I grew up near a wood in the 1970s, and spent many happy times as kid foraging for crab apples, wild pears. wild gooseberries etc. We all had our own knives and built dens, made our own bows and arrows and cooked potatoes in our fires. Much simpler, innocent, happier days.
We too had good times in the woods in the 60's. It had a deep creek bed that when it was dry in summer we used to slide down the embankment on cardboard. We weren't allowed knives or to have fires but we were given pocket money & we'd buy a bag of frosted animal cookies & a bottle of root beer & play Huck Finn. Very, very fond memories. Kids today miss out on so much, just by not being outside with no toys. Our only toys were bikes & a skateboard but we lacked for nothing that our minds couldn't create.
Yes simple childhoods before the high Tec world and mobile phones sure we managed fine without them 😂
@@davidhudson7590 And we had no urge to stab anyone with our knives!
@@trishg5820 And it taught you to be self reliant.
@@63mckenzie So very true! Thank you!
Andy is a real fungi to be with 😂😂😂
👌👌
Ba dum tish!!
Good one 😂
I see what you did there!!!
You don’t leave mushroom for doubt 😂
Is there anything more wonderful than a woodland with the sound of the leaves in the breeze!
Going through a difficult time right now, without knowing what will happen in the end. Thanks for making these videos, they are a temporary distraction and I'm grateful for that
Hope you're doing alright
Hope things have gotten better 🌻
Not knowing anything at all about your trouble, obviously, still, I send you my very sincere regards, and I have faith in prayer so will pray for you to come through your bad times, into good times. God bless.❤
😂😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😅😮😮
I have become very sick the last few weeks. In and out of hospitals and in bed all the time and your channel has become a new friend. Thanks for your content. Much love from the States. Tampa Florida
love watching your videos, never seen a puffball before.
Like wtf 😳 I’m 48 live in Oz and have never seen anything like that before 😂 I thought you on another planet 🌎 mate 😂 well done and thank you 🙏 for all you do I’ve never missed a video since you started 🙌🏻❤❤❤
Those squeaking trees are filling in so effectively, nice!
Can’t beat a bit of fun in the woods with a big puff!
Best comment ive seen all week 🤣
Love your videos.... I watch them every night before I sleep.
Lovely. My father would find puff balls and fresh from the brook watercress at the golf course in Toronto each Fall and give them to me. Loved it! thanks for the memories.
HOLY MOLLY, THAT'S ONE BIG-ASS MUSHROOM !!!
Horse mushrooms are massive also. I found one as large as a dinner plate
@@dominicharvey6048 Those bad boys must rare tho...
@Kaito57 the massive ones are, but you can regularly get big ones. Just gotta get them before the maggots do
@@dominicharvey6048 Obviously... unless you want a little meat in it lol
@Kaito57 Haha, nothing wrong with a bit of protein 🤣
always love your adventures,
Your videos are so calming and peaceful and Serene also your videos make me so hungry
❤❤
Another GREAT vid!
Thanks Andy 👍
Not seen a puff ball that big in 40years!
There are Professional Foragers out there, that sell their gains to the poncey Restaurants, especially in London.
Is it supposed to be a mushroom????
@@susancaleca4796yes it's a fungus
We DO have those in the states! My Grandma in Illinois used to collect puffballs and fairy ring mushrooms.
I'm originally from MI but am in Illinois rn. I heard there are moral mushrooms here, but like where? The soil is sooooo clay-like around my area that I find it hard to believe they grow here.
@@manic_hearts I think they are 'morel'. Might be why you are finding it hard to search info on them. They are very sought after and take research and time to find.
Awesome as always Andy. Stay awesome!
Looked delicious! Bravo!
Loved this!! Gorgeous weather, fried mushrooms on crusty bread and rice pudding on the fly...very nice. 😊
So peaceful 👍
Oooh love a giant puffball, great video, yet another wild gourmet feast 👏🏻 bravo !
For the dessert we call it rice porridge in Jamaica. Delicious when done right.😊
Sure is :)
Andy, next time you make that lovely rice pudding - one of my very favorite desserts by the way - when it's done and just barely cooled down, add an egg yolk and stir it quickly into the warm pudding. You won't be sorry.
