I was there. It's the first time Adam sang these songs live!
It's about chasing & trying to recapture the highs he felt on stage the first time, whether it's his first time ever or each opening of new projects. But each listener can interpret for whatever feelings they're trying to relive.
I love those fast paced pop songs like this one, so good!! His album entitled The Original High has a lot of great songs on it!
I don't believe the the lyrics can be taken that literally. Adam has said that his original high was being on stage, and that for everyone that original high experience is different. That's the wonderful thing about well written lyrics, they can be interpreted in a variety of ways.

Love your reaction! This is the title track of his third solo CD. Each CD has it's own vibe and I'm impressed you got the meaning of it, that he's talking about missing that first feeling of something special. I've seen speculation online that they thought he was talking about drugs - the only drug here is love LOL. BTW he mentions Hollywood since he's lived in Los Angeles/West Hollywood for the past 24 years.

I really like your analysis of the lyrics, I hadn't thought that deeply about this song before, cool... I like the song, especially that part when he keeps building the high, so high, and then his voice launches into the stratosphere 😂
Adam said in an interview everyone can interpret the song there very own way i would say first time doing something like anything really for the experience and the enjoyment in any form you got like high from in an emotional way with the feeling and addiction to it looking for that first feeling again. It can relate to anything you want it to and how the song can connect with you with the lyrics.

Well to be fair if you have heard the demo version of that song he does say

However, lyrics can be interpreted however you want and obviously adam lambert could of meant something else as well 🙂.

Personally, l always get high listening to Lambert and how my wife speaks - Adam exudes sexual energy from his head to his toes, there's no escaping that!👌
