What he's saying is go buy a Schwinn or other budget bike from Walmart that has a decently light frame and put the good suspension on it. Upgrade the drivetrain, rim and tires and you have a bike that can perform 95% as well as a 8k bike. For under 1k.

Suspension kinematics and setup both matter.
Sure the VPP is superior. So much R&D and iterative improvements over the years, but the suspension shock quality and setup make more of a difference.
However, if you took both shock and fork setup exactly the same with a neutral setup, and swapped them over to bikes, the SC will still perform better and smoother.
    Everytime would choose the SC!

I was free riding in nyc on kona bikes back in the late 20th century and early 21st century it was definitely the golden era of mountain biking/free ride.yeah for back then the machines were pricey but at least very attainable. 1,200 got you a 5 to 6 incher with marzocchi in the front and fox in the back. I get inflation but my god you could pay for 75% of certain actual brand new cars for what mountain bike companies want these days . I can understand if they were all made in the U.S of A but most if not all the top brands aren't made here completely. It's not for everyone anymore. This sh!t still rocks.
