6:31 I'm sorry but for some reason I really hate it when people ask for characters like Sung Jin Woo to "get mad" so that they use their powers "more effectively", I'd rather he try to encourage Gon through the 4th wall rather than want him to feel anger as if everyone in the world would Idk, just an autistic pet peeve or something like that Also, a few seconds later with wanting a fucking 12 year old to accept that a person is truly dead after doing so much while believing they could be brought back the entire time, so funny how adults can sympathize with almost every other character in every other situation except the one where a child can't accept that someone is dead
Nono, you’re absolutely right. Rage scenes, while cool, are the opposite of what you should want or encourage. Personally, I usually hate the trope of the main character winning by getting angry, because it just isn’t how it works in life and isn’t a message that these shounen should be teaching to young kids/teenagers, which is their main demographic. It’s also a prime example of plot armor and lazy writing. Getting angry, lashing out and/or seeking vengeance against someone is never the right answer to your problems, it just leaves you with nothing. In this case, the transformation didn’t come out of nowhere, as he actually paid a price so it’s not just plot armor, and his rage isn’t glorified and made to look badass in the slightest, it’s absolutely tragic. He’s lost his entire future for one brief moment of wrath, leaving him with nothing left. Kite is still dead, his grief hasn’t faded in the slightest and neither has his hatred for Pitou. Rage absolutely should never be glorified.
@@googoogaagaa-fk3rh While I agree with what you're saying, I think in some cases like with Sung Jin Woo from Solo Leveling. He just manages to put a lot more force into his attacks, it just seems like he's angry because, well, he's getting tossed around and really doesn't like that LMAO I also get that you don't want it to be an influence on kids (because shounen is meant for teens, of course) but I kind of think it's the perfect opportunity for a teenager to see how much the real world and fiction seperate and how they should apply themselves in the future
@@cottoncandyenthusiast8371 yea, that’s true. I do think that not all rage scenes are bad because they sometimes do make a certain amount of sense and don’t feel like plot armor or asspulls, and actually fit with the tone and themes of the story. For example in berserk, his anger isn’t really affecting his combat capabilities, he’s just fighting a lot harder because of it. And in cases like gon in HxH, the power doesn’t come from anger, but from pre-established rules of nen. Also I must admit most kids and teenagers probably know or will learn in their life that getting angry won’t solve their problems so I agree that it is a good opportunity for them to learn to differentiate fiction from reality, but I still do find it a bit boring when the main character wins by getting angry instead of thinking up strategies and making use of teamwork, or hell, even having their shounen plot armor power up come from motivation and concentration instead of anger is more satisfying.
@@googoogaagaa-fk3rh Jin woo does put a ton more energy into strategy and how to use his powers effectively when it comes down to it, don't really have a secondary example but hey, if you have a pet peeve for anime characters powering up from being upset, more power to you, I'm sure there's some anime out there that scratches that itch, hell, probably some live action shows
The great part about this scene isn't even Gon, it is the fact that in the span of about 10 minutes Pitou went from a remorseless killer to apologizing that she couldn't bring back Kite (while saying she believed Gon deserved an explanation), and being happy about how this was used on her and not the king. The ants gain "humanity" as the arc progresses, while many of the humans fighting them lose it. Which makes Netero's proclamation of mankind being the cruelest of all hit home much more.
Still thinking it would be good if gon just stay become that black chunk of energy instead of that unhinged big ass gon 😅 But well the explanation is make it little bit better but still at least keep that overflowing energy version until he finished pitou would be better and in the end it's reveal that actually he become like that, like seriously i laughing when i see that unhinged big gon 😂
