I have the exact same passenger front door misalignment where it sticks out a bit from the fender as well as the passenger front fender misalign with the pillar. I got my 2023 MY 7 seater on Feb 1. I opened a service ticket and the local Tesla center in Long Beach, CA said they were “within tolerance”….,whatever that means, it still bugs me. Thanks for showing your professional inspection on this. I will open another service request on this same misalignment issue again to see.
The even worse situation we had on Tesla's horrible quality control. When we took the Model Y LR delivery on 2/12, and found a 10-inch crack on the top glass during the PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). We wanted to reject the car, but the sales assistant said we would return to the queue and wait indefinitely. Or they can fix it for us. So we choose the 2nd option. The glass was replaced on 2/14. But we are still concerned about the retrofitted glass's longevity impact. So we asked the sales assistant about our concern. He refused to answer our questions and directed me to ask the question to their service department, which could not answer the customer's question but only took the repair appointment.
I love watching these inspections. I'm guessing that since Tesla is a direct to consumer seller, we'll see these imperfections more vs a dealer, since the dealer is a middle man that will usually inspect and report these defects without causing "pauses" to the customer since they can just keep good cars and return bad ones before a customer comes to buy.
When you get the Tesla. Where is the j1117 adapter located? I might have a friend take delivery so need to tell them where to look. Thanks. Your car made in Fremont?
It shouldn't be common. Does Tesla goes thru an inspection before the car leaves the factory?. If I was inspecting the cars I would reject all cars because nobody is doing their job right. If you pay a lot of money you should have the best that's my opinion. BTW if I were your client I would decline delivery.
The issues here with Tesla are still present in every other manufacturer. There was no reason to decline the delivery. At all. Because I understand how adjustments are made on the cars, it missing a singular clip (Which I ended up installing because we have them on hand) and a single panel needing a slight adjustment, common sense says that taking delivery wasn't a problem. You need to dial back your "the is the best" mindset. These are $50,000 cars, from one of the newest auto manufacturers in the world. It has taken every other brand DECADES to get their QC to what it is now. I already emailed the body center doing the work to prep them for this job and as I mentioned neither of us are worried about it. Rejecting the car means possibly waiting months for another car. That's the state of things. When you work in the automotive field and you understand how cars are put together and how things are adjusted - you understand that this isn't an issue. Every other part of the car functioned, sealed, no noises or oddities other problems. This is strictly related to a cosmetics. My clients trust me and the hundreds of cars that we've inspected. I've advised clients to reject cars before. This wasn't worth rejecting.
@@TotalDetailing I understand that there are issues, but it seems that it's always the same thing, and I know not every car will be perfect. It's just frustrating to a consumer to pay a lot and there are issues. I know when I do get mine. I will be very thorough with the inspection. I do not want to leave the dealership with the problems, and have them tell me "well you should have told us before leaving". Every consumer should inspect. I've heard that tesla does give a checklist for inspecting the car which is good to know.
Yes, any discrepancies with the car is a pain in the ass. But just remember, people buying a Tesla product should be more concerned with what's inside the car, such as hardware, software and the overall technology. The cosmetic stuff can be fixed. Trust me, I speak from experience. My two model 3's had cosmetic stuff wrong but its all been corrected. ty

It's amazing to me any video like this has to be made/made by so many Tesla/prospective Tesla owners. The QC control is that poor people are paranoid about door misalignments? This shouldn't be anything more than an afterthought if you're paying $50K for an automobile. Come on man.
First time Tesla buyer and just got 2023 model Y on Feb 2023. The rear door is unevenly aligned with the rear bumper and Tesla service could not correct the problem twice. Tesla service told me to contact customer service to complain. So far I am not impressed with Tesla quality and its services. So disappointed with entire experience with Tesla "Made in America". First and the last Tesla I will buy!
I'm a Fan of Telsa and Elon Musk but its seems as if they really don't care about the quality control at all. I've looked at the Plaid versions of both the S an X but this is what's holding me back.
If there was as many inspection videos on any Ford or GM or VW product you would see many many more quality control issues. This is a bug in the bonnet now. My Ford has weather stripping the squeaks all the time on the front doors. Silicone spray takes it away but after 100 years of making cars they still have simple issues that make us nuts.

35k Lexus and Acura are built better than a 50k Tesla. I can’t believe in this day and age , we have to inspect a 50k dollar vehicle for quality. How did this even pass QC?
I agree to a point but.. How old is lexus and acura compared to tesla? Do you not realize how many decades they’ve had to “perfect” their craft? Cut them some slack its the only car company in the last 100 years thats managed to do what its done. Newer low margin companies always have to sell more expensive products to stay afloat anyways. They will keep improving & innovating… and besides teslas software and tech is a full decade+ ahead of lexus and acura lmao
I think the important thing to remember is that every other vehicle manufacturer has had decades to perfect QC. The cars really are fantastic pieces of tech but QC isn't quite there yet.
The fact that you have to inspect this car for those type of quality issues is insane. I purchased a 2022 Camry and I don't there were any flaws in the car like the ones you found on this Tesla which cost more than my Camry. Then after you see the flaws that you found, one has to wonder what about the quality on the things you can't see. Tesla still hasn't resolved their quality control issues and doesn't seem to matter to them because they are who they are. It's still the same car as it was first introduced, the body style and interior are still the same. That right there should be a reason to reduce the price on these because they haven't changed that much. Musk really understands marketing a product and it shows. Why update anything as long as he is making a profit on the existing aged product line. He also understands there is a percentage of the population that are either not as educated about EVs or just intrigued with technology. Those who have educated themselves on EVs are not his audience.
With all that said folks are still buying even with the quality issues that should have been caught at qc. People still will buy even if it was missing a spare tire
good catches them all. If I was Tesla I'd be embarressed. I have a 2022 model 3 from China, and the number of trims rattles is incedible. Worse than a 1990s car. And the service provision and attitude of the service manager is appalling. I'll never buy Tesla again. But coudlnt go back to ICE.
