Out of sync or not great harmony..also a year AFTER Dennis past. Love it!! If the out of sync bothers you shut your eyes and listen to the harmony or the interview. Thanks for sharing!!!
You are absolutely right pmoyer50. I get angry when I read articles that said THEY didn't like smile. It was no they. It was MIKE LOVE that harrassed Brian so much and who made Van Dyke quit. Brian's brothers loved smile and when Brian retreated from music, it was Carl Wilson who gathered up the songs and put the disks together so that years after Carl passed away, Brian with his new group could present Smile to the world.
He then went on to say that Spector wasn't anything that special - perhaps trying to say that being single and the groupie situation wasn't that special? It could be that Brian had a point but just had a hard time getting it across. Of course, Mike interrupts him.
That was his brilliant older brother. Carl had looked up to him but by this point in time Brian was mentally damaged. It must have been extremely difficult for anyone who loved him.
@ChiroQuacker Yes we think of Brian, Mike, Dennis, Al, Carl as being The Beach Boys (not including David Marks), but in reality there were so many talents that brought the sound all together through the years. Glen Campbell, Daryl Dragon with Toni Tennille being part of their history. Take a look at a group called the Fendertones to see how the Beach Boys music was layered into the pure perfection that Beach Boys music really is.
Joan rivers wasn't very well prepared. Getting dates wrong and mixing Carl and Bruce up. Even if they HAD changed places she should still have known who was who.
We don’t know why Carl and Bruce switched seats! Something more must have happened! Carl worked his way as far away from Joan as he could get! Perhaps he didn’t want to strangle her with more comments like “dumb blonde”!
OMG .. Mike Love is nauseating, the minute he opens his mouth up there beisde Rivers. Nasty, too, the way ML tries to embarrass Brian re the groupies question. Like someone on YT said previously .. a timeless comment .. there's a place in hell reserved for ML. May it be so ...
This was during the ill advised & ill conceived "Brian's Back!" period. Frankly, as much as I love the boys, it's hard to watch. I saw them on tour this year as well. I remember it being rather uncomfortable when they trotted Brian out on stage. Thank goodness this is all far in the past & Brian is now truly back. Can't wait for the 50th anniversary tour in 2012! I wouldn't miss it for the world!
That damned Landy!! He did more to screw up Brian's brain---but you have to admit, his body never looked better!! I really loved the music they made through this period and hate the fact that so much of it was just ignored or overshadowed by the pop fad of the month. No; don't pull it. I mean, I used to have this, amongst a very deep collection of BB appearances whichI had on both BETA and VHS until my entier collection was destroyed last year. It's after the loss of Dennis and is still shows Brian asking for Landy to come out on stage ! Thanks john
Yeah, you’re right.
