Have to state that I think the backing vocals "say a prayer to all the gods" at around 5 mins sounds very much like meat.

It's not Meat. It's Jim (and Marcus Lovett, the bloke from earlier, on the high harmonies).
I will say the original german version is better but this is pretty faithful to it.

I can see why people said German version is better, it is somewhat better. But I don't find German language to be appealing so I don't know.
I saw Marcus Lovett as Alex in Aspects of Love and as The Phantom. I know this is demo but I'm not really digging Elaine Caswell here. Cornelia Zenz as Sarah is hard to beat.