That sounds gorgeous!
The way you were handling that puffball, I honestly thought you were going to start doing some keepy-uppy!
That was great very relaxed.
Puffballs are prevalent in the northeastern part of the United States. My mom harvested them when they 'popped up' and prepared them as a butter sautee with a saltine cracker meal and egg. I continued to make them in late middle age. Yours came out beautifully. You are a BRAVE MAN to tackle rice pudding in a video: people hold strong opinions about how this dish should be done. I favor a New England recipe that is 'minimalist.' The secret is in the quality of the milk and double cream. My favored recipe does not add 'frippery' like raisins or allspice.
I went through a phase when I made rice pudding every day, it was all I wanted😂
🖐❤❤
I looked it up a puffy mushroom, they have nutritional values, so ya great for you finding that. I love to go to the lake just to start a small fire a make coffee and sometimes a meal over it. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
That’s great, I should do that sometime. Would be really relaxing.
Andy, the end of the bread IS a good slice!
We call it the "heel" of the bread here and you're right, best bit
I prefer my puffball sliced as you would a round loaf and fried in the fat from frying bacon and served with the bacon and a couple of eggs. The big one you found would make 3/4 decent servings. The trouble is finding one in the first place let alone one that has not been nibbled.
i love that kind of cooking the out doors great❤
Thanks Andy for sharing this amazing wendnesday video enjoyed watching your video 👍 😊
Puff Balls!!!! Yummmmy )))) White inside is good. Blue inside is NOT. Fry them up in butter like sliced bread, a full meal by itself. They don't come up the same place next year. ((( and not every year. bummer. Just tap the cinnamon jar so very little comes out at a time. Shaking the jar risks a LOT falling out.
Great video. I used to collect the odd puff ball at Old Wives Lees. We would sit at the top of Moonies Bank and spots where they were. On occasions they were to be found in a ring! Thanks for sharing 😀
❤❤
Nice video. Interesting meal, fungi.
❤❤
Fantastic film.supetb shots and editing ,really enjoyable.

It's nice to see your friend Simon with you once in a while. You guys are good together.Good friendship, make good videos.Thank you both
😀💕xx simple food, few ingredients, always the best. Delicious!👍
Puff ball. Used to get them on my homestead in Canada. Got to be fresh to eat them.Good sliced up dipped in egg and fried in a pan
Exactly!
I remember my brother bought one home. It was very nice
Good save on the fork, Andy!
Great find Andy with the puffball mushrooms.👍☘️😎
Andy found an extremely rare 'Bigfoot' egg

Short & Sweet Episode ..... 1st time I have ever seen a Beer-less edition. Love the Videos Andy!
Great video. Enjoyed watching the mushroom sandwich and the rice pudding. Thank you!
❤❤
Yes a new video from Andy.
What a lovely wee video thankyou Andy
Yummy dessert. Lovely video!!
Very different 👍
I haven't seen a puff ball in about 45 - 50 years, good eats!
❤❤
Glad you put pepper on the mushrooms so you don’t see the bugs. 😊
Thank you , Andy .
🐺 Loupis Canis .
Awesome cooking Andy. At first i thought you found a football. 🤭 We also have these around but not even the size of the smaller one. 😅 They do taste very good tho. 👍
Young ones are very tasty. Slice them. Prepare like snitzels: salt and pepper, whisked egg, toasted breadcrumbs. Enjoy! ( Had the same smalle water kettle, by the way. Served me nicely for many years.
When I was young. We found these and my dad made fritters out of them. I haven't seen any around here scene then. 😊😊
Awesome vid!
Wow I dont think I have ever seen a puff ball that big that was edible. Very interesting video!
Ya can’t beat a buttery mushroom sarnie 😋
There isn't mushroom to contain all my excitement when I seen that killer thumbnail!
Love it matey
My dad used to bring those mushrooms home and my mom made Schnitzel from it. It was super delicious.
