I grew up in Munich, Bavaria, and as a child the Isetta was a common aspect. I never got into one, so, now I took a ride in it, thanks, beautiful car, the engine is well known to me, from the 250 BWM motorcycle, used for my driver´s licence test for "heavy motorcycles", good ol´times, thanks for the video!
The original Iseatta was designed by Iso in Italy, it was also built under license in France by Velam with the same two stroke engine than the Iso version. BMW versions like this one were not quie the same, different side and rear windows, and a 4 stroke engine derived from BMW motorcycles...
I remember a lady had one of these parked down the street. As a practical joke my uncle and three of his friends picked it up and put it on her front porch.
I love these ride-alongs. Such an immersive experience. It did sound pretty cool with that sporty muffler. I think if I were the owner I'd ask you to work on the motor mounts next...
There is no getting away from the vibration in these cars. The single cylinder engine will jar you to the bone. Pretty typical of the Isetta experience. Nice video and nice car!
Oh that was just terrific! I so enjoyed that. From the best ever colour scheme to the faded memory of a ride I never took before this. Ah but I do remember the engine noise. Is it a 2 stroketurbo? I see someone saying single cylinder. Well done and "thanks for the memory." Who sang that around about 1958?
Very entertaining video. You can feel the love you have for cars. I stumbled in after seeing my youngest drive one in Forza, went in search of a video of a real-life Isetta. Delightful!
I need to know what this is ... so I was sitting with my brother in our yard and randomly on the road I saw a tiny ass taxi thing fuckin zoom by like wtf is it and where do I get one 😂
Wonderful things. Surely someone should be making replicas by now. I know they tried with the Messerschmitt in the UK one time, but these, the Schmitts, and Heinkels are absolutely the dogs bollocks...
I think this is an early 1957 model (tohough it may have been sold later). I own a 1957 US model with sliding windows. From 1957 on, sliding windows ("Isetta Export" type) seem to have been the successor type of your Isetta.
THE LAST BUBBLE WINDOW ISETTAs LEFT THE BMW FACTORY IN MARCH OF '57 . BACK IN THE DAY THEY OFTEN TITLED NEW CARS AS THE YEAR THEY WERE SOLD . THIS OFTEN LED TO DISCREPANCIES OF 1 OR EVEN 2 YEARS . THE MUFFLER IS AN AFTERMARKET CREATION .
That looks like a brand new automobile, undercarriage and all. Beautiful example. I have always had a passion for these cars. I have a 1958 Harley-Davidson Servi-car. This 58 Isetta would look good sitting next to it in the garage.
Y'know the fact that the Isetta is as cute as anything in the first place really seems counter-intuitive to the bubble window being "much more pleasing to look at" but you are right, it IS more pleasing to the eye. Seems strange to me that such an iconic and instantly recognizable machine can look so different. Dare I say they may have sold more Isettas if they'd built more bubble windows?
David M Relax man, I was making a hypothetical argument that wasn't really all that serious. They wouldn't have sold more Isettas because Isettas were from the age of massive chrome and huge fins in the US (those were practical), that was the type of car that sold then, and in big numbers, not cute little micro cars. The age of the economy car didn't really start in the US until around the first oil embargo and the age of the microcar may not have arrived.... although if the Smartcar is considered a microcar perhaps it finally has.
Nice car! The steering wheel should be cream colored to be correct. Your muffler isn't the original design but looks nice just the same. Some early '57 Isetta's had the '56 bubble window body like yours but it's definitely not a '58.
Arms treaty after World War 2; the Saab is the best known today. I notice your Isetta has twin sun visors, the VW Beetle didn't get a passenger visor as standard until 1960...

That's a '56. That was the last year of the bubble window.
I remember a lady had one of these parked down the street. As a practical joke my uncle and three of his friends picked it up and put it on her front porch.
My auntie had one of these in the 70's. It felt dangerous noisy and exciting to ride in then, and looking at one now, I can see why !!
Don't forget they were designed in the time that the average car could only travelled at 60mph max.
This is most beautiful Isetta I have ever seen! I own Isetta of exactly the same type (1955.), but not half so beautiful!
Proper Bubble cars had three wheels only, not four. though your they built them with four, not considered the Original.

IsettasRock yep!
Yes there is, convert to electric. these cars are perfect for that.
This was an Isetta adopting the Heinkel/Trojan side and rear windows. The Heinkel was a much better looking car.
Just had a trip down memory lane. Thank you for taking me for a spin.
Thanks mite for sharing and taking us for beautiful ride on this sweet little car.
Very nice video. Love the bubble windows.
That’s the coolest small car ever
Great Italian technology and design
100% fun :)
wheel dimensions not need although beautiful ©
antique general electric vertical dashboard aesthetic ©
ADORABLE! Mignon! Super! Pourquoi ce si réussi concept n'a-t-il pas été repris?
il a été repris et en électrique! La Microlino sera commercialisée cette année en allemagne
Amazing micro car, too bad they don' t produce this little piece of Art on wheels anymore.Greetings from Brazil.

I wonder how many Isettas were actually produced by Iso Rivolta.
It's so tiny... even tinier than a smart car.

I'd love to see that old volvo pv in the backround. What ever happened to that 140 you did a video of as well?
i just subscribed cant belive i didnt see this video lol
Isetta is what made the BMW be alive today
When I was a boy '69 I rode in similar to this but it was a Heinkel.
I just did a video on one this past summer
I need to know what this is ... so I was sitting with my brother in our yard and randomly on the road I saw a tiny ass taxi thing fuckin zoom by like wtf is it and where do I get one 😂
I always liked the look of the Heinkel more than the Isetta. Both neat little cars though.
Don't like the coloured steering wheel. I believe they should be all white. Great car though.
All bubble window Isettas were 250s. Not an original car.
My teeth were rattling so I had to take them out. Thanks
Steering wheel is supposed to be white, not painted like it is. That ruins the look of the interior.
Thank you!
Steve urkel Drove that car on Family Matters
These were made for cheap transporation
They're Really lovely cars, and A cute one too
I am,,,,, but nice car tho
Good morning, I'm from Brazil, I want to see who your chrome supplier is for isetta Z. sds Rober
I use Isettas R US 🇺🇸
They seem like a real buzz-bomb to drive
Cool!
why the fuck they stop making these?

Love it

Nice.

Cute. The horn sounded like a Road Runner cartoon. The one my friend's dad had, back in the 50s, also shook like that at certain rpm.

thank you, yes this is particularly nice example
Those are called wing windows.

Probably from when it was first registered?
So u bump at 30mph the steering wheel crushs ur chest while the horrible metal pole holding it pierces ur heart....death trap
@flemtastic. that and the fact it offers no defense in case of a head on crash
Single cylynder two stroke engine ?
Like motor cycle engine
Four stroke.
and vere do the bombs drop from
why did aircraft designers end up building this shit
