Thanks for all the help Vince Vaughn. 😜 I miss mame. Used to run it out my older pc laptops. I now have a MacBook Pro and for years been trying to figure out how to run mame. I do have openemu for other games.
I did the same thing, but there is no way to play it because the UI does not show “arcade” in the first place. Can someone please help me? Macbook M2 & OpenEmu Experimental
Maybe try an older version? That’s super weird. I’ve never had that happen. I just installed it two weeks ago on my laptop ahead of a trip without issues.
Thanks, but how do you make your ROMs appear in SDLMame? I took my zip file of my rom, which works fine in OpenEmu Experimental, and just copied it as a zip file into the ROM folder of SDLMame the way you see to do it hear. But when I then open SDLMame again, the game still doesn‘t appear in the „Available“ section of the UI?
The problem with anything MAME related is GBs of previously functioning Roms can be rendered worthless and unusable overnight by over-keen developers. Had a massive collection from the Mac OS 9 days that all worked perfectly and now don’t. The sites that list individual ROMs can be full of duds that work with no current RetroArch core or build of OpenEMU and BT sites seem to be full of obsessive hoarders who package 40+ versions of different ROMs in huge archives and it’s pot luck you ever get enough people sharing them to be able to ever get them downloaded. It’s a nightmare. It didn’t used to be. Moved to Atari ST and Amiga emulation, bought myself a USB adapter and a couple of old Zipstick and Cheatah 125 joysticks and playing those without issue with Hatari and UAE.
Looks like the RUclips algos didn't like your comment but it looks like you mentioned you have an Intel iMac, and you downloaded the ARM version which is for Apple Silicon, download the x86/x64 version.
@@dmug I was able to get it running, but I haven't been able to load any games yet. If you're using OpenEmu's experimental version, you should have the "Drag and Drop games here" which will auto place the MAME folder. Otherwise, if using SDLMame, you'll have to be sure you're viewing the correct directory.

Hello, good video, thanks for that, but I have a question; playing with the NeoGeo doesn't work, I downloaded the Neogeo Bios as a zip. It's all about finding the right neogeo bios. Before anyone asks, since I made this video a year ago I do not remember where I acquired them other than a reddit thread.
Hey, can you share the Neo geo zip file here? I have one but I guess it's the wrong one. Where did you put the file after you got it? Did you drag it straight into the BIOS folder? Trying to see if I had done this correctly.
Sorry, not sharing it because of EULA, not trying to get my video hit with copyright takedowns. I can't recall exactly where I found it. I just dug around downloading BIOS files until I found one that worked. It just goes in the ROM folder. Unfortunately it's really picky about finding a certain dump to work.
I found it on some random RUclips video’s link. I don’t know even what it was it was so long ago. I remember archive.org didn’t work. There’s a Reddit thread I think that has them but that’s for you to find. I don’t want any DMCA claims and I don’t have it bookmarked either.
Why is everyone saying "counsel" instead of "console?" Seriously. You guys are saying "counsel" as in a "counsel of elders." It's "con" as in "con man" and "sole" as in "sole survivor." "Console." LOL.
