- Have you ever wondered what it means to be a good person? Here it is...
QUESTION FOR THE COMMENTS:
Time to brag on yourself!
What's something you did recently that reflected inner-goodness?
HERE'S HOW:
Bring your best to each and every task today.
Even to the small and menial tasks.
Listen well to others today.
When faced with decisions ask yourself this question:
"What would a good person do in this situation?"
"What would God do?"
And seek to do that.
Become New is here to help you grow spiritually one day at a time.

Something that I always try to do is encourage people. Usually, this happens on social media. If someone is down or not sure about what they are doing, I do my best to encourage. It is such a simple thing. All it costs is a little time and thought. I think if more people would encourage others, this would be a better world.
Love that @@Julie-gv9xe Way to go! Thanks for sharing...
Sometimes the opportunities to live out “Dikaiosune” (new word for me!) can feel overwhelming and potentially paralyzing because there is so much need around me, as there is for all of us. I try to be intentional about starting the day and asking God to order my steps and give me one or two things in my path that I can do to reflect the love of Jesus. Sometimes those things are anonymous, because God is my audience, not man.
thanks @@wendyellis2181 great reflection and great advice in asking God to 'order my steps'. Thanks for sharing
We purchased two winter coats for refugee children living in Philadelphia and visited an elderly woman wracked by pain. We kissed her on the forehead and prayed for her.
May I choose to live in such a way today that I excel rather than just going through the motions.
Today is my 4th radiation treatment of 16. Even though I’ve been feeling pretty drowsy, I will “walk briskly” into the waiting room I will share with 3 or 4 sad gals, and look for their eyes and smile. Let your kingdom come, God, even there.
Thanks for sharing, Annie
Go Annie!
Amen. God bless you and strengthen you
@@janetf.7844 Thanks, sis!
What a champ! God bless you and those you will be with today!
Brilliant!!! 🎉❤
I am having a bad patch of depression at the moment which has wiped out my energy, but I'm trying to focus on what I can do rather than what I can't. Sending messages to friends and family to encourage and support them is one thing I have been doing, it helps to take my focus off my own challenges and to feel more connected to others.
Thanks for sharing, Sarah. Praying for you now. Holy Spirit, come and fill Sarah right where she is. Pour in your light and your peace. Speak to her heart and encourage her spirit. We lift our eyes to you now.
That helps me too when I’m depressed…doing something good for someone other than myself. Hang in there!!
As we work with immigrant families in Silicon Valley, we commit to justice and righteousness for all. This was such an encouraging word in our urban setting. Help us Lord to stand with the people you love more than we do!
Lovely teaching today. And, I found and watched "Living" on Netflix. Something I never do first thing in the morning. I was inspired and so enjoyed the film. Thanks.
❤Absolutely the Best John Ortberg EVER!!! Watched it 3 times before i shared it with my Recovery Tribe. Brilliant
Loved it! I’m walking briskly with a big smile on my face! 😊
good morning ☀️ Matthew 6:33 is my go to, how I live each day. Every meeting, dr visit, testing, debt, car…He has surpassed my needs when I focus my heart and actions on him 🙏🏻💕🍃 although still a (WIP) work in progress, I know the day to day miracles because God.
DIKAIOSYNE- I am going to come back to this video over and over and over.. AND, think about the term almost every day. Thank you !!
Thank you for the bigger picture on righteousness, good justice the blessed people of God hinder and thirst for, Matthew 5:6. The story of Mr. Zombie is so contemporary- from Willard to Aristotle, and Tolstoy. The blessed shall be satisfied happily as we swing with His inner righteousness. Thanks John.
Thank you for connecting the concepts of righteousnous, justice and the liberation of humanity from oppression. The other day, a driver rolled past a stop sign and almost hit me and my dog. Instead of getting angry, which I have done on more than one occassion :( , I backed up and waved her on with a smile.
I've got to find this movie, "Living"! Sounds delightful!
....."But I said it first!".....Hahaha! I relate to this! So delightful. I had a blast visiting a lonely widow putting together a puzzle. Life is good! I want more!
Thanks so much, John. You encourage me to LIVE my life, one day at a time. Hod bless you today.
I deeply desire to live out of inner goodness. Sometimes I do. Christ in me is my only hope. Yesterday I gave focused attention to someone who needed it. Small thing but important thing.
The world's joy is temporary as I have experienced at work, one day up and one day down. But God's joy for us is unchanging and forever. Thank you John for reminding me not to be a zombie.
the no-zombie zone
The kingdom of God. Righteousness, less about self, more about serving others.
