I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets such as stocks and bonds since this can protect my inherited portfolio of about $2.5m. I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.
True, I mostly just buy and hold stocks, but my portfolio has been mostly in the red for quite awhile now. Unfortunately to be able to make good gains, you’ll need to be consistent and restructure your portfolio frequently.
In my opinion, it was much easier investing back in the 60s but it’s a lot trickier now, those making consistent profit in these times are professionals reason I’ve been using an advisor for the past 5 years to consistently build my portfolio in preparations for retirement.
My partner’s been considering going the same route, could you share more info please on the advisor that guides you?

I would agree, the yield on bonds have noticeable been decreased especially on the long end (30 and 10 Y) indicating that the demand is still there even if the supply remains huge showing a preference for safety. I'm still at a crossroad regarding whether or not to liquidate my $138k

Maybe. Though it might become more attractive to buy because it will be "cheaper". Also, options contracts will be cheaper to throw money into. Also, once it splits, it will be eligible to enter the Dow, which is obviously eyeballing it to replace Intel asap, which could also cause a positive stir.

I kind of interpret many post on here as acknowledging that we're reaching a market peak, in general, which is a well-supported thesis, and so if you've been sitting back chill while the gains roll in because bull market, well, time for traders to stay sharp, many are expecting volatility, probably a sharp downturn, smart traders should check their risk management is in shape, time to pay attention. The timing of his post vs what I know about the market supports that well enough. But yeah, the post could mean anything.....managed to grow a nest egg of around 100k to a decent 432k in the space of a few months... I'm especially grateful to Francine Duguay, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.

Market cycles you say 65-75% minimum bull run, but chart shows 7 out of 17 cycles were less than 65% before crashing. Also, why is the Russell 2000 all the rage now? Until interest rates fall, why would small caps show higher earnings? Thanks for your videos!

I liked Nvidia in 2021, but sold when it 3X in under 6 months then, sadly didn't buy back in during the 2022 bear market.
But I still like Lam Research. It's hard to make chips without doing business with them! Also holding Micron still. I agree with you it's hard to make a case for taking profit on tech right now, especially those hardware producers.
xAI is buying the chips from Tesla because Tesla's data center is delayed - it isn't completed yet. If Tesla took delivery, the chips would be sitting in storage for months.
