They have Punjabi & Pashtun roots. That's doesn't mean they're of Pakistani ancestry though, since Pakistan didn't exist as an entity then. Also Pakistan is a nationality not ethnicity.
Punjabi & Pashtun people aren't just native to Pakistan. Punjabi, Sindhi & Pashtun ethnicities are natively found in Indian Punjab, Kutch & Potwar plateau (which is part of Gandhar) in India respectively. So this identity is not exclusive to Pakistan, it belongs to India equally!
All the actors with Muhajjir background have come from various parts of India then, like Fawad Khan.
I don't know about others,but Shahid is really drop dead handsome. He actually seems more appealing to me than hritik(I love hritik though) especially when it comes to style. So,I would have gone for Shahid against that Pakistani actor. And with ranbir too. The other guy was really good looking,but Ranbir has a different charm like srk,so I would have gone with him.