Heyy Andy, beautiful scenery very windy, never seen mushroom so big, thanks for sharing stay safe
That looked delicious! Thanks for sharing Andy 🤠
Great video ! TY Andy.
Thank you! Very interesting👍😊
At this point, this is a cooking channel with tents! :)
Blindin' 😊
Not saying it's staged but who goes into the woods with no tent but carrying a stove, butter and spices and 'FINDS' something to cook?BUt it's still fun to watch.
@donnienicholson6062 He knows his woods very well, he's there practically every weekend. There's even a few makeshift shelters in there, shown previous videos if he was ever caught short.
@@donnienicholson6062this is his job so he goes out to make videos like this. Finding the puffballs is an opportunity.
@@donnienicholson6062yeah, i think he found them beforehand and just nie decided to make a video about it 🤷
Tbh he never said uuuh look what accidentally found while i was just walking along
One of nature's little tidbits to the sound of squeaking trees, what a cooking show you could have. Cooking with the kent man. Stay safe from newfoundland and labrador Canada
Watching from 🇵🇭 Philippines
What a nice little picnic Andy!
Love the foraging wish you had cattails with it lol
Nice video Andy. That's all we need. Enjoyed the puff-ball cook.
These pop up in my backyard all the time, in fact I just noticed one today when I was out mowing the lawn. Never knew the reason why they randomly show up.
Yes, lots here each year.👍🇬🇧
Thank you ❤
Nice. Video ❤😊
Very good. Food is always better cooked in the woods. Take care.
Just found this channel, brilliant cook
If you just found Andy's channel, and you like cooking, you are in for a real treat, because this man (knows) how to cook and rarely, if ever, is it just standard campfire fare.
Awesome video as always, when you placed the cooked mushrooms I thought it was scrambled eggs at first.
❤❤
Love the chilled videos.
what really makes those giant puffballs shine is breading them with egg, salt and pepper them and frie em like a wiener schnitzel! nice golden and crunchy! cant beat that! and yea august is the season for these and the moist and warm weather this year seems to be the perfect condition for them - i also found lots this year! you definitely should check that recipe out! greetings from hannover city germany! keep it up - i love your vids!
Yum...and WOW, the size...😮 👍😎🇨🇦
Best place to eat👍
Just wanna say thank you for your time and effort you are the best I was interesting to watch your videos
For a moment thought he stole Simon’s nifty table but nope….Simons table is warped and and well seasoned! I’ve looked for those tables in the US ALDIs but no such luck. Andy send me one for Christmas! Loved the video and some of my favorite memories in the woods is when a breeze is whipping off the farmland making the trees dance. Although your neck hurts from looking up watching out for deadfall. Be safe out there!
Cool 😎 video my friend thank you 🙏
Cinnamon is great for health , keep using it 🙏🌈🐢🌼. Love your videos 🤗🌻🐢
Ive dreamed of tasting these mushrooms. Lucky you. Yum.
Nice Backpack
Wow amazing..!!! Great video mate..!!! Love your cooking
I have seen puffballs occasionally over the years, but I had no idea they were edible. Learned something new today
I liked stepping on them when they died when I was a kid. The brown puffy spores are bellowing out with each stomp 😂 idk if the ones in England are similar to the ones here in the US. They seem much bigger over there.
In my home state, moral mushrooms are very popular to eat. We actually have a festival for it 😂
@@manic_hearts Yeah, I stepped on a few as a kid myself. Lol
@@manic_hearts They are only good for eating before the spores develop and the inside is solid.
Very nice eating
You've inspired me to make rice pudding! Well, truth be told, Everything you do inspires me to get out, but that rice pudding though...
🖐❤❤
I always wondered where bowling balls were grown.
😂😂
Freakin awsome.
Hello Andy happy your back
Thanks Andy! An education on wild mushrooms and a Venezuelan dessert! Yum on both!
chili oil would be good to saute the shrooms in! Or thyme and salt with cheese on top of shrooms.
Those were mushrooms, oooo ❤😊
What a great channel! I'm now going to have to Google a recipe for Venezualan rice pudding!
I could hear the trees creeking in the wind.
