  • I thought this was an Apple Banana (Manzano)Tree. Was I wrong?
    Tree Appearance: The Manzano banana plant, like other banana trees, has a stout pseudostem (a cluster of tightly packed leaf bases) and large, elongated leaves. It typically grows to a height of 10 to 20 feet (3 to 6 meters) or more, creating a lush and tropical canopy.
    Fruit Shape and Appearance: The Manzano banana is characterized by its small to medium-sized fruit, which has a distinctive appearance. It is shorter and plumper than the common Cavendish banana and often resembles a chubby, miniature banana. The skin is thick and turns from green to bright yellow when ripe. It may have dark spots on the skin when fully mature.
    Fruit Taste: Manzano bananas are renowned for their exceptionally sweet and rich flavor. They have a delightful tropical taste with notes of apple, strawberry, and pineapple. The flesh is cream-colored and has a smooth, creamy texture, making it distinct from other banana varieties.
    Uses: Manzano bananas are usually eaten fresh as a snack or added to fruit salads. They are a popular choice for making smoothies, blending into milkshakes, or using in dessert recipes due to their unique and sweet taste.
    Growth Habit: The Manzano banana tree exhibits a typical banana growth habit with large, arching leaves and a central pseudostem. Each plant can produce multiple clusters or “hands” of fruit that hang from the pseudostem.
    Manzano bananas are highly sought after for their extraordinary sweetness and tropical flavor, making them a favorite banana variety in many regions. Their sweet and creamy texture, combined with their unique taste, distinguishes them from other banana varieties.

      @@Maria-tq8ck about 10 to 11 months if they are placed in a place where the soil is good and they are getting sufficient water. I have always used my lawn clippings to help to enrich the soil.

    Variegated bananas are white striped and will not be confused. Many banana leaves have the red spots or stripes and is normal.
    Crazy how hard it is to really ID these fruit. How the fingers attach is also an identifier. I’ve seen the difference, but have no help for ya as what matches to what. 😂
    Have a blessed day!

    Paul... I have 100 namwa bananas. Forget the banana... look at the lower trunk for a red flush. Manzano don't have the red flush but all namwas do.

    10:15 that red in the leaf is normal for bananas, it’s only red in the leaf like that when they are young. It’s not variegation I don’t think. The cavendish does it as well

    One sure way to identify Dwarf Namwah is they have a pinkish hue when their younger on the underside of the leaves right along the leaf stem on both sides. They also sometimes show a little pink when young on the pups pstem.

    I grow dwarf Nam Wah, Manzano , and Santa Catarina. Paul, your bananas look to me like Santa Catarina, the dwarf Brazilian, known here in Hawaii as Hawaiian Apple Banana.

    At least they taste great, so you didn't totally waste your money. Can't you just leave the rack on the tree and just pull the ripe ones off as they get fully ripe?

    • @FruitfulTrees
      @FruitfulTrees  2 месяца назад

      Yes you can do that but the full rack will become ripe within a few days

    It's not variegation , those brown spots usually indicate that the banana tree is getting a lot of water or nutrients