Thanks for the invitation to ponder inner goodness! I participated with my Discipleship Class to send cards in the mail to some people in distress , some of whom we don’t know personally.
Thank you so much for putting these videos together, I'm so thankful that I found them!
This teaching has been so helpful for me, and I have watched it a couple of times now, and I'm sure I will watch over again 😊
Thank you!
Thank you, John. You have encouraged me to hunger and thirst for righteousness.
So very encouraging and unpacked beautifully! Found episode on website when I couldn't find on YT. John fanned the flame to want to live with inner goodness.
I took my co-worker’s favorite cookies into work last week and she devoured them that day. Praying and checking in daily with older friend who’s husband cut his fingers badly. Her family is helping out, and I'm in the wings waiting to find out how I too can come alongside them. 0:04
Ah, LOVE these. Way to go Patty!
👍
When I think of the word righteousness I think of what John said a while ago, “do the next right thing”. So when I get stuck in my day those are the words that come to mind. “Do I go up to the hospital to visit my sister or do I go home and do the laundry and make dinner?” Of course I went to the hospital, it was the next right thing. ❤
Love this so much! I saw the movie already but now I appreciate it so much more. A bunch of us will cover this on a Zoom Life Group tonight! Can’t wait!
❤
Once again, thank you John for guiding me through to a better understanding of this passage. I'm so grateful that He holds me on my journey of learning how to decrease so he can increase in me. Blessings to you, Tim, and the entire team.
So encouraging! Thank you
Great message!
So encouraged to live righteously, now that I have a fuller meaning of the word. Thank you!
I'm HAPPY! Inside & out, JUST because Jesus Christ is my Friend! HalleluYAH!!!
I love this….”come to life today” Thank you so much for this teaching🙏🏼♥️(found the movie ! I can’t wait to watch it)
My morning inspiration & way to start thw day! I share each message with 2 people each day & 1 friend looks forward to the message! Thank you John & team for your dedication!
Man! You guys are crushing it!! Such a challenge and encouragement:)
Holy holy holy Lord God Almighty... thank you Lord for bringing John to us each day and have him model for us the things that he is teaching. Making a delicious beef vegetable soup today, for my family, will be my righteousness today.😋🙏🏻🕊
This is a terrific lesson, maybe I should write that word (if I can spell it!) on my mirror to remind me every morning. (Just a technical point: I found I had to listen more than watch because much of it was blurry & out of focus)
The actual focus of the video seems to match my ability to grasp everything in this message.
haha that's amazing (also, sorry about that!)
My husband of 45 years had his last treatment in a clinical trial for stage 4 prostate cancer. We will get results at the end of February, which so far have been quite promising that he may be cancer free. And this week we were told his heart health is worse now than before his 9/20/2022 bypass surgery. He is tired and weary of this long siege. And I am sad, he is as you describe zombie like or walking dead, please pray his love for God will return and bless those near to him to see him trust God and live fully His for the kingdom.
I love the regular reminders and calls to consider the good life, meaning and purpose. And now righteousness and justice. Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you John!
I stood up in a meeting and thanked the person who had given his time to present for us. And god helped me make up a little rhymed verse for him.
John is an excellent teacher!
moving story. Really appreciate these talks
Ooooo thank you, life in its abundance wonderful
Yes it is Jackie - so glad you enjoyed it! Bucky
Thanks for another great message. Also, I took your word for it and watched the movie, living on Netflix. What an awesome movie with great message and acting.
Love this teaching. Going to share with a friend who's really into philosophy. I think she'd love it too!
Thanks, John... what a great lesson. Dikaiosune... I will seek to help you if I can.
Excellent message from John. Still seeing video (focus) issues. Please keep up the good work!
I love that movie too!
Gosh that’s a hard one 🤔 Does allowing my niece to help me by doing something for me that I am quite capable of doing myself, but she seems to think could be dangerous for her 77 year old aunt to do?
Thank you John...want to go to see that movie Living
Beautiful🙏🏻
Do the next thing right!
Even Dr. Willard doesn't describe Dikiasune so well...excellent, just excellent. (I'm sure you're working on it, but you gots to fix that focus issue with your camera--distracting)
Righteousness=The manafestastion of Jesus Christ in the character of an individual.
You should have asked us to watch this first. Now we don't need to. Haha
SEEK and you will find.
Question : when John says, “God’s love and presence is insurmountable in this world, “ what does he mean? 🤔
❤
