Even 7 years ago ? Ya did a good job. Impressive that, in my experience, you are the only one of the on-line "teachers" to explain the WHY of using the corner of a fan vs the tip of the skinny, pointy brush for leaves. "Loading the brush" was a new word for me...but you've covered that one too. Careful. You could become a pretty good teacher. Thanks
I have to add, Michael as I watch you put the paint on those trees you send me into a different dimension. You are one and only Michael the great. I kid you not, you are really the Mozart of the art world. Thanks for being whom you are. Have a drink on me !!
You sir are a steely eyed missile man!......I can't believe your giving us such amazing instruction with out charging 150$ per DVD like these artist here in America!.......just awesome!
Christopher Lee, you are absolutely correct. He is giving us such a wonderful gift by teaching us what we would have to pay a lot for! I simply could not afford such an education in art since I am currently a nursing student. Painting relaxes me, but instructions like these will help me produce paintings that give me a sense of accomplishment: if that makes any sense.
I personally think you SHOULD charge Michael, how otherwise are you monetising all your efforts, you are giving away a LOT for nothing, or am I missing something? It need not be extortionate, bitesize for free, couple of quid maybe to watch the whole video, will generate another income stream for you, or are you so loaded you don't need it lol! Most artists need all the income they can get, especially in the UK where art is so unsupported. What do you think? Love your techniques btw
I absolutely agree. It's beyond awesome he's giving such great lessons for free, but I know many, including myself, would feel they got their money's worth even if they did pay for lessons like this.
Michael you are too generous to detail the depths for the learners where they may make mistakes, to understand that you should be an intellectual too. I appreciate you. keep going
You are absolutely amazing. I can watch you paint all day long. I haven’t painted in 22 yrs so I’m working up my courage and you inspire me. I would like to thank you for sharing your talent with us. As I am practically deaf your captioning means the world to me. You are a wonderful teacher, explaining it all as you go. Thank you again.
I think I've watched all the artists out there. None compare to your perfection. The details are amazing. I watch for hours, preparing myself to follow.
I've just started oil painting again after a 6-year break, and I appreciate your generosity with sharing your tips and techniques! I am amazed by your work, and it inspires me to give it a shot. Thank you!
The way you explain step by step.. is amazing and you have selected perfect back ground music really matches.Thank you very much for sharing your talent Michael.
God Bless you brother! Your voice soothing, your instructions crisp and your paintings are magic. All in All Just Perfect! Lot to learn on my end. Thanks!
I am absolutely hypnotized. The tecnique is so sharp, truely impressive and ispirational. And painting it straight on a white canvas. I must try and do the same ! And uniquely made pattern brushes. All the best, man . All the best to you
Thank you for another great video! I love watching them. My request: can you teach us a bit more about creating distance with your trees. Can you demonstrate mixing the desaturated colors and painting distant details. Thanks :)
Good morning thanks you for your valutable advice and moments of peace that you gives us watching your video n you are a good person and a great artist thanks you again
Such an amazing painting. Thanks for sharing your talents. Your details go above and beyond. Awesome job! I so enjoy learning how you mix colors and paint all the details.
I find your work so amazing and thoroughly infuriatingly your meticulous attention to detail is to die for. I particularly loved those mountains you did in one of your paintings actually took my breath away. Thank you, Michael, for your wonderful sharing of your divine talent.
I've been trying out Bob Ross painting but I just don't feel like I'm really painting. I am left handed and have discovered that i often have to turn my canvas upside down to do techniques that right handed people do right side up. Now I'm trying to paint trees with a fan brush so I came to this video to get an idea of a good technique. Michael is fun to watch and soooo talented.
Your landscapes are capturing. Thank you for the tutorials. I find them constructive in the aspects of layering and detail without taking weeks, but instead days.
Thank you for sharing your experience and passion with us. Your videos are done so well I can almost believe that I can do it, for my own enjoyment of course. Love your work.
Good morning Michael, I have learned sooo much with your tutorials THANK YOU!!! I'll be waiting for thats coming up LOVE your work. Greetings from South America-ECUADOR
Micheal sir... You are my role model l am learning from your beautiful tutorials....thank you... Mr.Santosh Kamble from INDIA... Maharashtra ...pandharpur
Hola...adoro ver sus videos...son una barbaridad...me encanta ver los arboles y el agua...le salen q son una locura...lastima q no este en castellano...Felicitaciones Michel...Desde Rosario Argentina...!!!
Holy crap man. I am just a beginner yo!- this is for Leonardo Da Vinci professor graduates to improve on. looks more real life than a photo. master of incorporate light while explaining it all out with examples is just plain brilliant man. -Aloha from Honolulu
I do use the fan brush myself but when I use it I use it just for the grass I just flick it or use it to blend I like what you did with the fan brush I use it to for my recent landscape painting you just got subbed
I truly appreciate your lessons. This one had me waving my hands around the iPad screen like an orchestra conductor while you sped up the painting of individual leaves. I so need this guiding image and your teaching skill, tone of voice, pace, manner, and choice of descriptive words and proper names helps me a great deal. I benefit from both the visual and the spoken word. Reading is good but you have such a great manner that I believe I'll count you as one of my major teachers at this early stage in my work. I'm 71 resuming painting, first exposure to artist-painting was my mom since infancy on through childhood, adolescence, adulthood. I find it is phenomenal how her words and images come back to me as "commentary" and "inserted observations" as you talk. If you were abrupt, coarse, or ratcheted suddenly I would lose the dual "viewing of you/listening to you" + my inner voices reinforcing and elaborating. You are quite the catalyst, and your generosity is apparent and appreciated. Glenn
I love watching your paintings progress and have yet to try this style of painting. I use acrylics (I hope that's not a swear word here lol) so I might try with acrylics first. I also love the relaxing music that goes with your vids! Wow, so chilled out now. Super. Thanks.
amei seu canal, espetacular, sem dúvida gostaria de ter um quadro desses em minha sala ...... é lindo, inspirador e traz uma tranquilidade em face a beleza da obra. Parabéns....
Michael James Smith Art - Do you have any videos on base coats please? Your initial layer? I want to paint the perfect realistic tree but I want to see in a video, how you do the base coat for a tree or a series of trees, thanks
I was viewing #83 and enjoying it so. You went to lunch and sadly, I couldn't find where you continued after lunch. Is there a way I can view that. I absolutely adore your style of painting. You are so inspiring. Thank you.
