I've gone up to 2 months without cleaning any ash out of the firebox and not stirring it either. But it probably depends on the wood I'm burning. It does tend to get crusty due to lack of stirring, I just watch the ash and make sure it doesn't get up near the panels, I've never shoveled everything out and tried sifting out the coals, never really had the need to. Would still have to be emptied, would just take longer if it held more. I’ve gone over two weeks with no issues on my G7000, just easier and faster to do it weekly.

Heating up the seams of the air channels helps soften the creosote that causes them to stick

If the engineers would have just made the firebox 3-6 inches taller, you wouldn't need to empty the ashes out as often, right?
