loa! 🤙🌴🌊🌺🏖

Thanks everybody! It's time farmers get paid for positive ecological impact. As soon as they do, this planet could very rapidly change. We're doing the best we can to make that a reality.

How can they work with the European Union? Do you have farmers there? Hopefully something we can share here with French farmers that could motivate a change.

@@emil_rainbow so it's about the Blockchain part, good I thought maybe you got a valid argument instead of judging a still pretty young technology by its absolute First implementation Bitcoin, which I assume is what you did. Now I'm gonna ride home cause you know I never bought a car cause 150 years ago when they first one came around I thought it won't be worth it and I never changed my mind.

Is there an inherent absolute need to use blockchain? We are in a climate crisis. Not sure why we must use blockchain other than it is the fashion these days, doesn't seem to be sustainable and worth the benefit. Transparency can be attained in other ways, traditional means are nothing bad.

1st and 2nd generation blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum indeed are energy intensive since they are powered by the Proof of Work (PoW) protocol to maintain consensus, but 3rd generation blockchains like Cosmos and the Tindermint platform (which I understand Regen is built atop of) solve this with the Proof of Stake (PoS) protocol, which replaces computationally heavy number crunching with a clever staking mechanism.

Adding to J. Hoffmann's answer above. Yes, this is a specific application where blockchain adds a lots of value by storing the created impact in a traceable and tamper-proof way. If you imagine one direct transaction (one company "supporting" one farmer) this might not be that obvious, but imagine an entire market place for this type of impact credits. Such a market place could offer impact credit combinations, derivates, be mixed and matched, all while staying 100% traceable and verifiable. That's the type of market place I want to see thriving, regenerating the planet. Check also the guys over at Proof of Impact. Awesome work.

As mr. Hoffmann said...PoS. Does not consume energy, and blockchain is the only way to have a fully transparent system. I mean for now, if somebody comes forward with a better alternative thats great, more ways to have a healthy planet in a transparent and verifiable way. :)

Blockchain is simply superior don't let yourself blend by some of the scaling problems etc. that some first generation networks have it's evolving faster than you can imagine
